Scrappy Mo's Christmas (Rudolph Day) Challenge - Paper Piecing

Well, the weeks are flying by let alone the months! Here it is time for another challenge over at Scrappy Mo's, HERE!
I have been honoured to be a Guest DT member for this month! so this time I did a CASE of Card by Di of Snippets Playground. It was some paper piecing with a Woodware stamp, which I won in the playground, years back now .. see Miss' card over here!
At the time, Miss also kindly sent me a sheet each of the gorgeous LOTV paper that she had used on her card.. how generous is that? So thought I'd better do some of these this year.
Paper Piecing is tedious .. you need to be in the mood. I was thankfully! so stamped with Black Onyx Versafine and embossed two lots of four card backs, then four lots of blue paper and four lots of kraft shade paper. As only had one sheet of each, scanned some for the backing sheets and printed them out. Like the kraft best, as they are 5 x 7' cards, the blue are A2 and a tad small for the stamp I think. The embossed images look heaps better in real life .. not as good in photo. Used some pearls on snowflakes.

That's it for today!
Thanks so much for popping over for peek and chat.. you are really appreciated!

May God richly bless your day wherever you may be!

Mo's Kite Image Paper Pieced + WOYWW

Hi one and all, time is running away from me so lobbing in with a very quick post for WOYWW and to share a card made ages ago now earlier in year but never blogged. As it is WOYWW or What is on your Workdesk Wednesday (pop over to Julia's and join in do!), am sharing my desk.. or as was last night, as packed up now!
Still in Christmas card making mode as you can see these are some images die cut and stamped sent to me by a dear friend in USA. I really love the nativity on these. Used mainly promarkers on them and Wood ware fluffy stuff for the woolly sheep.
In April this year it was Hudson's 3rd birthday... you will never guess that the only colour he really likes is green, would you?? (In July just week before I was sick I shared the "Hudson sleeps here" Calligraphy I did for him)
Anyway the card was with a Mo image have loved this one for ages, and suiting Hudson down to the ground. Am 3D-ing the image, hence the number of images printed off and bits coloured with the Prisma coloured pencils.

Kaisercraft banner Die, Number 3 is from CB alphabet die Olivia, used some SB labels for the main image. I know I had the sketch from somewhere, but not sure where, now. Possibly one of Debbie's excellent ones from the Scrapjourney.
Well, we've cracked the half kilo with our lemons - last year it was 497g but this year we went one better and it is 525g. If you want to see how small our lemon tree is look on this post here. It is an Eureka lemon for those who live in Oz.
On a daily walk this week as it was too windy for the beach, walked in our botanic gardens ... I love these native plant called Flannel Flowers so beautiful, I would love to grow them.

Also walked around the orchid house at the gardens, isn't this spider orchid simply amazing? Its a native too.
Some more photos from our icecream drive.. the sea was very very flat but oh weren't these a clouds magnificent testament to the beauty of God's creation?? I love clouds.

Please dont forget to hope over to Julia's super blog to join in the worldwide exploration of WOYWW(what is on your workdesk Wednesday)..and will join the snippets playground this week as used lots of snippets in this card for Hudson!
Thanks for stopping everyone for a peek and chat and may God bless your day wherever you may be.

Bizzy Becs DT - Elizabeth Crafts Thinking of You

Well 'tis the 15th of the month so time for another DT post for Bizzy Becs!
Trying the use of positive and negative of a word die again. I have two of these beautiful dies by Quietfire design for Elizabeth Crafts - one is a Happy birthday and the other is Thinking of you! I love these dies, because they are calligraphic and they cut so beautifully!

