Yes! hard to believe but here we are again.. checking out desks of the world over at Julia's blog - because, believe it or not, another Wednesday is here! So it is time to link up for What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday!
So here is my desk! As usual a number of things on the go! firstly getting ready to make a card on the left from wonderful Nicecrane images top set was very kindly sent to me for free by Ignacio after I made a comment on Ginny's post on how much I loved the images (- see here her cards with these Birds and Blossoms are just wonderful).
I also decided to buy this Vintage Butterfly and Blossoms set so .. all being well! and am making a card on the right.
You see, over at Oriental Stamp art there is a challenge to make a card using circles folded into squares as a card.. it was an idea from my birthday card by Joyce, see her card on left - she used circles folded into squares to make her cheery striking card.
As I sent the idea in for the card I really thought I needed to make the effort - hence my punching and playing!! and here below is my humble effort. I used double sided paper for two reasons.. meant did not need to paste and as Joyce rightly said it was a problem on her card (mind you love here papers very much) and secondly my punch would punch this but not the washi paper.
I used some Artneko stamps (unmounted, and on sale - see links) on mine and handmade buttons, stamped with another AAA stamp. Happy birthday is also Artneko. This card is good way to use up snippets!
Here is the Aussie shot of the day - a rainbow lorikeet spied through my kitchen window, nectar loving, they are enjoying the coral Bottlebrush blooms at the moment.
Must move along and try my hand at making the second card in between visiting folk with WOYWW - a learning zone! May God bless your day wherever you may be, and thanks fr popping over for a peek and chat!
Shaz in Oz.xWould like to join this card over with the following:

Shaz, we have some visiting rainbow laurikeets in our front garden eating our Manchurian Pears.they are only tiny things- not real pears, just miniature versions, but the birds are loving them.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards.

Wow, that looks so clever, love the effect. Hope you have a good week. Helen 11
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sharon from a sunny Lancashire. No exotic parrots in my garden, just little brown birds with beautiful songs to sing. The card you made is very pretty, lovely shades of soft green.

Morning Shaz,
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely green oriental card. Those circles are very effective and the stamped images are beautiful. So is the bird in your garden, God's wonderful creation.
Bless you for showing us.
Chris #36
Your card is fabulous! As is the gorgeous bird, how wonderful to be able to see something so beautiful through your window! xx
ReplyDeleteLove the oriental vibe yo uhave going on this week, beautifully elegant card and another amazing photo - I realy don't think you'd be very impressed with the little brown birds I tend to get outside my window (although I still love to watch them!) :o) Annie C #74
ReplyDeleteHi My Friend - love that idea of the circles that you showed us last week and must say you have made a stunning card with the same technique.
ReplyDeleteThose images you bought are beautiful - look forward to seeing your makes.
Take care
Love, Neet (ps the cats on the right always remind e of our day in Manchester for some reason.
busy desk and I love the idea od the circle squares. What fun to have such a pretty bird in the garden - we do get parakeets but they are just green. Not indigenous but they have settled here now in London and really part of the landscape. Have a great WOYWW, Cindy #59
ReplyDeleteLove your circle squares how effective they look so pretty

I love your finished circle/square card, the colours are really pretty. Lovely images from Nicecrance, they do have really nice designs that I've seen. Icy and frosty here this morning so it's a treat to see your blossom and the feeding birds!

My bottlebrush plant seeds have arrived this week, so I hope to get some growing outside as I did for many years. We don't have birds like yours though, but I hope the flowers will encourage bees and butterflies to come for the nectar. That technique with the circle/squares is a new on to me but really looks great. Thank you for your visit, and you will be interested to know that the rest of my stash arrive this morning - the things they didn't have at the show, mainly things to finish off partial sets. Having spent this morning working hard with my daughter and granddaughter to sort out a load of paperwork and other rubbish, tomorrow is going to be my day to play. Hope you have a good week. xx Maggie #8
ReplyDeleteOoh, those cards are pretty! Love the effect you've used, it reminds me of cathedral window patchwork :-)
ReplyDeleteThe lorikeets is having a good old time there in the bottlebrush !!
Hugs, LLJ 27 xx
Hi Shaz!
ReplyDeleteI follow an other blog that is also working with the circle squares. Your card turned out beautifully, well done!
Thanks for the earlier visit.

