Brusho Cards + Stampscapes Meets Lawn Fawn + WOYWW

Hi there everyone 😊
Yesss, it’s Wednesday, time too for WOYWW or What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday at Julia’s Stamping Ground.
Please join us do, we're a friendly bunch!
Now to my desk(s):
First desk last Friday is trying out my early birthday pressie. Tonic glass mat, EVERYONE was right, they're great to work on! Raised rear drawer set by reshaping box mat came in. So can still open drawer now not flush with desktop. Love the white background, it shows up stray ink etc., for easy clean up. No longer use wet wipes as read they're mostly non-degradable, 100 years to break down (11 billion used per yr in UK read here). Use old paper servettes or old cloths like "olden" days! 😊 Sew up all old towels, teatowels, even singlets for beautiful soft cloths, maximising worn items, as my mother did, old ways make total sense.
Microfibre cloths have micro-plastics too, so I wonder if  good for waterways, too?
Anyhoo! Today’s desk, I’m learning how easy this mat is to clean up discarded old paper serviette easy clean! I’ve used Stampscapes to create a background scene for the ultra cute puffin set from Lawn Fawn. NOT a Valentine's card, but anniversary card, order from family, for 9th so better get cracking, but stamps only just arrived. This effort was at 2-3am this morning when was up with noisy chronic condition, it’s still not settled. Pray so by next week. When things are out whack they’re out of whack, suspect tonight will be repeat but is getting better.
Now to cards, this first one is February one and it’s off already to Japan, thought this die cut looked oriental, with chrysanthemums and dragonfly.
The orange background is card off home-made jelly plate (recipe on sidebar). Didn’t have sufficient coverage as was clean off piece so added Brushos, had lovely glimmer from glitter paint. The die is NBUS CCD, the stamp is 1990 Stampendous woodblock.
Second card is also Brushos.. background was last week’s post (Here!). Where reapplied more Brushos cos not happy.
Totally love this washy colour variation now, used PB Poppy stamp, and coloured with glimmery paints, as well as brusho colours mixed (Cobalt, Yellow, Sandstone). Used Scrapdragon A6 dies, two sets to make frame, birthday stamp is from Sweet 'n Sassy floral set.
Now to Aussie shots, first the beach this afternoon! That’s rain out to sea and, yes we’ve had some.
In for much more acc to Bureau, pray it is so, PRAYING especially over the hill to Western Slopes and Plains drought areas, + firegrounds, they look promising (see Here!)🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Next photos still on today’s walk..
Very pretty flowers, an Aust native hibiscus in bright yellow, also comes in mauve. It is more of very large shrub or small tree, than regular hibiscus.
Here is a PPP, Pretty Petunia Patch, do love petunias they make you smile.
Next is a peach Frangipani, with a pink crêpe myrtle, what an amazing colour combo!
Managed last week, in spite of everything, to call on everyone who called on me, I think. Actually go through withdrawals when can’t make visits!
Love you all out there, appreciate you soooo much, many of you are on my prayer list each night, too!
May God bless your day wherever you maybe, and keep you and those you love safe, thank YOU especially if you take time to comment.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

  3. I agree with you about cutting up old linens to use as dusters, our forebears were right! I still do it to this day. The turquoise brusho background of the poppy card is quite beautiful, I think it's a perfect combo!

  4. Hap hap happy birthday craft mat! so glad you’re pleased with it, and well done for sorting out the drawer issue too...would have taken me a bit longer to think of reusing the box to raise them up, genius gal! Lovely cards, love particularly the poppy in gold, isn’t it fab on the brusho background. Hope you’re pleased with them. And how marvellous to see moody rainy skies, I really hope they yield inland. Xx

  6. Nope... It is indeed gone... So... lets try remember what I said... I still don't have a glass mat and use my trusty non stick craft sheet which I clean with cotton rags or rollor towel. My baby wipes last me at least a year as they are for emergencies... Love your card and your garden photos.

