What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday

{{Addendum A Big welcome to my latest follower Julie, a fairly new blogger - do take a peek at her lovely blog.  Also another newbie at blogging, doing a great job and needs some encouragement - Debbie, her lovely blog is here she has joined WOYWW but not many folk have joined her on the hop - thanks so much for sharing a little Goodwill at this time}}

Happy WOYWW or What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday everyone.
If you would like to join a very merry band of crafty folk on the world's biggest desk hop then pop over to our hostess Julia's beaut blog for a peek!
 What is happening here?
Well, actually it is really what has happened here, as the table out there is cleaned up again! Getting ready for present wrapping and all those sorts of things. Yes, thankfully all the cards sitting on my desk  last week WOYWW are posted or given out - last lot went on Monday.
Desk hopping was neglected last week and am trying to catch up - if have missed any one, which I know I have, I am terribly sorry, will do better this week hopefully!
Anyway what was I making on this desk - some of you will no doubt think I have totally lost the plot, but I'm making Christmas cards!!
You see, I have had this idea humming in my head for a Christmas card - but did not have time to do it. I do all my cards by end of November so I can get to the big task of getting them all off with less drama - cannot cope with doing them any later. I made my first one for this year here it was on the same day last year! I gave it to my dad this year. I have posted the two cards already, for more details, etc look below or here. I have also posted the post on papyrus calligraphy, which I spoke of last week as my friends have received it.
I wonder what sort of Christmas dinner you will be having?
Do you know how many hot Christmas dinners I have had in my life? One, when I was eight years old! my Yorkshire grandmother in Tamworth NSW, cooked us a hot Christmas dinner. Until I was twenty one I had spent every Christmas dinner except that one in a tent. We went camping down where I live now at the beach, til we moved here - why not, with this view five minutes walk from here?
So every year back then, we had an extra posh salad - and really that is what we do now! This year with barbequed lamb instead of cold meats. Not everyone here are like us - but lots are and seafood also makes a very big appearance on an Aussie Christmas dinner table.

May the Lord bless you all richly this Christmas, as we take time to remember the One after whom this season is named - God bless and HAPPY CHRISTMAS,
Shaz in Oz.x
PS. Well, such great excitement is here!! woo hoo!  just had postie at the door
Look what she has brought! a wee (well, really a big parcel) parcel all the way from bonnie Scotland! Elizabeth  Silver Scrapper's very, very yummy candy has arrived - look at this so very awesome card on it with lovely wishes inside - wow! how very blessed am I? You see my Blogaversary candy was drawn on 30.11.11 and so was Birthday candy of Elizabeth's. In the week my candy was drawn I won two (other is on last weeks post) and have never won blog candy before - so there you go. I am going to open it for Christmas and if you want to know what is in it look here! Great details on her tartan multiple die cuts card, aren't there?

Cant stay on here long now as have 5 stitches in right forearm (mm, pity am right handed), the skin cancer doctor did some cutting out, and rather sore!

  1. Hi Shaz! Merry Christmas to you. Your calligraphy came out looking quite nice. I'm sure the recipient just loves it.

I've been thinking of putting a "watermark" on my photos too -- how do you do that?

  2. Christmas and seafood, a fantastic combination. We are going out for Christmas Day lunch, just me, Mr B and his Mum. We go to my sister's in the morning for the Great Present Exchange with sis and her family and then a quiet day. Big celebration for us is New Year when we go down to Bristol to Mr B's daughter and the three Grandchildren.

Still Tuesday here but happy WOYWW to you and Merry Christmas

  3. Great makes Shaz. We will be having a turkey and all the trimmings, but it is a little chillier here in the Lake District than where you are!!
    Happy WOYWW and Merry Christmas.

