Thank YOU Miss Di ๐Ÿ’— of the Snippet’s Playground

This post is an extra “speshul” one! It is a world ๐ŸŒ wide THANK YOU blog hop with Darnell - in honour of Miss Di of the Snippets Playground.
She has been running the playground for seven 7 wonderful years. I first joined on 13th March 2012, see this post here (for Challenge no 11, early in Di's first year) where I wrote:
This card also really qualifies for Di's snippets challenge this week, so pop along to the playground for it... that is if you dare - yep, they dip your pigtails in the inkwells over there in the playground”.
Miss Di, I want to say a ginormous warm thank you from Downunder for all your work in running this challenge for so many years.
It’s one of my highlights to join in with the playground, using up snippets...  even though they grow faster than they reduce!

I've been grateful for the fun and shenanigans of the playground to brighten my blogging, for almost the 7 years now! And now Miss has an extra helper as well as Parsnip - ‘tis the ultra cutest ever Dudley, who is rather a cheeky distraction in our playground these days! My card.. of the snippety variety again! Recipe below.
Today I decided to revisit an old technique - the salt with water-colour technique, with Brushos! Not sure if anyone else has tried it, but it seemed a good idea. I’m also not sure if it’s my watercolour technique or the salt, but it didn’t react that much! (maybe too it dried quickly in our hot weather?) It has great colour so it didn’t matter that the salt failed to match my expectations. *Used sea salt and regular salt.

*Stamped over one end with Hero Arts background stamp in versamark and added WOW bright white EP.
*Used thank you die cut x-large “thank you” by Honey Bee, bought with Simon says voucher before Christmas and having its first outing today. I die cut three pieces from snippets, two of white, a bottom and top piece, and from base Brusho sheet also cut a top piece.
All have DST to adhere easily.
Added a bit of lace to finish it off. Cut Brusho base in SB stitched rectangle Die, largest one, extended.
So everyone who has snippets (and who doesn’t?) pop over and say thank you to Miss Di and to Darnell’s blog hop and join in the hop too.
Made another card too more in Miss Di's colours.
Added Pippi butterfly, used same thank you die and Wonky stitched rectangles on Kaisercraft 5" x 7" folder.
Also a pickie of our creek in lovely summer colours.. off for swim tomorrow! Hope this warms you up!

Thanks for all the lovely ๐Ÿ’• ๐Ÿ˜Š  comments, you really cheer my heart so. And may God bless your day wherever you may be.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

My new blog over HERE at Wonderful Words of Life. I’d love it if you’d pop over, join and say hi there too. ๐Ÿ’•

A thought to bless your heart from the word of God:

  1. Hi Shaz, a fantastic pair of cards, love the soft colours on the second card, you are probably right about the heat drying out before the salt has time to work. A dip sounds wonderful in all this heat... have a wonderful week... Megan

  3. Fabulous cards to celebrate the Surprise Hop for Di!! :D Surely she will love them both! I have tried the salt technique with silk and liquid fabric colours, a lot of years ago, but never tried with paper, I will have a go! ;D
    Hugs!

  4. What beautiful backgrounds you have made on both cards Sharon! I can see where you used the salt, it just might be because it is so hot in your world and the colors dry to fast. I haven't tried this technique so don't really know much about it. One I want to try, I also have read use "chunky" salt too for larger "spots". Again, don't know. But I sure do love how both of your cards turned out! So beautiful and Di will love them too! Hugs, Brenda

  11. Gorgeous cards, loving the technique but not used it for ages. It has to be that the card dried too quickly. I used to use this on fabric too and it look gorgeous, think the fabric tends to hold the water longer too. Have a great week, Angela xXx

  13. Hi Shaz! I'm going to start with your creek photo. I am really surprised and pleased to see it practically overflowing its banks when you consider the hot temps you've been having! Here the hot days soon evaporate the water as everything dries up and turns brown.

Thank you for hopping right into this thank you parade for Di with your two beautiful card designs! I've never met a Brusho background I didn't love, with or without salt! I love both color versions and I can definitely see the salt reaction you got. I'm loving that "thanks" die, too, and how you layered it! Enjoy your day and I hope it cools off soon! Hugs, Darnell

  37. Beautiful card and background. I love my brushos, when i used them with salt i found that they reacted better then wetter it was, although that then meant it took all night to dry but i loved the outcome. Love the colours you've used. EmmaT
