{Warning - Picture heavy post}
Hullo there everyone.. well, another "desky " share (or two or three) as it is Wednesday
again!! and that means the great worldwide Blog-hop around desks of the
world for WOYWW or What is On Your workdesk Wednesday.. pop over to our Queen of desks, at Julia's Stamping Ground!
To my desk- several in fact:
Here I am showing the greeting close up, and the die cut pops out easily with the double sided tape as you can see. However, can you see what bugs me about this particular greeting? (from a set by Impression Obsession) That "B" is all wrong, slope and shape wise. It escaped me, when buying it but it yells at me when using it. The rest are fine .. just one letter. |
Here is completed card. If you scroll down to post below, you will see I added the beach sand from our beach down the road with embossing paste. The shells were ones are from all over in Oz; tiny pebbles from courtyard garden where the card photos are taken. These images are coloured with dye inks, hand made cloud mask + Caran D'Ache pencils. Corners - SB Fleur de Lis Square die turned into corners. EDT: The Sea card won top three over a Stamping Sensations. |
My desk two days ago. Was was working on Thomas' card. As you can see Thomas is six!! His birthday is tomorrow. One sleepless night the LORD gave me this idea... so here am trying to work it out. Thomas loves cars, and so found images of the "Cars" by Pixar - Lightening McQueen, Sally, Luigi and Rator, and did a black very large freehand multi layered six. I used these names in the poem greeting I did inside too. |
Desk today: Card done, two sea images, one for dad - our Father's day soon + another birthday. |
Thanks so much every one for popping over for a peek as chat, and may God bless your day wherever you may be!

Hi Shaz. Gorgeous cards this week. I love seeing how you build up the ideas you've had and end up with just the perfect card.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Hugs,

Hi Shaz I hit f5 and up you popped! The card for Thomas is fantastic and very BIG. He'll love that with all those lovely shiney cars. I just said WOW when I saw your Calligraphy. I did a 10 week course some years ago and really couldn't get it at all. Great admiration for your skill! Have a great week. Barb#27xx
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz....oh wow what fabulous cards...love the sea scene, and you did a great job with the '6' card, its excellent, Thomas will love it. Have a great week Cheers RobynO#32
ReplyDeleteAll those snippets Shaz, oh you messy girl !!
ReplyDeleteBut what glorious card with that lovely sea scape and so much lovely texture and the added burlap. A great bright and cheery birthday card as well.
Hope you and keeping as well as can be, my holiday seems to have done me good so onwards and upwards.

Hi Shaz!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog last week - I am visiting this week as last week has gone by - I haven't even noticed when! So you have a Dolores rose! I am happy it reminds you of me - someone so far in Australia thinking of me! I love your birhday cards - the sea scene is lovely but so is the Thomas birthday card!
Have a lovely week!
Lots of hugs,
Cardarian
What a fabulous sea card, so beautifully coloured and embellished .
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at Stamping Sensations this month

I used sand from our beach on a page too a while ago, it adds something personal and looks neat don't you think?! The card for Thomas is lovely! Happy woyww and a hug from windy Holland, Marit #33
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards and what a relief to find that lovely die. Have a great week. sandra de @39
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz, loved the close up of last weeks card. Love the idea about lining up the wording with a brush handle. It's funny the things we spot 'in real life' after we've bought something, and how it can put us off the product then! Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #5 xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat cards Shaz! The first one is a real work of art and the 6th Birthday card is pure genius! Hoew clever ti make the race track for those cars! Super idea and so well done.
ReplyDeleteDelighted to read about the results of biopsies honey :) One huge sigh of relief for sure!
Hugs

