Belated WOYWW + Rudolph Day + Darkroom Door Surfboards

Hullo there one and all.. YUP! I am officially running a day late for WOYWW (What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday, hosted again by dear Lunch Lady Jan.
Thanks, dear LLJ! )
Those who would like an update of Julia and her Acoustic Neuroma, post surgery please read her recent post here. Please keep praying for her, brain surgery of this sort is slow recovery. Pray also that her recovery will be complete.
Just scraping in for Scrappy Mo's challenge, see below!
Big warning - photo over load here!

To my desk at midday yesterday, before left for the day! there's a card half done there, a selection of dies on left, most of which were rejected. Sample of one chosen at rear left, the one chosen is in silver (extended) under the Dark Room Door Surboards, done with perfect pearls colouring.
This lovely 6 x 6" cardstock came to me by courtesy of Yvonne of Phoebez blog. Admiring her cards, I asked her where she bought her lovely cardstock from? Off cuts she said from a Dutch paper mill. Of course we live no where near a paper mill, so when she offered to post me some if I paid for post cost, I gratefully accepted. Hard to get good foiled card here - so thank you, dear friend! Yvonne also enabled me to buy a new SB on its way here (see here).  Bad me, of course Bizzy Bec's had them at such a good price, too good to miss out on!
I have shared this before but there are always new folks.. I don't have a scallop die to fit these LOTV stamps so I cut one and half silver smaller diecuts then cut it up on back to fit around as a fully scalloped edge. Cool, eh?

Image in centre, Darkroom Door Surfboards - emboss image in clear embossing powder + colour in with Versamark pen + add colour by colour the perfect pearls. Seal them with hairspray at the end. Used die SB polka Dots largest die. This one is going to UK so kept it fairly flat, safe to post then.
This image (A sketchy one by Sheena Douglas) was done the same way as the Darkroom Door surfboards, stamped on scrap of burgundy cardstock then added perfect pearls as above. I fussy cut it out, and glued it with silicone glue on the embossed card. The CB Snowflake EF had been smooched with blue ink then embossed and sprayed with shimmery mist. Snowflake (coloured with blue and silver ink) was one from RosA, + verse "For unto you this day ..."is a digi.
My entry for
Scrappy Mo's Christmas card challenge - aka Rudolph day (you've until today's end).
Now to the photos of Oz - in South Australia this is for you Cheryl Scrivens! Close family, Pete and Robyn are on on 3 months trip to South Australia. Have a four wheel drive + four wheel drive caravan. Doing the hard yakka of dirt roads in the rain - in the desert!
Yes,
they have been bogged and the Army came to the rescue.. they just happened to be passing in the middle of the desert, pretty good, eh?
One of God's coincidences/ providential provisions.

As I write this they are just north of Marla heading to Alice Springs and Uluru (the rock).
I put this one in so you can see what difference the sunlight makes, this in the cloud so no many highlights. It is called the "Painted Desert" because of the amazing colour & lights. It was that sort of mud you drive over at 10 - 50km an hour, slow going. Especially if you had to stop and de-cake the mud off all the tyres, cos they were all clogged up with mud and wouldn't move.
This one reminds me of a Namatjira painting my dad painted and we had in our loungeroom as kids.
Spectacular mesas +++ God's creation is amazing!
Footprints in the salt of Lake Ayre, largest saltwater lake inland South Australia. They walked in as far as they could, till started to sink in sand ..
The hugest Sturt Desert Peas flowers I've ever seen and Rob too - she said each blossom was 10cm long, ie 4". Just growing out in wild of sandy/ mud flats. Popped up with recent rains, see caking of ground as it dries.
To left is their rig, the end of their four wheel drive caravan, shows they've been at the famous Pink Roadhouse at Oodnadatta. They camped out the back where there was a caravan park, and really great hot showers!
A special welcome to a new encourager of this blog a Big welcome to Margaret Jones .. first new one in many months and sadly I cant welcome her properly as no comment. So please comment so I can link to and join your blog.

Please say hi - to let me know you've been by!
May God bless your day wherever you maybe!

