Inking up Embossing folder + WOYWW

Hullo there everyone! Well, as quick as a blink it is now time again for  WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday hosted at our Head Desker, Julia of the Stamping Ground. Take a peek and learn just what folks are crafting making creating all
over the world!
Well here is my desk as of now! A mess indeed, but creative one! an umbrella card from a precious friend is in the centre -  stamps near monkeys ready to put away as cleaned, few faithful tools, on left front is a card in process of being made. I surely hope I get to it today and one other out of view almost done .. two cards on go, plus one need to start...
Last week's desk brought some interest on inking up embossing folders, so have  taken some photos to share steps. Desk two days ago:
Silver fern folder by Craft Concepts - use Brilliance pigment ink spots as have great sheen and easy.
Another inky effect all cut up ready to assemble on half made card... from Oriental set by Cuttlebug.
Step one: ink up base colour flattest side of embossing folder  - this can vary.
Blue one above is opposite side to this one.
Step 2: Emboss in cuttlebug. Clean folder sooner rather than later as much easier before drying :D wonder why I know?
Step 3: Added inks above to achieve effect desired.
The card on my desk came yesterday from France, isn't it so lovely? admired it on Anne's blog over here and lo! it appeared in my letter box - so kind!
Now to the view from Oz today... yes it is just this beautiful five minutes walk from here over at the special spot I like to wander when time permits.. how's this for a glorious part of Gods creation?!
Thanks so much everyone for popping over for peek and chat - you make my day. May God bless your day wherever you may be.

PS cards from last week on posts below.. bit of catch up, if you want to peek!

  8. Hello Shaz. The card from Anne is lovely. I've not tried that technique with embossing folders - need to have a play knee permitting. ( It is a bit easier than it was) Love the photo of beach. I am longing to see the sea. We were due to go for a week in May but have cancelled at moment while sort my knee out :-( Anne x #50

  15. Hi Shaz. Lovely cards as usual. You are very gifted. I've played a little with inking up embossing folders - fun stuff! - must try more of it. Did you use more than the one colour actually on the folder - or did you add the extra colours afterwards?
Thanks for already visiting - thanks for your prayers for John - He saw his specialist yesterday. He has changed some meds, taken loads of bloods, wants different samples over the next week.... so we await the results. He is up and about today, which is good, and feels a little better.
Glad you like the fun with the colours - it's a Sheena technique and I have used it a lot - it is so very effective.

  16. I've inked up embossing folders before and used them as mono printing devices but I've never thought to then "over ink" the designs once printed. You certainly do live in a beautiful place, and I loved the baby Platypus from the earlier post. Puggles in America are a breed of dog! A cross between a Pug and something else, forget what!!

  19. A great technique, Shaz. I've seen the first part done, and was always put off by the fact that the raised part doesn't get inked, but with your second stage, it's pure magic! Lovely! I love the Oriental card, too - I'd love to make some like that.

Many thanks for your lovely comment, and I'm glad you like my knitting. Yes, it takes a lot of patience, and I do get frustrated when I have to undo it because I've gone wrong! This project has been on the go for over two years so it's high time it was finished. So far I'm pleased with the results, anyway.

    Happy WOYWW,

  24. Beautiful embossed images there this week, Shaz. I have just treated myself to a new embossing machine - the EBosser, which is electric, but seems to have a better reputation that the original Tim one, which seemed to combust too often. It is good and saves my poor shoulder. I am so jealous of that lovely sunny sea view, after my grey windy shots. Thank you for your visits and your lovely comments. xx Maggie #28

  26. Inking up the embossing folders certainly gives a wonderful look. I've only tried it once and the paper slipped inside the folder so it didn't look good at all. I suppose practice makes perfect. That is a lovely oriental card and how nice that you admired in on a blog and now you can admire it in person. Judy #89

  27. Hello Shaz! Your cards are as beautiful as always. I sure with cardmaking was a gift I had, but I guess I shouldn't complain about it since I have other hobbies I enjoy. :-) Your view five minutes from home is gorgeous. I don't think I could ever tear myself away from there if I lived that close.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