First card is using the negative space
1.Adhered the black background onto a sheet of double sided tape, added the floating black pieces in middle of letters I had saved when I cut the die.
2. Added the Cosmic Shimmer gilding flakes, Egyptian gold, pressing it well into sticky backed paper.
3. Then die cut a gold Spellbinder Gold Labels Four die (not on site but available from Bec, her Spellbinders are amazing prices!).
4. Embossed the black label with the same die to get the outline to hand cut around the inside shape of the die and popped it up on the gold. Matted it on handmade black and gold Chinese paper.
Next card was made with background on some glossy card.. used Brushos.. they're amazing on gloss card. Simply sprinkle desired shades onto card stock then spray  with water bottle, I heat dried these and they dry way quicker that any other cardstock I've used, plus very vibrant. My favourite by far! Used the one at back left, which is Rose Red, Burnt Sienna, Terracotta, and a little Lime green for that blue green fleck.
Added the positive black die cut to the sheet, then die cut the Brusho gloss card with Spellbinder Pierced rectangles.
By adding it it before die cutting it became embedded in the gloss card and really looked great!
Also meant it wasn't easily going to come unstuck on glossy card, double bonus! Mounted it on black, then
added ribbon and hessian or burlap strip underneath.
I really appreciate all who call by to say hi! and also would love it if any of you have time to pop over and comment on my DT post over here at Bizzy Bec's blog!
May God richly bless your day wherever you may be!

WOYWW + More Faux Vellum Technique

Hi one and all, time is running away from me so lobbing in with a very quick post for WOYWW and to share a new card in the Faux Vellum technique but as this is WOYWW or What is on your Workdesk Wednesday (pop over to Julia's and join in do!). So here is my desk.. or as was last night, as packed up now!

Have two images stamped in Black Onyx Versafine and embossed and you can see there are more Christmas cards being made! I have used my Caran D'Ache Aquarelle pencils, and as the are water colurs they make for lazy colouring, you colour then blend with a brush. I had the DI Antique Linen ink out, smooshed it on my laminated white sheet to colour the skin tones on the images with a watercolour brush. Grey promarker was there for highlights around the images. Other colouring pens are at back but didn't use them on these images.
I made a set of three of these cards, this is using the Faux Vellum technique which I showed step by step on the post below (or here). Used some Victorine stamps (the three silhouette wise men and the sentiment stamp - Wise Men seek Him Still). The the pebbles and the reed grass stamps are two Stampscapes stamps, multiple stamped. I rubbed some Cocoa Memento ink with my finger around the bottom to define it before removing the mask.
Out on our Sunday icecream drive, we saw this beautiful scenery down at our local jetty. I clicked a few to share with you.
It is springtime here and our flowers are just magnificent .. the roses and the sweetpeas are abundant this spring. Not much rain but beautiful sunshine, we are very blessed of God indeed to live where we live!
Thats it for today am busy making up some DT cards as want to get the posts for next three months done ahead of the busy Christmas time. Some of the DT cards are also Christmas ones so that is a double bonus!

Thanks so much for popping over for peek and chat.. you are really appreciated!

May God richly bless your day wherever you may be!

Nellie Snellen Eastern Ovals - Bizzy Becs DT Card

Warning! Am in Christmas card making mode at the moment, as I am so woefully behind,
I am endeavoring to do some catch up!

To join in with us over at Bizzy Bec's ANY-thing Goes October Challenge - please pop over here!! a prize drawn each month!
I saw a very interesting technique called  faux vellum technique from Inkylicious on a blog by Sue of Zouave cards. Sue used the "right" items for her card, as she bought the kit from UK.
I decided to use what I had! So mine looks nothing like it really.
Will try it again though, with other stamps! it was fun. Now for the... How to!
I cut a die cut a stencil with Nellie Snellen Straight Eastern Oval dies
Think we under-use dies as stencils, they really are a cheap way to get a stencil! Then used white chalk pad and DI ink daubers to shade around the inside of the
Kraft Card, next time thought would try the White Linen Dylusions Spray as have some of that. I think it would be quicker.
Two things to note when using sprays:
1. Keep your finger tip/ nail away from the end of the nozzle, easily done and ends up with blobs.
2. Spray from height, ie not close, as it gives a more even sweeping spray. I do it outside, but for water based ones I know one crafter uses her shower recess!
Outline before removing the mask/ stencil the outside of the bauble. Note the stencil (left) is cut out of a cereal box scrap. :D
Sprayed the masked image before removing stencil with perfect pearls for shimmer. Also used:
**Our Daily Bread stamps Christmas Flourished Verses

** Memory Box Star of Wonder Die cut from white fun foam scrap
**Bought from Bec, available from Bec, but not on site.

The stamp I used was tree from SU "Lovely as a tree", stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa. Also added some "Fluffy stuff" by Woodware.
Thanks so much for popping over for peek and chat.. you are really appreciated!

May God richly bless your day wherever you may be!