Shaz, this is stunning! I can see what you mean about the "B", but it looks worse to you than to whoever receives it. Since your own calligraphy is better, my suggestion is to write your own text. You can use the Bic erasable pen and embossing powder to get a better text image. I love how you have incorporated the Caran d'Ache pencils in the coloring.
ReplyDeleteShaz you know I love all you do but I have to say that beach card is - well I cannot find words to describe it - it is fantastic. What a wonderful job you make of these type cards. I just cannot do Stampscape cards at all so I am in total awe of you. Love the addition of the star and the fabric at the bottom. I would not have noticed the B had you not said anything but you being a calligrapher would see it. Hope it does not bother you too much.
ReplyDeleteBy contrast Thomas's card is lovely also - just right for a 6 year old - do glad you found your die. I lost something the other week and am sure it went in the rubbish bin which sadly had gone to the council tip. Guess what? I cannot even remember what it was now.
Love the coincidence that your sister was in Liverpool around the same time as we were - I didn't hear any Oz accents so our paths must not have crossed. Glad she enjoyed her trip. Happy mamories of our day in Manchester.
Hugs, Neet xxx
Good morning sweet Shaz. Your cards are amazing as always. The details that you put in them are so intricate. When Piper saw the birthday card for Thomas she was so excited! She told me all of the cars names and then took my iPad to show her Mommy. I hope your week is a wonderful one.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
That is quite a pile of snippets that you have to throw away there, means you have been a busy girl! I quite understand what you mean about the B on the die cut. Your gifted calligraphy eye would not appreciate it at all. What lovely coloring too. 18
ReplyDeleteI was zooming in on your beach card and thought the sand looked really realistic. Well, no wonder, it's the real deal in there:) how clever!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks beautiful. Even the sentiment, nice trick by the way, using the pencil as aid....
The beach card is stupendously gorgeous! Hope Thomas has a great birthday. xx Helen 2
ReplyDeleteShaz this post is simply the best
ReplyDeletelove all your work
hugs Tamara
Love both your cards Shaz ! My nephew loved that Cars movie when he was smaller & making the 6 into the race track is inspired !! Beach scene is gorgeous ... Ali #10
ReplyDeleteThat beach scene card is a triumph and bears repeating this week...it's good to see all the little details! And I bet Thomas will love his card too, making the 6 into a race track is a great idea!

Shaz, One of my great pleasures in life is siting at my table and putting all the scraps and bits away after a fun time creating. I used to feel guilty for throwing scraps on the floor even tho it is I who cleans them up BUT not now. I really am taken with that seaside card . Thank you so much for taking time to post your very creative art with us this week at Word Art Wednesday, in our 198th challenge.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Hugs, Carole
Oh my! The sea card is fabulous and I love the little cars card too! And glad you found your die! So frustrating when things go missing. Happy WOYWW!

I love snooping around your desk! Your beach card looks AMAZING! That is one gorgeous stamp and you have coloured it beautifully! I think the greeting die cut looks fine - it doesn't bug me at all! Thomas's card is so super cute - that's a brilliant idea with the car cut-outs! He's going to love this!
ReplyDeleteHello Shaz ... thanks for popping by my blog earlier - was lovely having you visit! Yes, I'm afraid I am always "losing" what is right under my nose ... put something down and go to pick it up again and it has moved! I love your beach cards ... just lovely! Happy Crafting & Happy WOYWw'ing!!! Love Debbie #25 xXx
ReplyDeleteThat is just the cutest card for him, love the cars around the six and how you even drew in the lanes that is a great idea, so fun, he will love it!
ReplyDeleteThose cards are so beautiful. I think your dad will love it. The letter B doesn't bother me particularly, but once you 'see' that sort of thing it will keep bugging you!
ReplyDeleteThe Thomas card is gorgeous. I might copy that idea for one of my grandies who is mad about Lightning McQueen.
What a blessing that you found that die again! Praise God!
Sorry for being late again this week. I tend to spread the commenting out a bit over the week. Don't want to be too anti social.
Have a good week,
Lisca#29
Hi Shaz, love your projects. I can see what you mean about that "B" - that sort of thing gets me going a bit too!! With your calligrapher's eye I can imagine you feeling deeply offended lol! I'd suggest you gently separate it from the rest of the die cut and rotate it slightly before sticking it down - I'm sure that would work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and your lovely comment - I'm feeling quite a bit better today and hoping to feel more myself tomorrow. I've got another project on which has to be done this week before I'm too poorly to do anything after 4th Sept. (next chemo). So glad you like the smock - interestingly enough it's cut on the straight grain, not on the cross, but it does drape rather nicely, doesn't it. I'm looking forward to getting started on it but it's got to take a back seat along with everything else until my latest thing is completed! Hopefully I'll be able to blog about it in due course.
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #42
Someone is going to LOVE getting that card!! So cute! Thanks for sharing with us at Word Art Wednesday this week!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful seascape card, too!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the cards Shaz..love the addition of shells and sand, great touch! I didn't of course, see the fault with the B in the die cut, but I'm no calligraphist! I'm pretty sure that it's merely meant to represent someone's hand writing, so I know you'll have to forgive it!
ReplyDeleteFab creation, thanks for joining Stamping Sensations, good luck.
ReplyDeleteHappy crafting

What a gorgeous seascape, Shaz, absolutely beautiful card! Thank you for sharing it with us at Stamping Sensations.