Watercolour Painting with Distress Inks + Friday Smiles

Hi there one and all.
Yes, time has passed since posting, been fighting tooth issues again, result = root canal. Had the card below on last week's desk but decided not to share it till it was okay.
It is for dear lady in her eighties called Iris, hence the iris flowers. I bought the Digi from "Beccy's place" over here.
I struggled in colouring this image - because although it came coloured I wanted to colour it. This is my third and final attempt - success - yay! First I tried Tombow watercolour pens, too strong on fine image. Next I tried pencils .. same result fine detail of image lost. So lastly you see me trying Distress ink I've smooched it on white piece of laminated card rather than block, so you can see colours. Used two mauve/ purple, and three green with blue. DI Blue Denim was used on both purple and green for shadows.
I shaped the flowers as love the 3D look, although doesn't really show that clearly - see here to show I do it. I did this with a single layer.. a cheat's way :D
Was really happy with this card, love it - it really does make me smile that it finally worked!
Used ODB Beautiful Borders die, threaded ribbon through which was died with ink. Stamp is also ODB Mini tags. Folder is Couture creations Tied together. Ovals dies are Spellbinders
Elegant largest oval die

and Stitched Oval dies by Cottage Cutz.
Instead of photos today from downunder I thought I would share some pickies of when I visited Iris in April 2012 in Lincolnshire, UK.
H
er home Beck House was built in 1265, the same time as four other buildings - of these only hers and church remained. She lived there from 1965 till 2013, when she moved to a bungalow. So here are some more Friday smiles.

I really enjoyed my time with Iris, even though it was wet like it often is in UK for some of the time.
I reached a milestone today on my blog. I share a snip of it below, over 200,000! quite astounding actually! :D a big smile there.

Well, looks like (at the time that I write this) the Brexit has gone through. Do pray for all concerned as to what this will mean over there as have many dear to my heart in UK.
Thanks so much every one for popping over for a peek and chat!
May God bless your day wherever you may be

Darkroom Door Photo Stamp - Surfboards - Male Birthday

(For WOYWW post click here or just scroll down.. thank you!)

Well, time already for the mid-month DT post for Bizzy Bec's, quite scary how quickly this comes around!
To the method ... step by step of course :D
Stamp the lovely stamp in black Versafine ink and emboss with clear EP
I had bought some lovely cheesecloth from Bec and wanted to use it with this, so sprayed the Dylusions teal spray + also perfect pearls spray. Has lovely sheen on this, just cant see it.
Here is the dyed cheesecloth (also used it as a stamp while it wet and juicy on some other card to right). It was too dark when done so I wrapped it up like a sausage and put a Rubber band down length of it, like we did for tie dyeing in the '70's. Then wet it all over again with water and took some of the colour out randomly with kitchen paper to get the mixed colour. Let it dry naturally.
Added some real sand from our beach, with some texture paste and masking tape.
Assembled card - coloured the sky with DI ink and hand made cloud masks. Added the colour to sea with Versamark and Perfect Pearls, and also the surfboards. Turquoise card on left was coloured from cheesecloth stamps above and added some more colour after embossing piece, I added some more inks to highlight. Only needed a third of cheesecloth which i dyed as it was folded over three times. Happy Birthday (LOTV) stamp was stamped in Versafine on cork and clear embossed. Background paper is some old stash of hand made paper from 1990's, shells and starfish also from stash.

loads of shimmer on this card....
Products used:
*Ranger Perfect Pearls PPP21803 Aged Patina
(available for order, as are Ranger products - see Bec.)
*Cheesecloth (out of stock, but also available through Bec.)
Thanks so VERY much for popping over for peek and chat...

