Hullo everyone, Wednesday again!! So WOYWW post (What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday) over with our Julia @ Stamping Ground.
Not much to show for the crafty side except card already made before cataract surgery last week (going well, thanks for prayers/ thoughts, MUST be patient in healing process :D).
Our autumn is just amazing, stunning days as the photos show, our garden is in view.

Our autumn is just amazing, stunning days as the photos show, our garden is in view.
First a flower named after me, (Sharon, well not quite) called Rose of Sharon. This name is loosely used for many plants, including bulb plant mentioned in Song of Solomon in the Bible. Ours is tall, about 12 foot.
Yes, that is how blue our skies are we are very, very blessed.. about 15 - 25c for our autumn days.
Here are links to help with what we in Oz commonly call Rose of Sharon, is of Hibiscus family - see links:
Also thought that should update the Pineapple growing here - just to refresh you memory on previous two posts - see here and here, was palnted from top of shop bought fruit.
Photo 1: 6th Feb. 2013 |
Photo 2: 6th march 2013 |
Photo 3: Then we have it 27th April 2013, 7 weeks later and it is nearly the full 30cm or 12 inches. Wont get much bigger - just ripen on bush.
Well, a snippets card here - funny how you have stash for simply ages
then come across it and think YES! ideas pop into mind.
A little Robin said to another Robin....
Well, this is one. I finally used up these two feathered robins, so cute, bought few years ago, realised the border was the perfect match, also for ages neglected.
Tree was my own construct out of scrap+ Pan pastels to get the lovely texture on colouring (lost on photo). Leaves a Martha Stewart punch, bought pre-punched on eBay + Distressed Strips Cuttlebug folder. My friend's birthday card, her name is Robin so very appropriate ... off to play in the Snippets playground! wahoo!
Thanks so much for popping over for a peek and chat, may God bless your day wherever you may be,
Shaz in Oz.x
PS. I will comment as able struggle with some as they will not magnify, or have black backgrounds.
I find its really the hardest. not sure why.
I highlight the page in blue so writing is white and background is blue then can read them so much easier.. even if pickies look a little weird :D

Your flowers are so beautiful! I wish we could smell this post! :-) The pineapple saga is great. It's coming right along isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThe card is beautiful too! You have a real talent for making these beauties.
Blessings,
Betsy
Such pretty flowers! That pineapple is really growing. I do not think I had ever seen one on the plant until you shared pictures of it. Love the card. Those birds are adorable. You are right that the border is a perfect match. I would have thought they came together. I always seem to work on a project then set it aside and have the best ideas on how to finish it a few days later. LOL
ReplyDeleteShaz
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so lovely. They look a wee bit like hollyhocks.

I love that robins card, Shaz! Fairly simple but so effective..that's my cup of tea, definitely! Gorgeous flower pics too :)
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ 27 xxxx
How fun to see an actual Rose of Sharon - it is a very old quilt pattern and now I have a better understanding of the traditional colors. Not that I will go out and make it (since - gasp - it is an appliqué pattern) but it is nice to know. Glad to hear the recovery is going well. God has funny ways of reminding/teaching us to be patient! Have a great week Shaz.

ReplyDeleteLove the rose of sharon...I have one growing that is similar that has purple and white blossoms on it. It lives near the pool and loves all the reflected light and heat. Beautiful card with those stunning birds! I just cut up a pineapple tonight and may try to grow a pineapple in a pot cause I doubt it would grow outside in the winter here. Hope you have a great week and thanks for sharing! Vickie #41

ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely pictures, and hope the eyes are doing fine (I have 1 still to go). Loved your card too. Interesting bit on the pans, I'm just investing in those, must learn to use! Your border was so pretty with the robins, and what a perfect card for someone with that name. She'll love it. TFS & Blessed healing. Hugs
ReplyDeleteOh my word that Rose is just beautiful, I am such a hibiscus lover..prolly because they seem so exotic and rampant anywhere it's warm! Fancy having a 12ft tree of those precious gems..lovely. Girlfriend, I feel you shouldnt really worry about comments and blog reading for now..only a week since the surgery..be patient..we' ll hear from you when the time is right and the patience has paid off, huh!
ReplyDeletePretty flowers. LOVE pineapple. We buy one every week. LOL! To think...we used to buy canned. =/ Fresh is best! Gorgeous plant. Happy Wednesday!

lovely to hear you are on the mend, Shaz. The card is a real beauty! I love the birds, and combined with the fabulous flowers and the embossed fence it makes a wonderful scene. Your pineapple picture brings back memories of my trip to Rwanda. there was a field full opposite our hotel, and they were available for breakfast each morning
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz
ReplyDeleteglad to hear the eye op went well and hopefully it wont be long before everything is back to normal..... or better. the garden is looking great,
janet #32

Beautiful photos of the plants and gorgeous blue sky. Glad the eyes are healing. Lovely card.
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz, I hope you are recovering well from your recent op.
ReplyDeleteYour Rose of Sharon is so much prettier than the one I have in my garden ... it's a hypericum calycinum, with a little yellow flower, and the variety we have is called Rose of Sharon even though it looks nothing like a hibiscus flower.
Your pineapple is coming along nicely too - how long before you can eat it, I wonder.
Your snippet card is great - love the little birds. It is funny how stash can go in and out of favour too - in this case it was serendipity - you found just the right border at the right time :)
Hope you have a good week. Elizabeth x #92
love your card and love that pineapple too, you won't want to eat that, it's become a pet!!
ReplyDeleteI bit late! Have a great crafty week!
HaPpY WoYwW!?!

Like your feathered birds on your card. A Rose of Sharon is generally yellow here in England so nice to see a different colour.
ReplyDeleteHope you continue to improve after your surgery. Hugs Mrs A.
Your snippets card is gorgeous! I love it! Your flowers and pineapple photo's are lovely and I hope your eyes continue to improve after your operation - it is so wonderful what can be done these days!! xx
ReplyDeleteMy goodness...the garden pictures are fabulous! We have only a few bulbs and really early spring perennials blooming. In fact I am dividing up like mad before the hotter weather arrives tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThe pineapple looks yummy, now I am craving a stirfry!
Love how you found the robins in your stqash for your friend of the same name...and you are right the border is a perfect match! The embossing folder is fantastic!
Don't rush your eyes. How you recover affects you forever...so be very patient my dear and let yourself be a patient!
Hugs
Maureen
Hi Shaz, glad to hear you are recovering well :) Your garden is fantastic, we have a couple of pineapple tops in pots, probably too cool here for them to fruit. Yours is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLovely robin card Too :) Cathy x
