Scrappy Mo’s Christmas Challenge, Stencilling Snippets + WOYWW

Well, yes! predictably it’s Wednesday here, which means WOYWW or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday over here at Julia’s... AND it’s the 25th!

Exactly one month till Christmas!?

How does that happen? And so it’s the last 2020 Rudolph Day or Christmas challenge at Scrappy Mo’s until the 30th Nov.

Firstly to my desk on Monday night. At the weekend I was watching Eileen Godwin with her Lavinia videos, using masks and gesso... so as I watched I found myself hunting out masks, gesso and two snippets a strip which became the sunflower and one of the stitched rectangular pieces left from frame making for the holly.

And oh! did I have fun when I should’ve been doing other things.

Technique explained:  First ink dusted a base colour with Distress Inks all over on the masked piece allowed it to dry then decided it was too dark, so spritzed it with water and dabbed off with paper towel, finally happy so let it dry again.

So here on my desk I lined up the masks yet again in right spots (not easy!) to add more colours and depth for dimensions. To the holly I added the red pearl drops to great effect.

This is closer to real colour than card photographs below, too.

To sunflower added blue watercolour sky. It was longer scrap of card but cut it down for snippets frame made with Scrapdragon 5 x 7” dies set.

Love these.

Used DI Wild Honey and Mustard Seed on sunflower, Peeled Paint and Pine Needles for the holly leaves. Added Hero Arts prayer set to Sunflower, and Our Daily Bread Stamp set embossed on Christmas card vellum. “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given.” Isaiah 9:6
Each card base top was dry embossed too on one side, a 5 x 7 Courture Creations Christmas folder on prayers , A4 spots on Christmas card, which matched the holly rather well.

Sharing another Christmas card made some weeks back - it’s with the Sweet n Sassy Silhouettes set, like the holly card, using the Christmas tree on this one. Used gold ink stamping on this too. This card adding to Beccy’s challenge along with holly one to help her beat last year’s record entries.

This is my last pair of cards made with the happy birthday die. It’s two cards for one again.. and they are really really pretty with that glitter silver, which is so flat looking in these photos.
Is anyone else finding with the new blogger they have to multiple add editing? This is second time I’ve re-edited parts of this post.
AND just a reminder. ..

You can win this die at my tenth Blogaversary blog candy over here!

This was the card that was supposed to be on last week’s desk, I did get it off in good time along with another early Dec birthday.😊

Onto the Aussie photos today... some to begin with from walk yesterday.

I love paperbark trees or melaleuca.. isn’t it beautiful?
This is down at creek mouth looking over to jetty.
Next are flowers, perhaps some native tucker, I think as common name is sea cabbage, it grows in Sandhills on way to beach, very pretty flower.
These are some white Agapanthus planted down by the creek.
Then when walking up in town..
Here are some crab claw Helaconia, very unusual. Last few are from friends visiting New England district, it’s granite country.
Mushroom rock is a favourite as are the others, very, VERY big rocks.
We lived up there in granite country when young and the big rock formation reminds me of Kangaroo Rocks, which was a five mile walk out of our town. We’d walk out for the day, have a BBQ on the rocks, cooking sausages in a pan on a fire.
We went with friends, then one of parents would come and pick us up. I remember one of the lying down long rocks looked like a thumb and I called it Shaz’s thumb. We named the formations after ourselves
... of course!😄

Well, that’s it for today. Praying much for all in USA, UK, France and many other countries to be kept safe and for God to watch over all whom you love.

Thanks for popping over and saying hi, am hoping to do better this week in visiting, God willing.
Prayer hugs,
Shaz in Oz.x
Thought for the day:
“O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.”
God is omniscient, all knowing
God is omnipresent, everywhere present.
God is omnipotent, all powerful.
However God is God, and we may be very sure, our ways are not His ways, nor His thoughts our thoughts.
May we walk always in the light of this.

A Twofer Christmas with Snippets + WOYWW.

(If you haven’t - please also join in my 10th Blogaversary candy over HERE!)

Well, yes it’s Wednesday, my desk share day, with cards and Aussie fun photos, too! Over at Julia’s here you can see worldwide Workdesks for What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday! And of the wonders of Christmas Twofer?? .. see more below, because desk must come first!

