Autism Awareness Blog Hop + WOYWW

Technically I'm NOT supposed to be on here... technically, I'm supposed to be cleaning /tidying up! however, saw this challenge via Jennifer McGuire on Veronica's Autism Blog Hop
We've two Autistic lads aged 5 and 2 in our family, I'm doing this post for them, to honour all who struggle with them in it, its also very hard for siblings and parents. I’m especially thinking of Veronica + her son Cameron, and pray for them and all so affected.
As it’s Wednesday, it is also time for WOYWW, or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday, so do pop over to Julia’s Stamping Ground! To my desk...
(** edit below) I think the challenge is supposed to be rainbow shade, HOWEVER our lads have colour fixations, which I think it’s related to Autism. Mister Five loves GREEN and Mister Two: quote loves "PARPLE" 😁  so purple is the go! So tried to emphasise those two in this rainbow! as you can see I'm using Oxides. I really dont have clear green, and it didn't really show up as lack, until done, so will have to do.(** just found out via one of blogs on hop that blue is for Autism Awareness, so there is blue in it, seems folks were using whatever they wanted and lots used the rainbow! or brain freeze perhaps)
As only have on Distress Oxide in Violet I added some DI in Dusty Concord for depth. In hindsight should've tried that for green. still it is a clear rainbow, they blend easily.

Used Memory Box Nottingham Border die, and Elizabeth Crafts Happy Birthday by Quietfire design. Love both and both underused!
Aussie shots - the colourful Galahs love gardeners who dont mow their lawn, seed eating time for this evening's snack!
Tonight's (ie Wednesday in Oz) sunsets are courtesy of moi on creek walk and Greg, a family photographer, a bit further north shared it in response to mine.
Thanks so much for popping over for a peek, especially if you stay for a chat!
May God bless your day wherever you maybe!

First time ever done rainbow colour ... and with Distress oxides, which are still new to me. Funny never chose to do rainbows not quite sure why!

  1. Fabulous rainbow card Shaz and a worthy cause to share with, I think autism touches everyone in some way :) Love your beach shots and it was interesting to see the same clouds in your friends photo from a different angle! Have a great week, Cathy x

  2. That's an amazing card Shaz. I particularly like the fact that you die cut the Oxide panel rather than using it as a background. Great cause too. I teach and have taught a few autistic children in main stream schools and they were/are a delight to relate to, although melt downs did/do occasionally occur. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #16

  3. HI Shaz, what a fabulous rainbow that is, and I love the card you made. I have the Happy Birthday die too, and like yours is very underused, which is silly, isn't it? It makes such a lovely card. I love how Distress inks and Oxides work so well together too. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #6 XxXx

  4. Your card is absolutely beautiful! I'm sure your boys were happy with their favorite colors making way onto your card. Oz is beautiful, judging by the landscape. Thank you so much for participating in this worthy cause!

  5. Your rainbow card is fantastic! Love it!

Kids with Autism bring tremendous joy to their families, and I think it is possible that a portion of the struggle families dealing with disability have is the lack of acceptance from the world. This blog hop is a fantastic idea.

  6. Hi Shaz. That's a great card - the rainbow colours are glorious. Well done. My nephew is on the autism scale - has been diagnosed with asbergers - so melt-down happens occasionally. However, he is currently in his third of four years away at university - so doing well.
    Take care. God bless.

  8. Awesome ink blending and beautiful card! I have a nephew that is high function autism and has always been a source of joy to us all! Ryan lacks the filters of polite society and has multiple times pointed out things that should stay hidden but mostly harmless! Love the photographs this week...birds are a favorite of mine and so hard to photograph! Have a great week! Thanks for visiting my desk! Vickie #8

  9. What a gorgeous post!!!! Your card is so beautiful in a rainbow of colors. I too am playing along with the Autism Awareness Hop. As a mom, I totally agree moms, dad, siblings are affected greatly. Our son is in college now but the days were long as we struggled along in the elementary years, middle school and even high school years. I just love your very last graphic with the scripture. There are still days where the burden is heavy. Thank you for your post!

  10. fabulous rainbow colours! I have a nephew who is autistic and an ex nephew (nephew of my ex husband) who is severely so, so I know a lot of the pitfalls and upsides too, it has to be said on occasion. Wonderful photos (I use mine on automatic and some of the programme modes, but don't tell anyone!) Helen #2

  11. Wow, I LOVE the way you created that rainbow background and then used it so beautifully on the card, it works so well against the white embossing. Clever gal. And the word Parple has now entered my dictionary, that made me smile. Hope the two lads enjoyed seeing the colours all come together.

  13. What a beautiful card Shaz. Autism is such a worthy cause. We know two families with autistic children, and you’re right, it is a struggle for the entire family but the children are such a delight. Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. I had my second chiropractic visit today and although I’m sore, I have high hopes that eventually this will be the thing that fixes me. He is very careful of my back and the osteoporosis. I wish for you a most blessed day and thank you for the beautiful shots. I always love them.
    Blessings, Betsy

  19. Hi Shaz, a lovely rainbow card in support of Autism awareness. I know some children with Autism and they all have their little quirks. One enjoyed sand play, but liked to get a spade full and throw it all over me... have a wonderful weekend... Megan

  21. It's a beautiful rainbow effect - and the deep purple looks very effective in your selection of colors. I like that bold sentiment against the pretty white embossing and it is so cool that you were able to cut the border from the rest of the rainbow effort. Enjoyed the scenic pictures and the sunset looks so peaceful. TFS & Have a good weekend.
