Snippets with Bokeh technique + CAS .Alcohol Lift + WOYWW

hi there everyone, I only seem to blog on Wed these days! And since it’s Wednesday, it’s time for WOYWW or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday.. pop over to Julia’s Stamping Ground to check out all the best desks .. you learn soo much! Warning its addictive...in the nicest way.
My desk this morning:
Well, there slightly to left underneath the A4 Courture Creations GoPower Pro plates is  a green corner of start of a yupo card and new stamping technique of Alcohol lift over at the CAS mix it up July Challenge. Their samples though needed an Alcohol lift ink pad which I’ve nowhere to buy except online. Not intending to do that at moment. However found easy way via older Jennifer McGuire video (here.. it’s alcohol lift with Ranger Archival soft grey ink).
Desk monkeys have hopped down to say hi again, next to Crop lighthouse and WOYWW frame. Monkeys live on desk lamp base at back. Also at middle right is white ink applicator used with Versafine white chalk ink to make Bokeh technique, coloured stencil die cuts of random sized circles. The  base sheet is on last weeks desk back here. I loved how both cards came together, share below.
First card is the Bokeh base, used oxides on last week’s desk, made frame with ovals (Cottage Cutz Stitched Ovals ). Used two largest dies, adhered a piece of the scrap inked card with Bokeh sheet under frame, AND have enough for another card😊. Dies were used to make oval frame around inky background below.
😊 Memory Box Blushing Flower branch cut twice, then adhered over the coloured oval frame. Added the Hero Arts hugs and prayers set, stamped “sending hugs and prayers” greeting.
Second card with alcohol lift technique, if you had right ink pad you wouldn’t get the faint grey tone, but more white. TIP: Think you need to use stamp positioner with this technique as need to restamp a number of times to lift alcohol ink. Since this is translucent yupo I think this is fine. Stamp is Hero Arts Delicate leaf cluster (also used here). Love it’s oriental dreamy look. This alcohol ink yupo sheet was failed one, ie I didn’t like it, so cleaned it off with isopropyl alcohol as you can with yupo, and reinked.
To do the lift just inked up stamp with Light grey Ranger Archival to lift of the outline of the stamp. Acc to Jennifer McGuire it is only ink that works (apart from newer release alcohol lift ink pad). Only one I tried, very glad I had a mini pad. Stamping greetings deep blue Versafine using Inspired by Stamping sympathy set by Joanna, think it’s disc. sadly. Lovely set. Used Creatif Wonky Rectangles for frame mount.
Aussie photos were taken on Monday when visiting, as you can see we’ve been enjoying lovely winters sunshine .. you get softer hues at this time of year.
Lovely crisp clarity too, second zoomed shot has a yacht on the middle of skyline. God's creation is amazing.
Well, that’s it for today, may the LORD bless you all wherever you maybe. Thanks so much for popping over especially if you’ve time for a chat.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

Thought for the day:
Love this verse.
Yes! "..the Lord he is God: .. he  made .. us..  we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture."
How blessed are we? Very!
Joining up with the following:
Used Snippets on both cards so off to the playground... ah, I bags a swing in the sunshine ..

  1. It's strange to think you are having winter when we are sweltering here in the Southern USA! It has been so hot here. I worked in the yard yesterday morning and by 10 am I had to give it up and come indoors. Back out this am to try and finish trimming my shrubs! Lovely photos as always and your cards are amazing! Have a good rest of the week!

  8. Hi Shaz, beautiful cards, love the backgrounds. I just had a thought re the 'lift ink'. I wonder if you could do it by 'inking' your stamp with Isopropyl alcohol? Make an 'inkpad' from some folded kitchen paper, add some alcohol, then try the stamping? Might work. Might have to try this out later. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X

  15. Am sure i read somewhere that Tracey Evans did the 'lift technique' with Versafine - must see if I can find it for you. Don't hold out too much hope, I am useless as finding things on the net. However, I do have the ink pad - and the reinker but have not used it as yet. Had them agers but the back pain has stopped me working in my craft room these past few months - but one day ...
In the meantime I must say you have come up with a beautiful card. Just as you have obviously mastered the Bokeh technique. Two lovely cards Shaz, and I love the colours you chose.
Praying for healing for you. I go to a spinal guy on Friday - at long last I hope to get somewhere. 7 months of continual daily pain is no joke.
Love and Blessings, Neet 5 xx

  21. Both cards are just lovely, I always love the look of bokeh. That is a bummer your first attempt didn't work but your finished card turned out lovely. I have the lift ink but haven't given it a try yet, I feel back about that, will have to work on that soon, you have given great inspiration.
Hope every day has you feeling just a little better than the day before

  22. Love your desk shot Shaz - especially with your wee monkeys sitting there :)
Your cards are stunning - love the bokah one, and the alcohol lift is fabulous.
Your photos are so lovely - it's been cold and 'grey' here most of the week, with a fair splattering of rain and drizzle with it.
    Blessings

  23. The cards are beautiful Shaz. I like the grey effect using the Archival ink pad. A stamp positioner does help though you are right. The only other advantage with the alcohol lift pad proper is that you can then stamp the ink you have lifted off one image onto white card to create a second piece. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

  26. Two beautiful cards Shaz!! I LOVE your delicate and beautiful bokeh card. The soft colours for the background look amazing with the white bokeh design. So perfect with the oval aperture and your pretty white die-cut. The black sentiment really stands out. Gorgeous card!!

Your AI lift turned out really well. Just so you know, you can use blending solution or rubbing alcohol to also "lift" colour from AIs. Just have to add a little at a time. I use a small sponge dauber and make sure there's only a little of the solution on it. Your gray archival ink worked fabulously! I didn't know about that --- thanks for the tip! Your AI background is so beautiful with the saturated colours. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

The seaside pictures are gorgeous. Such lovely winter weather!! xx

  27. Sorry to be late Dear Gal, I don’t know who or what to blame! Loving the look of a down-under winter, my word that soft light is bewitching. Beautiful cards, I do admire the way you research and try alternative routes for thing s you want to try. That Hero arts stamp is just beautiful, mine is over used and I’m not ashamed to say it! I love the Bokeh technique and it was the other Shaz who gave me the tip of using a sponge or tool to transfer the white ink without wrecking a pad. You Shaz women, so sharing! Xxx