Really this is what I’m supposed to be making a birthday card, with one of those very pretty digi papers and a birthday for the 2nd Dec., since it’s going to Victoria I need to mail it ASAP.. however last night I headed off on another tangent. You see, I added two more folks to my card list. They’re missionaries away over the sea in Africa, who can’t come home as planned for Christmas because of our closed borders, so I decided two more cards last night.. finished them this morning.
Over at Darnell’s Twofer (over here), and just cos it’s Christmas, you’re allowed to make two Christmas cards, not necessarily two different occasions as it is normally! and those stars grabbed me.. with the help of a google search I adapted two card designs I found, to things I had in stash.
Namely a star mask by MB, heat embossed with Versamark in silver EP and some CCD stars  were cut in assorted sizes. I used Poppy stamps “Joy to the world” stamp die set for greeting.
On this card on piece with "Tidings of Comfort and.." I used a NBUS Not Used Before Schtuff (so joining NBUS Challenge here). It's an Avery Elle set of Simple Sentiment dies. Love them and see those Courture Creations glue pens? they're brilliant, larger than most others, never  block and at under $4 in Oz, they're a bargain!
Second card super simple, a star decoration with my totally favourite “Stampendous“ verse, "For unto you is born this day in the city of David is a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:12 and as both of these cards used snippets.. I’m off to the playground too, Snippetty playground challenge here .... AND Miss has a bad shoulder so I’ve lots of prayers for her healing and big bunch of our roses, virtually! due to lockdown... wouldn’t it be grand to really visit! Playground open week longer and we may enter twice!
Now the Aussie shots are courtesy of a grey nomad in our family, remember this rock platform a few week’s back?

Lunch Lady Jan asked how big it was? Well, that piece was relatively small but there were many other parts to the rocky headland at Woody Head.. as these photos show! Have a clamber over it with me 😁
Also someone else asked how big the tree goannas or lace monitors grew, usually they’re 1.5 to 2 metres or approximately 6’.
Not things you argue you with, but usually leave us alone, my BiL had a photo of my sister in her chair reading with one a little to her left behind her. Hoping no doubt she’d be eating and drop something!
Above one checking put a BBQ...
... and one up a tree, hence tree goannas.
Above - these palms are in Whian Whian State forest.
Here below are the willie wagtail fledglings on their beach front yard.
It's spring here, and there is also in their nesting box a fledging rosella, very shy.
This is what rosellas look like, this is courtesy of a SA friend.
Well, that’s it for today, I’m hoping, God willing, to finish my overseas mail today. Done USA, doing UK and Africa!
Praying much for all in USA, UK, France and many other countries to be kept safe and for God to watch over all whom you love.
Thanks for popping over and saying hi, am hoping to do better this week in visiting, God willing.
Prayer hugs,

Thought for the day:
A favourite verse of mine (one of many!) is:
"Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall."
Isaiah 25:4
Are you labouring long in prayer, is your heart heavy, your spirit overwhelmed?
Remember the battle is not mine, yours, ours or theirs....
But the battle is the LORD's.
Rest on His might.
Not resting in self, but resting, really resting in surrender.
For He "hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. "
Praise His glorious name, how He loves us!

Snippetty birthday. See my Candy, Christmas (of course!) + WOYWW

Hi there everyone, yippee, another Wednesday!

So more sharing time... okay desk isn’t very riveting? Ideas abound on a desk that looks remarkably like last weeks! Before I rattle on anymore for those not in the know.. desks are important, because it’s WOYWW (What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday). So pop over to Julia’s desk HERE to join in with much more interesting folk than here!

The observant among you will recognise that birthday card! It is the negative coloured piece left over from my card last week and so yes another card is made with left over bits... don’t you love that?

I’ve also yet to stamp some spares of that Silhouette stamp by Woodware, as I’ve used both that I’d done! Also I saw a great technique on colouring silhouettes that I’m going to try with that stamp so watch this space, probably on water colour paper? Time is issue too many things on the go... namely doing overseas mail for Christmas.

If you haven’t - please also join in my 10th Blogaversary candy over HERE!

Completed cards - this birthday die is by Scrapdragon an Aussie company and is the main part of the one of the two Candy prizes on offer. Magnificent die ...to see how made it, shown as below on last weeks post.

It was distress oxides spritzed with glimmer mist. The rectangle dies are also by Scrapdragon.

Second card is a Christmas card made with a Beccy’s place beautiful image.

Another wreath, with digital “the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the World.” I’ve dry embossed a single layer 5 x 7 card front, added some ribbon and use SB Magnificent Circles around the wreath. Linking with Becky' s amazing Christmas challenge HERE!

Now to Aussie photos! yesterday on my walk... would you like a picnic under this tree with me? We've had amazing spring weather, rain amd sunshine in right amounts.

I had my eyes tested on Mon and always walk off drops... this was the mangroves in creek and a new to me grass tree.. beautiful flower!

Some more plants on walk, the first is Dietes bicolor (or African iris or fortnight lily), second is a cycad in flower..

So that’s it for today, and please do not forget my 10th Blogaversary post over HERE! And please leave me a comment if you’re a wonderful encourager. You’ll make my day. Thanks to all who comment, I'm finding since blogger update it is very difficult to comment on many blogs. When you write 4 comments and only 2 publish its VERY  hard.

May the Lord bless and keep you all well and safe.

Prayer hugs 🙏🤗

Twofold Thought for The Day:

Armistice Day here in Aust.

I am so very grateful for all who are serving now, have served in keeping the freedoms of Australia.

"In the morning and at the going down of the sun, we will remember them.. "

Thank you Lord God for all their sacrifices. We are truly blessed.
