Hi there .. just watched the Syd Anzac Day March, a bit of a long-standing tradition here. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. On the 25th of April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula.
These became known as Anzacs and the pride they took in that name continues to this day.
May we always honour those who’ve fought to preserve our freedoms and be grateful for the blessing of every single one of those freedoms so many do not enjoy these!
Here is a quick post and a card for the CAS Stencil Challenge which closes in an hour!
This card was a labour of love, it so did not want to turn out!!
First of all the gold embossing paste was hard. When I bought the dreamweaver paste on eBay it arrived dented in a plastic container. The seller packed it badly for trip to Oz, so refunded it when I told her what happened...predictably it dried out before full use. I wasn’t giving up! so used Wendy Vecchi clear paste and some gold acrylic paint which looked a bright gold by itself, and even wen wet with paste ... however when dry it was ugh!
So now what? Tried covering a few media with no success over paste then thought of the Finetec watercolours in metallic (bought after seeing Cathy of Cathy’s card spot use them). YES! they painted beautifully over the paste, also used brown Tombow pen on the sunflower centre.
Sunflowers are seen all over French fields... like the poppy so think they’re very appropriate for Anzac Day, and needed spare sympathy card so that’s what it is. Good to remember these dear faithful ones this way too.
The sheet used on back of unamed stencil piece is alcohol play -see the post below or here.. Used also for Elizabeth craft designs With Sympathy die. Corners are from SB Marvellous Square Die.. trimmed off nice corners attached underneath
An Aussie photo we are enjoying stunning sunshine ... but not one taken recently, as I'm not well at all at mo.
Lord bless dear ones and thank you for reading this post and taking time to comment. You bless my heart. Prayers for you too.

So glad you got your beautiful and glowing stenciled sunflower with eb paste card posted to our CAS Stencil Card Challenge. Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteMy dear Shaz, I read this morning for the first time of ANZAC Day and I was struck by just how many were affected by that horrible war. I have thought of it off and on today as we went about our day. Then I read your post tonight and was struck once again by just how many people have been affected by it throughout the years.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with you, my sweet sister, for a healing of your body from our Lord. May he bless you with abundant health in His time. Wishings you a wonderful day.
Blessings,
Betsy
Beautiful sunflower card Shaz! Love the blue background paired with your gold flower ... gorgeous combination. Glad you stuck with it for the embossing paste. I have the Finetec colours on my wish list, but now I'm thinking I really need to get them. Wonderful that they coloured over your embossing and it turned out the way you wanted in the end.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are not well. Take care. And thanks for sharing your beautiful card with us at CAS Stencil! xx
Amazing card, your textured sunflower is awesome and love the effect of the youpo background and those elegant corners!!

ReplyDeleteHow interesting to learn about your ANZAC soldiers! Yes, I think soldiers from any country should be honored as they have fought to preserve our freedoms. Our freedoms come at a price and the price comes from our soldiers and their families. I'm glad you persevered with this card Sharon, it is amazing and so beautiful!!! Love the Aussie shot as well. Praying that you are well soon my dear friend! Hugs, Brenda

Sounds like a good day to honor those that have gone before!
ReplyDeleteYour card turned out so pretty after all that you had to go through to bring it to this point, good for you not giving up on it!
Gorgeous sunflower card, love the yellow against the blue 'sky'. Lovely photos. Emmax
ReplyDeleteYour card turned out gorgeous in the end Shaz. You have a lot of patience. I would have thrown it in the rubbish and made a cup of tea..loz
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz. Although it is not a big celebration over here we have not forgotten the part these brave men played in the war. Usually round about the Anzac day we buy special Anzac biscuits from the supermarket. It may not seem like much but it does keep the memory alive and that's got to be good. Wishing you a lovely weekend, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteWow! What a gorgeous sunflower that is. For as many obstacles that you had to go through to complete this, it sure paid off. This is just stunning. I love the blue background too. The colors compliment each other nicely. Thanks so much for sharing this with us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Hi Shaz, sorry I missed this beauty, aren't the Finetec paints just beautiful?! You did a great job with them here.Been MIA a bit as my stepdad passed away and so there is a lot to attend to, clearing up, prepping house for sale etc. Keeping busy is good though. Take care and hope you are fully mended soon, Cathy x
