Ah, here is my desk this morning... a card finished and one on the make.. For 2014 the motto a little adapted from Darnell is to use NBUS - ie use "Never Before Used Schtuff"! or my adaption "Not Much Used Before Schtuff". Top drawer is opened cos sometime back, Maggie C. asked show inside set of drawers. (and happened to be open anyway)
Top drawer: left to right - small white gel pens, glue pens, etc., fine point pens eraser brushes of varying sizes, scissors, bone embossing tools.
Below it is Wave card (already posted this afternoon to nephew) made with Artneko stamp given, but never used before (will blog it later). On right is Manhattan Rose folder in PanPastels and vellum, a NBUS too. Other needful tools scissors, (red ribbon on scissors to see them easily) ATG and 7" guillotine.
Now at bottom front - right are some dominoes I think?? triangle ones given by a crafter but have no idea why or what you do with them??
Here using the three colours to get shade I want with PanPastels, red, mauve, and white.. learnt they mix well and can make endless shades so get the basics and you are right...
Carded up Manhattan Rose EF with vellum; on back have coloured with ink dauber the shades wanted. Cut out and glue down. Card is Strathmore and two piece top has the vellum and the MS Layered Arches Punch, masked off and coloured it, as well as deckle edge of card. Already posted off to Japan. Verse is a Word Art Wednesday free digi, die is Spellbinders Petite Ovals.
Here is the Australian shot of the day.. a bottle brush in soft salmon pink (Callistemon Pink Champagne) sooo pretty. Have shown our white one before - and fixed link now: White bottlebrush (and other fauna)

I peeked at last week too and yes I brought the same cutter at Aldi isn't it wonderful. I love that embossing folder Manhattan flower it is my most used so versatile but have not used them with pan pastels before it is very soft the colouring so pretty..

Your vellum card is feminine and absolutely gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing the coral bottle brush, too! (The link to the white just brought me back to this post.) Around here I've only ever see them in red, so this was a treat!!

Gosh there is a lot to see - I love browsing back. And I love the mica scrunch card. And now I need to go find an Aldi...but much as I love it I can honestly say I am in no way tempted to take up parchment craft! I'm way to ham-handed for such delicate work LOL!

I love both cards...the wave one is lovely because I adore all sorts of Japanese part, especially Hiroshige. And the roses are all soft and dreamy, a really clever technique!

Hi there and I love the rose card. I have that folder and have also just purchased my first ever pan pastels. Not those colours but I wanted to try them in my journal and wanted something bright!!!

Wow love your vellum card, love working with vellum, its so versatile. I have not played desks for awhile but I have a good excuse, we are moving to Brisbane and will be stopping over in Sawtell to break the journey. Are you near Sawtell? Just wondering if its close enough for us to catch up for a cuppa. Let me know, its around 27-28Feb.

Oh my your card is amazing I love it, but anything with roses on I love. Another thing that I love is the bottlebrush but they cause me to have the most horrendous asthma attack, I used to have 9 different colours in my yard and had to have them all taken away boo hoo. so I can enjoy them on the web. Thanks for sharing and have a great crafting week.

ReplyDeleteThe 'dominoes' on your desk are 'tri-ominoes' - I used to have a set. A trickier game than dominoes but I used to love playing it! Maybe you could alter them and make into pendants?

Perhaps I missed this in your how-to, but did you color both the card front & back of the vellum with the pans? It's a beautiful effect! I need to work more with vellum, as it's just so darned beautiful. Loved your bottle brush pic too. We had a magenta/red color one at our house in Fla. Yours is a lovely color...TFS & Hugs (and doncha just love all these new vocabulary words Darnell is teaching us???) :-)

Beautiful work with the pan pastels, Shaz. I'm ashamed to say I've had mine for months and have never even opened them yet! I've got so much unused stuff in my ARTHaven. Still, it has been quite a year and my creativity has had to take very much a back seat, but I'm hoping to rectify that soon!

Well, firstly I can't believe I've not come across your blog before now. I am so impressed by your calligraphy! I have become a lazy Calligrapher and it's just not good enough! These days I tend to only use it to write on the inside of cards although, I have set myself the task of using it more and for decorative purposes as it should be! I love you illuminated pieces - I gave that a go once a long time ago and should really do it again because it's very rewarding :)

Wow, Shaz, I learned SO much from this post. I had no idea you could mix those pan pastels. I just smear them. Not good with them at all. Love what you made, though. Also like the mica and tissue piece from below. Yep, I peeked. Another way to use up all those old mica powders.
