PanPastels, Brenda of Floral Fantasies + WOYWW

Hullo there everyone - well here we are at WOYWW once more!
What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. For link over to look & learn here is our wonderful Julia's blog - the Stamping Ground for one big, exciting blog hop!
The other day was over at one of my favourite blogs - B.'s blog, or as most know her, Brenda of Floral Fantasies.. and saw this lovely card, on this post here!
Isn't it just the loveliest image?Brenda is such an inspiring, creative lady lady as well as being very kind, generous and caring. She does not keep good health, but does so much in spite of it all.
I thought, "Mm, well I could try that!" You see 'cos I had been categorising my stamps I knew I had one sort of like it - a Hero Arts one (inked up on desk).
So off I went to play, as you can see on my desk! practise piece on back of envelope, with stamps and ink and....

Some of you know there was big birthday this year (yes! you guessed 21, well done :D) - and so some delicious PanPastels arrived here in Oz. Ooo- yum.. and here I am doing some learning. I can do it after all!!
Wow, they are so easy. I finally have found a paper I like to use with them. I had tried several different ones but have found some smooth ones do not work well. Linen are great + paper card with tooth. These somehow were not my cup of tea. Brenda had suggested the one she used, but it is not available here. I found one in my craft cupboard (*huge grin*) worked just beautifully. Called X-Press It - A4 Blending card it is great for use with Copic or  alcohol markers - in fact that it is made to be used with them.
I am going to enter the competition B. has this month at her blog ( see here) where you can submit any card which is an inspiration of her blog.
At first I thought poppies, I had not fixed on anything till saw her card the other day - so here B. am dedicating these two cards to you!  Thank you so very very much for all your help over the Panpastels, you are greatly appreciated!
I will close with two photos taken on phone from my beach walk, late in the afternoon, on Monday. Yesterday I enjoyed a swim down at the jetty beach which was simply lovely....we are so blessed at the moment. The water is finally clean after all the floods, so lovely the temperature for swimming.
I am sending all over blogland heaps of Aussie sunshine (oh how wish I could)!

Thanks so much everyone for popping over for peek and chat; also a big welcome to my latest Wonderful Encourager - Debs Of Debs' Designs!
Happy WOYWW and may God bless your Easter time, where we remember the death and resurrection of our LORD and Saviour, Jesus Christ - He is not here - He is risen, as He said,

  4. The pan pastels are lovely, but the beach, ah, the beach and being able to go swimming....ah. So inviting. We had a snow storm yesterday. Lol. But today it was crisp and cold and there was light in the sky until almost 9:00 in the evening...
Happy Belated Birthday - fab present all those lovely colors of pan pastels. Such fun...I have about three but they are so smooth. Interesting it took a while to find the proper paper. I tried one in my sketch book and it worked well and come to think of it, there was teeth to the paper. Thanks for the hint, and the little journey to warmth. Have a good week.

  10. Wish I could get to grips with my pan pastels, just don't get them at all. Love both of your cards though - maybe you can pop over and give me a lesson, I'll put the kettle on and you can bring some of that sunshine. Bitterly cold here.

  18. Good Morning Shaz,

I will pass your message about the surf onto my son, I know he will be envious of the waves and warmth as it's be so cold here despite is supposedly being Spring.

I am so pleased you are getting to grips and liking your Pan Pastels, just as I knew you would as they are perfect for your style of crafting. And pleased you found some cardstock that works for you, I think it's very much a personal thing.

And of course I love what you have created here using them, the soft blends of colour with that lovely Hero Arts image are beautiful and so delicate looking.

Thank you so much for creating such special pieces to join in my blog celebration and for your friendship which is always much appreciated.

BTW - I have one of those special 21st coming up so your not alone.

  20. Well, Shaz, as you know, coveting is wrong.... but....have to say I am somewhat envious of your walk along the beach! Hubby and I have not managed that for AGES as it is still far too cold for him to be out, here in North Wales. Here, near Llandudno, most of the snow has gone - and I have to say, it does look simply glorious, and we have had a little sun this morning - but the night temperatures are still 0 degrees, and the daytime nowhere above 5 - so with major chest issues, hubby simply can't go out in that. This time last year we were out each day in temperatures of 20plus - no coats, no cardigans.
Your cards are beautiful - well done, mastering the pastels.

  24. Thank you for the thought of all that lovely warmth - don't we need it? Global warming seems to be working in reverse round here, we need blankets and hot water bottles etc. Your cards are so delicate and pretty, a real joy to behold. I do agree about Brenda, especially having worked with her on DT work recently - her work is special. I am delighted by how many people have said they agree with my efforts to buy locally, hard though it is. Hope you have a good Easter, and maybe some warm swims in the ocean, lucky girl. xx Maggie #17

  49. Hi Shaz, love your pan pastel pieces and the finished cards are lovely - backgrounds are beautiful and I'm sure Brenda is going to like them too. Sending the sun might just have worked - it's been sunny here today and the temperature has finally risen above zero again and one brave daffodil has spread its petals just in time for the clocks to go forward and bring on British summertime. Oh, and we've booked our summer holiday today too - we're off to the Highlands in June - yippee :) I wish you a happy Easter and an enjoyable weekend. Elizabeth x #45

  55. Cann't remember if I have replied on this post or not...oh well, I am sure you won't mind an extra comment!

Gorgeous take on Branda's style...perfect for her contest. I really enjoyed seeing the Fleur de Lis square cut into corners like that...it is so effective.

I hope to get something made on Easter Sunday. We are usually away at Easter but home this year. The kids are busy throwing a 25th wedding anniversary party for my son-in-law's parents so no family celebration for us...

Instead, we have Little Miss C and Little Mr P tonight (Good Friday) and keep them until supper tomorrow on Holy Saturday. My daughter will pick them up at 4 pm...we will have an early supper as they will go straight to church for the Saturday vigil..such a blessed time of year.

We have made a card each for them to give their parents and are off tomorrow to ride the little train at Stanley Park...our beloved huge, park, right within the city of Vancouver. They have a special Easter TRain so hope it will be fun!
