Inkadinkado 'Standing Seagull' card + Word Art Wed. verses.

Hullo there everyone.
Some time ago late last year, I was in need of male special birthday card and  so out came the Hero arts Seagull stamp, black ink, watercolour paper, PanPastels and mixed pens to colour.
The card was for a brother in the LORD who has had many struggles with his health so thought it appropriate to put on this card a verse of encouragement - one of many favourite ones from Lamentations 3: 22-23.
I think sometimes we are so blinded by the situation or trial that we may be going through we fail to see the many mercies of the LORD in our lives.
I know it is so for me, and ill health seems to be a constant thorn in the side. But God is in it, with us and through to the other side (see here - a helpful post).
The second of the two cards was one for my "super-wonderful" dad, who turned 85 a few days back! Same image as above - it was sitting there (snippetty-like) begging to be used up so out comes same card in different format.
The layout was an idea formed after looking at man's card over at Jobear's blog - here. Have used my Xcut scalloped rectangles to make a fine scallop edge on star paper. You have to shift them twice to extend the die, and only cut one side at a time, but worth it, I think.
I just remembered the stamp was really bought because of Jobear, too .. see her original post over here with card also with port-hole effect (really like how she 3D-ed the rope on it.. had forgotten all about this card. Was from 2010, so guess there is a reason :D)
Cuttlebug "Oliva" numbers were used on both cards. Spellbinder for greetings, labels 4, and Petite scallop ovals.
Well, thanks so much every one for popping over for peek and chat and may God bless your day wherever you may be. Shaz in Oz.x

  2. An excellent card for a man, Shaz. In answer to your questions, sadly I did not meet any WOYWWers despite wearing my badge as prominently as possible. The stamps and stencils were just so tempting, and I gave in to quite a lot of temptation here. This site gives quite a lot of info on the scabious. They are good food plants for bees and butterflies. I remember having loads in our garden when I was young, and it grows wild on the cliffs, especially down in Cornwall. I would send you some seeds, but I believe that might be a no no for Australian customs regs. Is that right? I will have a look at that book website. thank you for that. Have a good week. xx Maggie

  5. Those are both very nice cards for men. I especially love the Psalm verse. It was my Mom's favorite Bible verse. I continue to pray for your health and that God will grant you the grace to withstand your illness.
    Blessings my friend,

  7. Two fabulous cards Shaz - you're back with a bang I see. So clever to add the brads or whatever around the portholes too - it's the little touches that turn fabulous cards into totally amazing!

  15. So love this stamp and totally love how you used the porthole treatment with the stamp. Perfect! Great designs on both cards, and very inspired message as your sentiment. It's good to remind ourselves that we all have trials...but we're uplifted if we allow it. And remember to ask for it. TFS 2 beautiful cards and a wonderful inspirational message. Hugs
