Pop Up Window Cards + Oxides Masking + WOYWW

Well, flat out like a lizard drinking here, as my dad would've said! 😊 It's Wednesday though, so time for WHAT is On Your Workdesk Wednesday, linking over to our dear Julia's Stamping Ground!
Desk boring and in need of more complete tidy. Ground to halt on sorting/ creating! Went to Syd drs last week (all ok!) and stayed with friends at south coast. So sharing some cards made back in August. They're the style seen here - Jennifer McGuire pop up card.
Made two masked backgrounds for these cards, this heart one is lovely and by STAMPlorations. Second Small Mesh mask is by Darkroom Door. Special birthday cards.. loved the Oxides ease of blending! Used Digis on both a Bugaboo Dino birthday for first card. The card opened up below. Master Three - Eamon loves "Parple" hence the purple Dino.
Made one for Emily too, more feminine - as her favourite colours are pink and mauve. The window is a double (ie two dies) embossing of Double Stitched Poppy Crafts die set. Was bit tricky but very effective. TIP: Key is to use thinner shim than normal embossing and die cut window first. Digi for this card and Pinterest idea for layout.
These are really fun cards. I recommend making a prototype with scrap card like I did. It's in my template drawer for future reference. Saves headaches of wasted good card.
Now to Aussie shots. First two are down at South Coast of NSW; north (sea view from train) and south (escarpment view from car) of Wollongong.
Last two are at Gibralter Range National Park. It's just inland from north coast and ok with rain, but Sundown NP in SE Qld is sadly in severe drought with 40c or 100F+, meant family shortened stay there. Poor birds and plants and pray especially for our struggling farmers.
We're ok on coast, but very dry and brown inland.
Photos of Gibralter NP by BiL.
Rare endangered Gibralter Waratah, not to be confused with common NSW waratah.
Satin male Bowerbird waiting for his smaller, brown coloured mate to finish drinking at the bird bath.
Well, that's it for this week, lots of pickies for those who ask for them!
May God richly bless you and all those you love. Thanks for being such a wonderful blessing in my life,
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

A verse to encourage our hearts. Our Father God is all wise and all loving, He knows us better than we know ourselves, and He sees what we cannot.
He meets our very need - indeed, when we seek Him, His way. Sending prayer hugs. 🙏🤗

  1. Such fun cards! All of your Aussie shots are just beautiful too. We are going to have cold, cold weather with temperatures about 20°F this week. I would much rather be in spring time like you are! I’m glad all was OK at your doctors visit. I am praying for you my dear friend. Blessings, Betsy

  4. Gosh, they must have had a dry winter as well to be suffering such drought so soon, what a worry. The waratah looks like a survivor I must say, let’s hope so! I love the window cards, how clever and patient you are to do the fiddly bits, I wonder if you’ve ever actually timed how long such a card really takes. Not that there’s much point, it would kind of remove the pleasure element, huh. I absolutely love your dear Dad’s phrase, such a great way to picture flat out!

  6. Happy WOYWW. Gorgeous cards. Love the colours and digi images. Us farmers never seem to get the right weather for long. We are getting a lot of rain at the moment, and our farmyard is flooded this morning. I hate having to spend a lot of time indoors. Ali x #8

  9. Hi Shaz, love the cards, great designs and colours. It's a bit shocking how badly some companies handle disabled access in this day and age, isn't it? Still seems like an afterthought to most, with little or no training given.Good to hear the docs went well, very happy to hear that. Loving your Aussie photos as usual. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #5 XxX

  18. Hi Shaz, the dino card is beautiful, both of them are! I'll save the idea for one if my grandsons birthday next year, as he lives dinosaurs. I too make prototype cards, i think it's so helpful for future reference as my memory is getting worse. Thanks for stopping by earlier, and for the Apple butter recipe link. I'll let you know how it turns out when I make my next batch. Yes, we have an Emily, it's a beautiful name. Have a lovely week Heather x #7

  20. Hi Shaz, two fab cards for the kiddos, love them peeking through the window. Gorgeous pics of the country side, those birds are pains in the neck, they hold aerial raids on our vegie patch, not uncommon for us to have upto 20 female/juvenile birds descend on our tomato bushes and strip the leaves... watching the boys change from their juvenile feathers to their blue plumage is quite a sight... have a good one... Megan

P.S. glad to hear all went well with your trip to see the dr down in the city

  22. Hi Shaz,
What gorgeous cards, especially the unicorn one, would be perfect for a great niece who is absolutely crazy about them.
Sorry to hear about the drought, it does so much damage, changes a landscape forever.
Thanks for visiting my desk, and nice comments, actually the easel card was scarlet,(paper covered in poppies) but the light was obviously not good when I took pic.
    Bless you
    Chris
