WOYWW Embossing tip + Flowering Mother-in-law Tongue

Hullo there everyone - YES! 'Tis Wednesday and desk showing/ sharing and all that  time again!! Pop over to Julia's to see what I am raving on about - we all join together to share and learn on a world wide desk hop. Here is my messy desk!!
As you can see I am making a card or two actually! One on right is the upcycled card with Tree verse and also poinsettias made with Britannia die.
Also card on the left I am making a baby card for my sister but has come to a halt as she does not know middle name and want to put details on that scrappy piece (at the moment, which change it) on left of the card.

Here is my favourite tip this year .. to cut a fine edge around a die cut, simply emboss the piece you want to cut then use the very outside edge for your cut line.. and then sits nice and neatly on it too. Easy peasy! as you have embossing mat etc already from doing original dies cut it is quicker and more accurate than tracing around it.
Now quick show of cards made..
These were made same as the ones on last post - see below! Also on it is a poem if you want one to put inside your Christmas card free to use it.
This one was made with same dies up above from Britannia - really love them! and thee snowy cottage image was a photo on a card of my friend's home in Nettleham (Lincolnshire). I made her this card with a image from photo, on fancy labels 8 spellbinder. The "Joy' was a Srapmatt's piece discontinued sadly as tried to buy some more. Snowflake EF is also Disc. was cuttlebug one.
Now for the Australian photo of the day the Mother-in-law's tongue is flowering again... has been from months tactfully this one was beauty though!!
Many thanks every one of you for popping over for a peek and chat and may God bless your day wherever you may be! Shaz in Oz.x
EDIT: Am sorry, commenting will be hindered a little as had a bit of fall this afternoon and laid up - am fine, but cant sit much on desktop. Will do best on mobile :D but it is an ancient model. (like me! *grin*)

  1. Wow, you've been busy...Wonderful designs and embossing. Very nice! Thanks for blessing us with your artwork this week at Word Art Wednesday. Leaving you with God's Word in Proverbs 18:10 which says, "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." God bless, always!

  4. Don't worry about comments, just be careful with yourself! Poor you, falling as a grown up is such a shock. Feel better soon, huh. Love the cards, so thoughtful to include their house in your art. Never ever seen the flower on a MinL's tongue.. Fascinating, isn't it pretty!

  9. You just sit (lie) there and take it easy - bit of being waited on is good for the soul! Glad the fall didn't do any permanent damage. Love the frame on that tree.

  11. Hi SHaron, sorry to hear about the fall, and hope you mend up real fast. You have been one busy bee with all these lovely cards. I like how you made each of the Joy cards so different with your paper choices. Loving the snow-y cottage card, and thanks for the die cut trimming tip. We had MIL tongue plants in Fla, & honestly, I never saw one flower before. Of course ours were in pots..so maybe that's why???It's very pretty. Always enjoy your photos. TFS, Hugs & Merry Christmas.

  14. Well, first, my friend, I am terribly sorry to hear that you fell and I hope you make sure nothing popped, as it were. Rest up. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me on your mobile!

Your post is great today! I love seeing all your beautiful cards and thank you the reminder on embossing before cutting. I always forget about that!

Thank you, too, for showing the MIL flower! We had one in our house for 35 years, just slowing growing in a glass of water, without soil! I sure never knew they were an outdoor plant, but maybe our zones are different. Anyway, it was fascinating to see!!

Happy WOYWW and happy healing! Take care! Hugs, Darnell #22

  18. Shaz, thanks for visiting me.
I love your red and gold cards, very stylish and to the point. Don't they look different in red compared to the blue ones in you previous post.
I think your poem is much nicer that my 'pome' but then yours has amuch more important message. I might just use it for next year's cards.
And the Mother in law's tongue with a flower is amazing.
Saw you have had a fall, hope you are not too badly bruised. I fell over the door of the dishwasher 10 days ago, some very spectacular bruises. Do take care,
    Bless you

  20. Beautiful card and embossing. Strange to say, I have never thought of a Mother-in-Law's Tongue being a flowering plant. It is obviously very happy where you have it. I love seeing your photos of your garden and lovely surroundings. I have a few boxes of plants to put in, when I get a chance and some wall flowers and bulbs too to give me some spring colour, hopefully. I am also expecting a delivery of fruit bushes to be put in as well to get them established before next year. I shall do photos and post them to show progression. Hope you are feeling well at the moment. have a good week. xx Maggie #23

  23. That's a really good tip. Not one you would think to do yourself. Simple but effective. After my initial not liking the Britannia dies (thought them a tad small ) I have since come round to using thm a lot and like them now! Hugs Mrs a.
