Bit late for WOYWW today as had not time before heading up the coast 30 mins to spend the day with Brisbane rellies who were down – and great time was had by all! now after 7pm here!
For anyone who may not know what WOYWW is please head across to our gracious hostess, Julia’s, blog for a great viewing world wide of desks on display!
Now to the business end and my desk – here you can see it is quite littered and is even more than this but there are things for viewing later so I’ve cut them out.
There is card in lower left almost completed from the lovely papers, bling, lace, ribbons, buttons etc. from Elizabeth’s amazing bounty shown here on right. I decided to save it for Christmas morning as knew most of my gifts and so very nice to get a surprise – here it is in all its beauty!
Here is the card which have made from it – first one and sending it to my dear friend in Wollongong, who loves Beatrix Potter – this is Hunca Munca the ever so cute mouse for those not familiar with it. I have seen Miss Potter's farm up in the Lakes District, a beautiful part of UK. One stunning clear autumn day in 2009. Had a pork pie sitting on the seat outside her wee farmhouse – loved her bedroom, and bay window with seat – what was so lovely they had the pages of her books open at the parts of her home which featured in the pictures of the books – spent ages in there drinking it all in! For those wanting to know, the Fleur de Lis Spellbinder is the mount for Hunca Munca.
So thanks very much dear friend Elizabeth - and anyone who wants to see her amazing card it is on the bottom of this post here.
And yes! here is the weather in Oz, where I live – lovely sunny weather for each of the days. Here is my beach walk or part thereof with folks enjoying a late afternoon on Boxing Day. In top shot it is people swimming in the water not ducks!
Thanks for popping over every one for a peek and chat – may God bless your day wherever you may be,
Shaz in Oz. x

ReplyDeleteCan you keep the weather beautiful while we drive through this week on our way to Brisbane and Gold coast. Last year we hit those awful weather from the cyclone. Your card is in the mail

Some lovely items in that box!! The generosity of folk on WOYWW is wonderful and is proof that not all is terrible with the world these days. Your beach is beautiful, I can;t wait to go in the water at 'my' beach, but that won't be for a few months yet, lol!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your friendship and support, I really do treasure it :)
Hugs, LLJ #35 xx
What fabulous colours you have to work with there! I love it. :) I wish I could email you some cake, hehe! Happy WOYWW! Tango, #37
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz, your photographs show us how beautiful your country is- how wonderful to live close by such stunning scenery. I love the colours in your card, by the way. And thank you for the link to the Craft a scene site, I've just joined up & posted my link for the DT call. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and wish you a very Happy New Year, Love Shaz xx
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine having such a beautiful walk so close by! That must be wonderful! Love your desk and your card is so pretty. I love the image and how you used different mediums to finish it! Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteLovely present there Shaz and a pretty card. I have been to the Lake District many times but never to Hill Top but I did see some of Beatrice's original watercolours in the museum at Hawkshead.
ReplyDeleteHope you have had a good Christmas and wishing you and yours all the best for a happy and peaceful new year.

PS thanks for dropping in on me and for your good wishes for Sorrel. Been to the vets and she has had antibiotic injection and we have some 'special' food to help her tummy get back to normal.
Thank you for all the encouraging messages throughout the past year. I have loved reading about all you do, and admiring so much your wonderful inspiring calligraphy. I look forward to reading much more from you in 2012. Have a wonderful creative New Year. Hugs xx Maggie #50
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz, you've been crafting already while I'm still getting over Christmas and haven't done a thing - I'm such a slouch :( Love the card, the image is beautifully coloured and I love that die. And the background story too - I just love the thought of having a window seat looking out on to the beautiful Lakes views. Another must to add to the bucket list - I've been to the Lakes many times but yet to visit Hill Farm. Swimming on Boxing Day - now there's a thought! I wouldn't even dip a toe in the sea here at Ayr - too cold by half :)) Hope you had a good time with your rellies today - we can't go anywhere as there's a gale and we've been warned to stay at home. Might just find some time to craft after all ;) I'm off to look at this new challenge blog, thanks for the link. Hope you enjoy the New Year celebrations and that 2012 will bring health, happiness and prosperty to you and yours. Elizabeth x #65

I don't have my own beach of course, but when my parents lived in Sydney they had a flat overlooking the water and my then 4 year old used to refer to it as Granny's opera upside... Happy memories! Would love a warm beach Christmas, how nice! Lovely surprise from Elizabeth..and all beautifully colour co-ordinated.

ReplyDeleteLovely gifts from Elizabeth there Shaz, what an ambassador for friendship Julia is!! I love Beatrix Potter's house and have visited it twice but it gets so incredibly packed with visitors these days, especially after they made that film about her life. Love the calm blue waters there, I'd be in that lagoon swimming too! Have a wonderful New Year, and I'll see you in 2012.

Hi Shaz,
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks so neat compared to mine - I shall have to find the energy to clean my desk.
Such lovely, peaceful photos and it must be lovely and warm up where you are.
LOVE your Hunca Munca card - I do so love Beatrix Potter images and I am sure your friend will love her card very much.
{{hugs}} and blessings

Hi Shaz, must be the year for us & DT's. I also have been offered one to start in January, like you I am waiting for the details, so haven't siad anything yet! Good Luck to both of us, eh? Love Shaz
ReplyDeleteMe again, just found your next post- the glue does get quite hot,but it is the metal nozzle at the front that you are much more likely to get a burn from. Having said that, there are cool melt glue guns available, which work exactly the same, but the glue stick melts at a much lower temperature. Hope this helps Shaz, Love Shaz
ReplyDeleteThank you for the warm WOYWW welcome hun! Wow, that is an interesting work space - I could be happy there for hours. Hugs Sxx
ReplyDeleteВсе равно мне не все понятно с переводом, но очень понятно, что ты замечательный и добрый человек.
ReplyDeleteIn top shot it is people swimming in the water not ducks! :))))
Было смешно читать... не утки )))
Для меня необычно видеть, что люди купаются, тогда когда у нас снег и холодно...
Good luck with your DT work. You and Shaz look like being very busy people. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Good luck to you both. xx Hugs Maggie #49

ReplyDeleteI still do not understand everything in translation, but it is very clear that you are a great and good woman.

It was funny to read ... not duck)))
For me, unusual to see people swimming, then when we have snow and cold ...
oooh! such weather! I Skyped Perth on Christmas day and they couldn't believe it was 11C here and were shivering at the thought. That's mild for us this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI'm just back home from the South Coast of England visiting my family so quick catch up to thank you for all your lovely comments and fun and inspiration on your blog!
Here's to a great New Year 2012!! Health, Happiness, Peace & Joy,
Love JoZarty x
Happy New Year Shaz!! What a lovely card you made from your goodies!
ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning about our new scene challenge blog!! It is going to be so much fun learning from people around the world. We each see nature in a different light...thank goodness, or all art would look the same!
I do hope you have a wonderful New years and hope you are blessed with good health and prosperity! I look forward to another wonderful year of your incredible artwork.
Hugs,
Sheree