I like your version of the folded circles card much better than the yellow & purple one. The softer color combination is so pretty and your composition is nicer. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog earlier and for the nice comments.
Happy Woyww,

Hi Shaz,
ReplyDeleteI can see why you fell in love with the bird images - very vintage looking. Also, the card you made using circles folded up into squares is great. Joyce did a wonderful job on your birthday card, by the way.
I'm not participating in WOYWW this week; thought I'd pop into a few desks anyway.
Hugs,
Kay
That is a beautiful card Shaz. The greens are so soft and subtle. I admire you ladies who make cards. Your imagination is boundless, whereas I follow patterns that others write. The bird is gorgeous. Thank you for the picture.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy

Well lovely girl, this lovely fiddly folding is a good sign of good hand health I hope? Love the patchwork effect this fold gives,,,reminds me of a quilt design called wedding rings..I think! We have woodpeckers which are a relatively rare sight for our Wiltshire garden, but Lorikeets.....love em, like a burst of joy in flight.
ReplyDeleteYour Circle card looks fantastic :) thanks for the visit hugs Nikki 5
ReplyDeleteLove the circle into squares. It makes for such a cool card element. And what you can see in your backyard - I have to go to the zoo to see. You are one lucky lady. thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. April #15

Kimmer #91... last , but not least AGAIN.. LOL
Those circles turned squares look very pretty and seems a great way to give a card some depth.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a lovely bird outside your window! We practically only have 1 kind of bird that flies around near our house so I get excited when I see any bird that's not that kind!
Happy WOYWW!

Hi Shaz
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. Was great to see the Lorikeet, we lived in Oz for 2 years in NT and we had a bottlebrush outside our kitchen window...great memories. Happy WOYWW.

Shaz, I really love your "circles into squares" - I pinned this on Pinterest! I am glad we found each other on there, too. It's a great place, but highly addictive and you can find yourself wasting a whole evening on there just looking! I use it a lot for inspiration and just for the "feel good" factor of seeing the beautiful work people create. I love your lorikeet photo too. We have nothing like that here in the UK.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and your nice comment. I am really enjoying doing these tiny Zentangles on the stains left by drying teabags - I need a magnifier to do them. I love the subtle browns, well matched by my sepia pen.
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #48
Love the colours you used on your card.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

Hello Shaz. What lovely cards today. Great fun, and a little different. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI've only ever seen a rainbow lorikeet in a pet shop - and always thought they look beautiful - but to have one in your own garden - how fantastic. God has a great sense of humour in His creation, doesn't He?!
Have a great week.
Margaret #85
Stunning! I LOVE your card! Superb!x
ReplyDeleteShaz- love to stop by and see what you are up to! The card you have created is wonderful- love the soft colors and the way you added the images in each row- great flow to the card! The digi images look fab- cannot wait to see what you create!
ReplyDeleteoooo...I really like your cards Shaz...might have to have a go at that too, so simple but so effective, very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...
Vikki #93
thats a very different card,,love it.it looks quite simple to do the folding but i bet its not
ReplyDeletejanet# 29 ish
Oh, Sharon what a lovely colour combination you did on your card and the placement of the squares is perfect, unlike mine!!! Well done...sorry about the finger injury...you must take better care of yourself, girl.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo of your exotic bird too.....there is a sort of dearth of birdies at the moment...they must be sitting on eggs....only appear to be fed and then off again....plenty of nuts and fat balls still around as birdies are keeping their eggs warm in our bitterly cold winds these last few days.
Shaz I just had to smile to see your beautiful work desk!! I loved you digi images! That was so nice for Ignacio to send you the images, aren't they awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteenjoyed reading your post a blessing as always!
Hugs
Ginny
