WOYWW 7 + Scrappy Mo's Christmas card challenge!

Been a bit AWOL ... last week, internet was down for days so no WOYWW.
So here I am back for WOYWW 364 or What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday -
our SEVENTH anniversary
- WOW, indeed!!
Hosted kindly by dear Lunch Lady Jan (Thanks, dear LLJ!). Our wonderful Queen of Deskland, Julia, is having a wee break, before surgery. Each and every day, am praying for dear Julia for her surgery, + post surgery recovery. Please pray for her too :D for complete and full recovery.
Okay so you can see some Christmas cards being up-cycled today.. or last night.. Its the 25th so do pop over at Scrappy Mo's Christmas card challenge - aka Rudolph day (you've until 31st of May). You can see that have two old cards - one finished, making up the other. Trimmed down 'cos the sentiment was not very apt, + base too big anyway. Now very happy with them, two more done, so nice!
Not any atc's in sight but one will be made + posted within 24 hours, God willing.
Actually supposed to have birthday card made too ..  that's why there is aqua blue Cheesecloth at back right, it was tie-dyed - anyone remember that?? If you want details, will be shared on 15th June, once birthday arrives.
Adding a little DI Antique linen to the white digi Bible verse "Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift"  printed out ages ago. Mounted the tag with gold snippet with Kaisercraft labels die ... extended a tad. Added some red bling - here are the two cards below.

This card is totally made up of snippets. Joy Vintage Flourishes Butterfly, MB Whimsical flourish Swirl, stamped embossed mounted verse (SB Labels 11, verse stamp by Print Blocks 1994) were made for another card and rejected. Finished it for a dear friend's birthday on Sunday. Added lace from stash.
Now to Aussie shots... this is at a fav. spot, about 7 minutes walk from here. As you can see, it's a favourite walking spot of humans + seagulls... the silver gull below amused me as he was taking a paddle.. more than likely looking for sea worms, while the waves went in and out! as you can see by the subtle light, it is late afternoon.

God's creation truly is breathtaking .. our evening skies and lights on water have been so special in this autumnal weather we're having.
Happy WOYWW 7 everyone! courtesy of Nikki C

Thanks so very much for popping over!

Please say hi - to let me know you've been by!
May God bless your day wherever you maybe!

How to Do Easy 3D Stamped Images - Bizzy Bec's DT with Penny Black "In the Garden" Stamps

(Warning: Long tutorial - simple, not complicated. I just wanted to explain fully to help others).

Hi folks - am here with another tutorial! :D
This is 3D images with stamps - a favourite in this instance, Penny Black!
Bec has such exceptional prices on these, I was thrilled when saw:
Here is the first card made with this set, not done in 3D. Stamped in black + embossed, coloured with watercolour markers. Then decided to 3D the second card.
{Used: *Penny Black "In the Garden" stamp set *Memory Box Pinpoint circles. Other items from stash

Just showing quickly here how I added a shadow around this scalloped image, as it did not stand out enough on like coloured DP. So cute same size SB Scalloped circle die in contrasting one then added it split on back to shadow the scallops.
Image now stands out better on card. :D
You create your own scene with these images, as there are all different elements from which to chose. I always practise on a scrap sheet before leaping onto good paper. Used to do more stamping for 3D work, now I find you really don't need to do lots of multiple stamping.
Here is the amount of stamping for this 3D scene. A good background, then elements you wish to 3D on another piece. The cat and basket will be cut out separately, so they are shaped and glued individually.
I use Tombows watercolour pens to colour these images and found this great parchment paper in Australia that is perfect for blending with these. It is 80gsm as you do not use heavy card to 3D images you are going to shape. NOTE: I have gone around the cut edges with a grey pen so as to tone in the whiteness of the edges.
Shaping tool, the white plastic one is great, (however couldn't find one online??).  Highly recommend it, but use finer one too. I bought white one at a craft show in 2010 with shaping mat, saw 3D work on cards for first time there - they didn't use stamped images though. Saw those on Debby's blog here - but her technique is a bit different. Use the glue she uses though that was a great thing to learn.
Items used: *Shaping Tool *Foam molding mat *Silicone glue - available from Bec.
Here I am gluing. Use "Clear Silicone adhesive" packaged by Woodware {** see below note}. Several things to note about silicone glue. I dont use the fine tip applicator that comes with this one. It was useless.. or it maybe me.  ;)
1. I simply squeeze an amount out on scrap paper as shown here.
2. Used the small skewer to clear the dried clog at top of tube, to get to the usable glue.
3. then squeezed a blob to scrap paper, use tooth pick to add it to where I need it.
4. For a large shaped area put a good blob, just add fine bits to edge so they adhere.
5. Don't fuss if it gets where it shouldn't. Several hours later when it is dry you can just rub it off those areas with your fingers.
Small area of glue is around top of flowers in pot, it will be rubbed off when dry, leaving it just where it should be.
Here you see the basket and cat was one image but cut now so it defined and looks like cat's paws are hanging over the basket. From just one image, not two as I would have done once.
This is the finished second card which was done with 3D.
  Items used: **
Pre-order Blackberry Lane papers by Wild Rose Studio pads
**Pre-order Our Daily Bread Beautiful Borders die set.
Close up of 3D work, coloured with same pens, background was sponged, while still in die to get crisp white shadow edge, with Distress ink and hand cut hills and clouds mask.
I cut the lower part of head of cat at neckline so as to separate the shapes of head and body.
Die is X-cut Victorian Squares, I think? and Circles EF, disc.
Congratulations if you've hung in until the end!
I hope this explanation helps you want to try it, as it is not as hard as it may seem. Especially if you dont mind cutting out fine detail. I find it very therapeutic.

