Distress Oxides Stencil Layering for Christmas + WOYWW

Yess! It’s Wednesday so time for WOYWW again or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday? Over to Queen of Deskland - Julia of the Stamping Ground. My desk today..
Hope to make another batch of cards, since Christmas pile needs a boost. Saw this idea on last week’s Scrappy Mo challenge with brusho backgrounds so late night pulled out some biscuit packet with white backing and sprinkled, spritzed and splattered result nice bright backgrounds, two more subdued on left out of photo. Three masks are washed in cases waiting to go away showing them on next desk. Tiny white scribbled paper on top of right side stencils? Card ideas.
So here I using an idea I saw over at Sarah’s craft shed last week, not her WOYWW post but one before, I often wander around when doing WOYWW, only time being a sticky beak isn’t bad manners.😁 Sarah used Oxides, beautifully layered with masking for background. Added embossed gold images. I thought Christmas cards. Yes! wild tangent, but that’s me! Layered colours three blue DOxides, needed deep blue, tried regular DI chipped sapphire. Worked just fine. Mask colour was citron oxide, with three stencils.
NOTE TO SELF: don’t seal Oxides before heat Embossing. Seal Oxides with hairspray or micro distress glaze, to make colours pop. But one I accidentally did it before Stamping and embossed ugh! Powder everywhere shouldn’t be! Turned out kinda ok but lots of work.
Finished cards, set of 4, the stamps are Stampendous Glory to God wood moubt, bought with Marilyn in Florida last Sept, nativity stamp is quite old wood mount stamp. Used my stamp-ma-jig to position them. Not going to mess up after that!
Aussie photos are from today! I went to our botanic gardens with a friend, so nice. So sharing some of our amazing plants.
Below Gymea Lily with a Waratah tree above it, Waratah Tree close up.
These are Clivia, and Lily pond with a tortured willow in front of it, it was shaped like a little cubby size for little people. Yes, I could fit in it!

Next two photos are from family travelling in Victoria.. first is silo paintings on the silo art trail down there, amazing pencil-like black and white drawings. Next garden bed with some stocks in Gardens there in central Vic. They’ve not had severe drought of elsewhere so family enjoyed visit thus far.
Pray you’re all well, and thanks so much for popping over for a peek and chat. May God richly bless you wherever you maybe!
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x
Thought for Today
These photos were taken this week, if you put a pin in the middle of NSW, you’d probably land near Gunnedah where these were taken.
I’m praying for Darryn & Michelle  Phinn and their family at Carol, who’ve been living, breathing in this dust, parched landscape - day after day. That’s dust storm on horizon, with willy-willy in one of photos.
PRAY please for Darryn & Michelle, for relief with rain.
Praying also for Rappville , a small town three hours north west of us.
There were 30 homes lost last night in bushfire, nearly the whole town gone, including village hall. Incredibly it looks like it was deliberately lit. So sad.
Why do sad things happen? Jesus' answer to this question was this:
God sees what we cannot, "His way is perfect", and "He will perfect that which concerneth me", and you, as we seek Him.
Blessings, dear ones, I pray for you in your burdens.
“Our Heavenly Father knoweth.” “He careth for you”.

  5. Hi Shaz, thank you so much for the card, really appreciated it! Almost at the end now, just one tomorrow, then one more in two weeks. Loving the cards, the colours are stunning! Must try that with the stencils. Have a hundred & one ideas in my head to try when my brain is working properly! Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X

  6. Good morning dear Shaz. What gorgeous cards today. The blue is stunning. Your Aussie shots of the flowers are pretty too. My husbands company manufactures the grain silos so I will be sure and show him that photo. :-)
My prayers are with all of you and the horrible dryness and fires. May God in his great mercy send rain and heal the land.
    Blessings always my dear friend.

  7. I often wonder when I see that a fire has been started deliberately 'did the person really mean to do this damage or was it just a moment of madness'. How awful for Rappville to be devastated like that. I do hope that it turns out to be accidental. If it was deliberate the person who did it obviously needs help in some form. My heart goes out to you all, especially as we are having so much rain and I am thinking that you are heading into spring and summer with even less chance of rain. At times like this we should be thankful we don't experience this type of thing and be glad for the green we are surrounded by.
Love the other photos of oz - especially the silo paintings. Do you mean there are lots of silos all painted in a similar way? Wow, such beautiful work.
You have been creating beautiful cards once again. I always remember how much I admired your work when I first began commenting on it. I think that is what drew me to you in the first place - and then we had that wonderful opportunity to meet up
God works in a mysterious way doesn't He. He brought you to me and I am so thankful.
    God Bless

  10. It's so sad to see the devastation that a drought can cause - as for the mindless idiots who started the fire, words fail me. I hope they get caught. Lovely pics of the plants, I remember most of those when we visited! I do love that blue for the Christmas cards, something a little different!

  13. Hi Shaz, beautiful cards - I must look up the post on Sarah's blog. I haven't been around for a couple of months, but I have done a little craft shopping ... and I bought the wonky stitches dies that I've seen you use a couple of times, so I'm looking forward to using them.

I hope you do get some rain soon - so sad that we have too much, and you don't have enough. That's distressing about the village being wiped out like that. I hope they manage to rebuild and keep the community together. Have a lovely week, God bless, Heather xx #28

  14. Hi Shaz, I love the masking technique it always makes flat cards look so classy. I use this on many of my cards as well as journal pages. Super cards, you are doing so well adding to your Christmas makes.
Lovely flower photo's, i'm already thinking of my garden and a little bit of landscaping for next spring. That silo is the best I have ever seen!
So sad to read of the bush fires, devastating... if only we could have blown over some of our heavy rains over to help put them out quicker.
Keeping those that have lost in my thoughts..
Take good care of yourself WoywW Hugs Tracey #11

  18. Hi Shaz. Sorry I'm late. Lovely, lovely cards today - and some great shots of your flowers. I have some clivia plants. Unfortunately, the parent plant (almost 80 years old) died earlier this year - but I still have some of its offspring!!
Such heartbreak and devastation in your land. May our Father in Heaven be merciful and gracious unto you.
    Take care. God bless.

Visited family in Narromine and Dubbo over the long weekend and was saddened to see how bad things are for farmers. Always lovely to see the beautiful part of your world. His creation is amazing.