WOYWW + Distress Ink Smooch background

Another WOYWW or What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday,
hosted again by dear Lunch Lady Jan  (Thanks, dear LLJ!)
I am p
raying on for dear Julia, we do miss you Julia. Also please say a special prayer for Jan, she lost her darling dad at the weekend.
My desk yesterday arvo. 'Tis late Wed here as running tad late, out all day busy with family who are not well. However my good news is on my desk from WOYWW7 PiF a few weeks back now. Was going to share the Iris card on right today but changed my mind, its on its way to UK...
To my second desk shot: I saw this online and wanted to try it. You randomly ink up with Distress Ink on a mat (or in my case a white piece of laminated cardstock) and then spritz it with water and stamp on it.
Inking it up background stamp - SU French Script... I let it sit for while.. then lifted it- spritzed some more on card but think should have skipped that. Had loads of ink leftover and couldn't waste that so grabbed another snippet of card and smooched up the left over. It became the central panel of card below
This card was half done on last weeks desk. Cut the smooched inky centre piece with Pinpoint Circles by Memory Box, doubled layer of them. Used a variety of flowers from stash. Border is Nellie Snellen Border die. Stamp with a favourite of mine by Stampendous:
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will shelter in the shadow of the Almighty.."
This is a very good thing to remember in times when every is not all happy and smooth sailing. God knows, and He cares, nothing catches God out.
WOOHOO!! Look-ee, see what arrived in yesterday's post my PiF - from UK, the card, wonderful envelope and superb ATC by ...
.... (EDIT - had wrong person DER!!!! it is from Andrea of Arty Andrea Link here ignore what I printed on it, what a utter duffer, I am!) thank you dear friend, I love it! its actually quite glimmery.

This is the ATC and card, I sent to Shaz Silverwolf, my PiF.
ATC made with snippet of brayered card + iridescent medium added to it, + cling wrapped, then dried. The lovely black trees is part of a die cut given by RosA. (will look up name, as have it somewhere). The card was another brayered piece with Ryn's bubble stamp on it + die cut alphabet too.

To the Aussie shots today- two from the garden...
This is a NZ Christmas bush in flower and the Rainbow Lorikeets (noisy things :D) and other honey eating birds love it !!

Please say hi - to let me know you've been by!
May God bless your day wherever you maybe!

WOYWW Goodies + Stormy East Coast Low

For Shaker card for Bizzy Bec's, please scroll down or  click here.

Mm, running a tad late for WOYWW or What is on your workdesk Wednesday over here, at the moment hosted again by our Lunch Lady Jan (Thanks, dear LLJ!)
Latest news from Jan's post,  for non WOYWW-ers, who asked to be updated for prayer for Julia:
"Julia came out of hospital last Saturday - her post op brain scan was clear so it's a case of slowly recovering. I saw her yesterday.. was surprised to find her downstairs rather than in bed. Julia's face has dropped on her right side because of palsy caused by the op. Has exercises to help the nerves and muscles work again. Her stay in hospital was good, excellent treatment + care. A case of slowly slowly now, may take up to a year for nerves to grow back. We had a good laugh - she says hello to you all." (EDIT: I tried to enlarge this but not able to, sorry)
To my desk this morning - front and centre Happy Mail arrived today! from Shaz Silverwolf and Nikki C - THANK YOU, both of you!!! I know there is one more on its way, too. I'm working on an inky card, hence two stamps there at the back, and it is still not done!
More happy Mail ...isn't this one amazing card sent to me a a thank you from the amazing Darnell of NBUS fame and I think Hammy must have had a hand in this one .. but not sure he went up in those balloons though.. isn't the detail amazing!?? thank YOU, dear friends, all of you!

All up and down the east coast of Australia, from Gold Coast, Queensland to Tasmania there has been tremendous storm damage from a huge east east coast low. it wasn't just one system but two that joined up and also it coincided rather unhappily with the June King tides..
SURFS UP... wave anyone?
Foaming breakers on rock wall, you could not go down the rock wall as normal, as it was breaking over it well and truly as later images show.
The waves breaking over distant rock wall into the marina, this is at almost low tide. Five hours later at 8:30pm, when another king tide hit, the high thundering waves destroyed some marina walkways, office building and sunk two yachts.
People had to be rescued from their yachts/ boats 'cos they couldn't get along marina walkways. They've had to leave boats now as the walkways in some places are destroyed.

Impact of waves pounding this office also collapsed the marina Office building, it fell in on itself.
Creek and beach area near home, storm surge came up onto grassed area and beyond to trees..
A lot of the beach was washed away, and has been deposited in creek mouth clogging it up more.

Peaceful now, after the storm...
Thanks so much every one for popping over for a peek and chat!

May God bless your day wherever you may be.