Thanks so very much for popping over!

**  I've had some queries in comments about the silicone glue ... you can also use the foam square if you prefer. I like the glue better, you can round edges easier than with foam square. The foam squares are more rigid too, the silicone glue is flexible for posting, etc. However, sometimes you may prefer more rigid -  if you prefer more rigid then by all means use the mini foam squares. Whatever works for you. The glue I use is from here.

Recycle + Ruby Red Butterfly Challenge - Embossed!

(WOYWW post here and Bizzy Bec's Card is here
or just scroll down they're just below :D)

This was on my desk yesterday and if you look on WOYWW post you will see that I used the Stampendous clear butterfly set, a really lovely set. It was stamped in Versafine Black Onyx and Clear EP. Then coloured with Tombows. Cardboard was the recycled back of icecream packet. Double embossing - dry Textile EF on Black card and wet with stamping.

Colouring the verse (a Word Art Wed. digi, printed on white card last year) to match the shading on the butterfly panel. Also stamped the panel with Hero Arts Linen background stamp in Memento London Fog. Verse is die cut with MB Pinpoint circle die then a black SB Scalloped circles. Inks used are Memento Desert Sand, Rhubarb Stalk and London Fog.
Some folks might think this is a strange verse to put on an encouragement card. However if you knew just a little of what the lady has gone through, as I do, then you would know why the Lord brought it to my mind, and had me hunt it out.
When everything around you seems to be exploding or falling apart, then truly we remember not to trust in horses, chariots or other people who've really let you down, but in our LORD God.
For He is our dear Heavenly Father, He loves each of us dearly and wants to help us through whatever we maybe going though!
I pray it may bless you heart too, in whatever need you may have at this moment, wherever you might be.
Thanks so much every one for popping over for a peek as chat - it means a lot to me! I am woefully behind in commenting but will try and catch up ASAP.

PS also big welcome to new wonderful encourager - her blog is called Nellie's Nest, and clever cards are what Diane makes - do pop over do!

WOYWW + Ink Resist Butterfly Card

Mm, been bit absent, but here today for WOYWW or What is on your workdesk Wednesday over here ..at our Julia's of the Stamping Ground!
Am praying along with lott of other folks for Gods blessing upon our dear head desker's health in the days ahead.
To my desk this morning:
Desk as left last night, sometimes set up my desk for next day at night when I've an idea in my head and want to get a head start on it. You can see I've butterflies on the brain! First effort will be binned I think, back left masked piece. (What I did not realise was that the cheap sponge sticks I used to add ink were going to disintegrate whilst being used with DI. Result: teensy splotches from bits of sponge detritus all over it..) Over at Mrs A's it is R for Recycle (hence the ice-block cardboard box) + R for Ruby Red.  needed an encouragement card, thought this would be good way to make one. Have ink blocks lined up at front of desk with Stampendous butterfly clear stamps on them. There is also  Kaisercraft set on desk too, a long narrow set.
I stamped them in Versafine black onyx with clear EF and coloured with Tombows, adding some red with blending pen to begin developing background on panel, yet to finish it.
A run of butterflies indeed! this was NOT going to be a butterfly card, but daisy card. After doing the ink resist background (SU French Script background stamp, Versamark with clear EP) with Kaleidocolor Riveria ink pad, however, it took a totally different tangent. Took out dies MB Vivienne butterfly with MB Nottingham Flower border instead, added sequins and pearls. The verse "With God all things are possible" is a Print Blocks from 1990's. Snippets used on this card.
To the Aussie shots now:
As I go around the water and land I notice there are often odd combinations of birds that work together. A good lesson for us I think, and this pelican and silver gull seemed to have a good understanding, tolerating one another.

This was a spot where people launched their boats for fishing on the creek, and the creek flows out to sea not that far upstream. I think these two were hoping I had some fish feed on offer as no doubt fish are cleaned, etc nearby here.

Bizzy Bec's "Anything Goes Challenge" Memory Box Prim Poppy

Hullo there everyone - well another blog post for the Design Team of Bizzy Bec's - Aussie Crafty Website Store!
Bec has amazing prices on and you cant find what you want, Bec is only too happy to source it for you.
Each month we have a Store blog challenge, Anything Goes!
Please join us do - prize posted world wide, winner receives Mystery Prize - a die or stamp.
Now to my card, for dear Penny, as it's her birthday today too! On 5/5 :)
I inked up the bricked embossing folder with the Distress ink Antique Linen on the flatter side, so as emphasize the embossing with more dimension.
Thought this would be a brick fence in front of some poppies.

1. Cut two sets of red flower tops and *green stems (*cut 4) as there are only two flowers and one bud in the die.
2. *Double layered the green stems. Shaped the bud + flowers, with shaping tool, before mounting them with small foam squares + glue for doubled stems.
2. SB Elegant largest oval die (doesn't it look like lace? I love this one!) fits perfectly with Cottage Cutz Oval dies.

I have found these stitched Oval dies by Cottage Cutz also work with SB Fancy ovals as well, better than some of the SB plain ovals.
Added HB garland die with some more red snippets.. love dies for snippets!

Thanks so much every one for popping over for a peek and chat!
May God bless your day wherever you may be.