How lovely to have Christmas day on the beach although I must admit I do so love a traditional English Christmas where its cold outside and we have a hot dinner too! Congrutulations on your win and I hope your arm is better soon. Have a wonderful Christmas. Sunshine Girl – No 38

  13. It is interesting how different Christmases are depending on where you are. We are in the southern states but it is still cool enough for a full cooked Ham, sweet potatoes, and vegies. Hope you and your family enjoy a Merry Christmas holiday. Thanks for sharing. Vickie #44

  15. Funny how it is isn't it. I won to blog candies the other week to (hqaving never won anything) and it was so lovely to receive lovely gifts in the post and when they are so beautifully wrapped to! We of course have cold weather (more typically grey and rainy rather than preferred blue sky and white (frost or snow is fine!). As it is cold hot food takes preference (although boxing day is often cold meat and salad things). In my house we traditionally eat Goose and roast potatoes :) oh and show topped Christmas spice cake (light and cinnamon flavoured rather than the heavier fruit cake. Have a lovely time at the beach in the sun. Merry Christmas x

  16. Our tradition here in Coventry is for Roast Goose and roast potatoes (but then it is cold here! - if we are lucky there is snow or frost, more typically it is grey and rainy.....). Dinner is followed by Christmas Spice Cake (much lighter than traditional Christmas cakes and full of my favourite seasonal flavours like cinnamon, ginger and orange :) I was lucky enough to win a couple of candy give a ways recently to, so nice to receive things in the post, more so in this electronic age. Merry Christmas from Coventry x

  17. If I lived where you did, Christmas dinner would be a barbie and salad too! But here, in deepest Wiltshire, you need something warming! Much as I love roast turkey, the best Christmas nosh for me is the leftover veggies made into bubble and squeak the next day with cold meats and pickles, followed the next day by proper turkey soup, yum yum!
Wishing you joy and happiness this Christmas,
    Hugs, LLJ #43 xx

  21. Hi Shaz
You are looking far too organised for a few days before Christmas but then with your fantastic weather a scenery I think I'd be organsied too so that I could be out enjoying it.
Our Christmas dinner this year is Roast Duck, lots of yummy stuffings, roast potatoes and lots of veg followed by Grandma's Christmas pudding and brandy sauce!!
I hope your arm heals quickly and is all back to normal soon.

  22. Gosh I can't imagine spending Christmas in a tent but when it's hot and you have that beautiful beach right there then why not!! Beautiful package from Elizabeth and how sweet that you're keeping it for Christmas. I was very lucky this year with a couple of candy wins and a couple of card wins too so I was very happy, it's a great feeling isn't it?

I hope you and your family all have a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to spending 2012 in your company too.

    Hugs

  23. We were going to emigrate to Oz but I don't think I could cope with the heat and and the amount of bugs that can kill you and a nice hot crimbo dinner!

    Merry Christmas

  24. Hi Shaz, such a relief to see that the candy has arrived safely and before Christmas - I hope you enjoy it.

Sorry to hear about your arm. My DH had to have a melanoma removed 5 years ago - it was on his shoulder - he will probably get the all-clear on his next visit to the hospital. I would think that skin cancer is quite common in your part of the world - all that sun. Here in Scotland it is much less a hazard, though on the rare sunny days it is possible that we overdo the sunbathing :)

We will be having a hot Christmas lunch, salad wouldn't do it for my DH, he is a traditionalist - and an Englishman so it will be roast turkey with all the trimmings for him but I'm not keen and usually have a vegetarian treat instead. I'm not even keen on Christmas pudding and cake which is why I made Lisa's pudding this year - it is altogether much lighter though still has fruit, nuts and cinnamon in it - with ice cream it will be perfect.

Take care, enjoy the holidays and Merry Christmas from Scotland.

  25. Oh Shaz, you're sore, am sorry about that! happy to hear that he's cutting it away rather than having you battle it. I enlarged your beach view and showed Mr D...and then talked of slow barbecued lamb and salad for Christmas lunch....we feel homesick for somewhere we've never lived!!
Blessings and cheer to you for Christmas! Xx

  34. Poor you, with a sore arm just in time for Christmas. Hope the results are worthwhile though - that is the important thing. Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest. You might like to pop back to my blog and read about yet another scam which seems to be doing the rounds (we have just been called from them), just when we are up to our eyes in last minute preparations. Have a lovely Christmas, and we will speak again afterwards.

Thanks for becoming an "encourager" of my blog - it's much appreciated!

Sorry to hear your arm is poorly - hope it feels better soon.

Enjoy your Christmas dinner even though it sounds wrong to me to even consider anything other than a turkey and all the trimmings!
