Well, yes it’s that time of week again everyone!! It’s WOYWW or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday... please head over to Julia’s HERE for desks of the world!
Several desks as been doing alcohol backgrounds on the yupo paper bought at Hobby Lobby, with Marilyn last Sept in Florida. Finally had the courage to try it after looking at lots and lots of videos.
Here is where first started, note messy work is done on junk mail as no clean up then. 😊 Also used a piece of acetate from a box lid as smooching station as it was really easy to use and lift up. Here's acetate after use and cleaned up brilliantly as well as ease of use!

Secret is less is more, ie stop when you first think stop. The beauty of course is that you can remix and fix any mistakes with alcohol ink. Especially on Yupo, plastic paper, really weird .. but oh so much fun.
Also used glossy cardstock and did whole lot of them... they’ll be great for Christmas cards. As mostly blues and silver...
Also did some violently different colours for me and loved them too! Not made into cards yet but have two cards to share.
Here is today's desk this morning, now late evening here. All backgrounds are made of Yupo and gloss card, the two Yupo cards are in various stages.
Two of three birthday cards in first week in May, I have 6 birthdays in 8 days! Wonderful backgrounds!
These were done with smooching technique where you load up one sheet of card stock and then smooch same size blank paper on the other side. Use blending solution to help move colour and tip sheet or blow to mix more.
Here are Aussie shots from late last year, still not on walks but my crook knee from fall has actually been bit better last two days so very grateful indeed. Next week my post will be done early at 2pm Wed having hour surgery on SCC on right shin, so won’t be walking soon.
Well, that’s a long post this week.
Thanks for being patient, I do hope it helps someone.
Happy WOYWW and God bless you all in your day and keep you in your way.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x
To close this verse is blessing indeed, Lamentations was written at a time of great sorrow, Jerusalem is under seige, cut off on all sides, about to be overrun and in severe dearth, starvation and death all around.
Yet Jeremiah pens these words. Truly this shows real faith in God. May I likewise be faithful.
Lamentations 3:25 “The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.”
Praying for Sri Lankans in their great loss.

Here are the three cards, the first two have Yupo backgrounds which were smooched together, one uses nearly whole sheet (5” x7”).
Flower dies on large one are CCD, on small one Memory Box and Creative Expression wonky rectangles. Both use Elizabeth Craft Designs happy birthday small one.
Showing the layering up here - the layers show I used all of that sheet of yupo with die cuts and background.
This last card is a serviette Card, a small one from my sister have enough for another card. Mounted with natural blue and gold Elizabeth Craft designs Quietfire happy birthday layering on card. Here are Aussie shots from late last year, still not on walks but my crook knee from fall has actually been bit better last two days so very grateful indeed. Hi Shaz, it's happening again! I watched a video last night on Yupo & Alcohol ink, and also adding foil to the 'sticky' edges of the ink, and it's on my to do list for later in the week! Lovely cards, stunning colours. Love the one made with the serviette too. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful! Thanks for the tip of less is more. It is hard to stop adding with alcohol inks.
ReplyDeleteI too have to stop and think before I delve into anything new to play with but isn't there something magical about watching those alcohol inks dance around. The beautiful die cuts really take those backgrounds to new heights and what a resourceful idea to use junk mail underneath as your mop up area. Fab cards.
ReplyDeleteHappy WoywW Shaz & all the best with the surgery next week. Hugs Tracey #5
How funny Shaz, I've literally just finished a sample using alcohol ink and Yupo paper. I love the stuff. Your cards look great. Hope the surgery goes well next Wednesday. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #6
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Amazing cards, your alcohol inks backgrounds on yupo are really wonderful and how impressive with white!! I have to buy some yupo papers, I only have used photographic ones.
ReplyDeleteGreat card also that with the serviette, such beautiful pattern and blue!! Just perfect with the big gold sentiment!
Hugs
So many gorgeous shades of blue all over your blog this morning! I love it as even the photos of the land has a lot of blue involved. Hapy WOYWW Glenda #16
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Shaz. The background using inks on yupo paper is Stunning..loz
ReplyDeleteWow! How gorgeous - I have several alcohol inks from years back but not heard of Yupo - I must investigate further! Love the Aussie photos and the verse is perfect. Thanks for sharing. Happy WOYWW and have a great week, with love and God Bless, Caro x (#20)
ReplyDeleteSomeone gifted me some pieces of Yupo and I have yet to use it... well done, and great results! You always have such fabulous cards to share with us all! Good luck with the surgery! Helen #1
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE the ink technique you used to create the cards, it is amazing! It does look like a technique that would take some time to work with, but oh what fantastic results! I have used shaving cream mixed with ink in the past on glossy paper, and it makes an incredibly fun design as well. Have you ever done those? Quite simple to do, in fact, it was one of my favorite techniques to teach to children (I used to be a Stampin Up! demo in years gone by). I enjoyed your beautiful pictures of Australia, gorgeous coastlines! I hope you are having a lovely day today! Blessings and hugs :)
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the results you got. Hope all goes well with the surgery. Anne x #13

your backgrounds look terrific, I recently bought Yupo paper but haven't tried it out yet, like the white against them, and using it for your sentiments! Your last card is gorgeous, love those papers and the gold against it works great! Wishing you all the best with the healing of your leg, may all go well with your surgery!

Hello, Shaz! Just popping in to take a look at your gorgeous alcohol ink backgrounds and cards! They look beautiful! I really like the one with the 30 on it! Looks like you've been having a good play with them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your return visit, Shaz. Your account of your dentist experiences is nothing short of a Hammer House of Horror story!!! I think I got off lightly... They would definitely have had to knock me out to do that lot. I'm so sorry you were put through it. I'm not sure what SCC is but I hope your hour surgery on your leg goes OK. Where my tooth was is definitely better. I had it done a week ago tomorrow - where does the time go! So glad you like my flowers - the bullion knot one is 3rd from R on top row! They look a bit like spider's legs! Still having a few computer issues with my new site but working on it. I've disabled the troublesome security plugin that was locking me out.
ReplyDeleteGod bless, and praying for you with your awful tooth problems!!!!!
Shoshi x
Wonderful card Shaz! I love the background you've created, it looks fabulous with the white die cut.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Beautiful snippets card and your Yupo work is just stunning Shaz. I need to dig mine out and have another play - but a little white fluffy bundle has other ideas of course.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you need surgery - is that from the fall? Have been thinking of you loads and sending positive thoughts.
Hugs - and a loving cuddle and 'woof' from Dudley Dog!

Lovely! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz. Thanks for the info about the address on the tags for hope card. That is not Teddy B. I just used a picture from their website. When I receive Teddy Bs card I will remember not to put it on my blog... Thanks...loz