  10. Beautiful cards, Shaz, especially the Japanese-style one (favourite Bible quote too!) and the Aussie pics gave my heart a lift - all those beautiful colourful flowers to lift the spirits in cold and grey old England in early Feb!! Thank you for your visit, and I think my quote for this year should be "Procrastination is a tomorrow job"!! haha! Like you, in between not feeling well enough, I am trying to do some tidying this year, and am gradually working my way through the stuff in the office. I've done a huge amount of shredding and my hubby is going to layer it with kitchen waste in the compost heap, and it should rot down OK. The pieces are very small. Thank you for your visit and it's interesting to hear of another person using Tombows, and hearing how well they last. The more I find out online, the more glad I am I opted for this brand - everyone seems to think they are the best. I watched a beautiful video this a.m. on blending with them, and she made a stunning art work from a colouring book page, using various blending techniques. Glad you like the case I got! I am so pleased with it. What paper do you favour for calligraphy? Do you use anything special?

Thank YOU for being a blessing, too, and God bless you Shaz.

    Happy WOYWW,

  11. I'm glad you're enjoying your early birthday gift. It looks like it will be very helpful to you in your card making, although I don't understand any of it. :-)
Your Aussie shots are gorgeous. The flowers amaze me as we have had 5 inches of snow today and it's still coming down! I'm so relieved to hear that you have had rain.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. Cool mat! I love mine! Never knew one could make their own jelly plate, I do have a couple but need to drag them out and play. Your cards are beautiful! And I always enjoy your scenic photos! Love the Scripture! Have a wonderful week!

  13. Thank you so much for your return visit, Shaz, and for the info on the calligraphy paper. Very helpful! I shall explore that video. I've ordered a very reasonably priced pad from Amazon of a brand of paper for practising that someone recommended on Youtube. It's marked in squares which helps with keeping the letters straight and the correct height. The paper is apparently nice and smooth. That's very good advice about making sure the pen tops are on properly. Sometimes it's easy to forget to "click" them properly, especially if they are a bit stiff, or if you are working with several different ones at the same time. It's difficult to remember mundane practical things when you are "in the zone" creatively!

    Hugs and blessings,
    Shoshi x

  16. Beautiful cards Shaz. I keep my paper towel mop up sheets, clean my stamps on them too then split them into separate layers for adding to tags as backgrounds. The Aussie photos are lovely. Still praying for rain for you. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

  17. Hi Shaz, lovely cards there, and I love my Brushos too, colours are so bright. As to glass mat, yes any old rags for cleaning, and occasionally I remove build up from mine with a skarsten scraper, very effective.
    Bless you

  18. I still haven't had my Brusho's out yet - smack on wrist as I did say I would do after seeing your work.
So sorry to hear you are having a terrible time with your chest, prayers for you and healing.
Lovely cards, especially the die cut one against that gorgeous background. You talk of not using babywipes because of the environment and you mention Lawn Fawn stamps. Well, I am sure it is Lawn Fawn who do the stamp wiper that I have. It is a bit like a chamois and it dries out so you just wet it under the tap and use it to clean your stamps. Caro saw mine and bought one not long ago so she might be able to help with what it is called etc. Well worth buying!
Lovely shots of Australia and happiness in that there is rain. My sister in NSW is still suffering with the smoke so I know it is not over yet by a long way. Prayers for Australia are always there.
    Blessings, Neet 1 xx
it is a Lawn Fawn Shammy and is about £5 - put it in Google and see what you think xx

  19. I'm late , I'm late for a very important date.....sorry but I've made 5 Memory bears in last two days plus other urgent sewing jobs too and of course my customers must come first :-). I guess it's better late than never eh?
Really love your cards and hope you're feeling much better very soon.

  20. Love your Oriental flower card. I really must get my Brushos out. So many of the cloths and wipes we use are plastic based. The only answer is to stop buying them. I keep a Stack of serviettes by my mat. I often use napkins/serviettes in my art so I always have the second and third layers to use up. Belated happy WOYWW Angela #22

  26. Hi Shaz! those cards are gorgous. I love my tonic. I have Tim's black one. A bit of wipe down with hand sanetizer will take away almost anything - even adhesive! I bought a large bottle at our $store just for the purpoe. Thanks for the visit, dear lady. I'm late getting 'round since Bob came home. The first 4 days always belong to him. Hugs & Creative Blessings til tomorrow. Kelly #19

  27. I love your cards, so beautiful! And the pics of Australia, we have heard so much bad news from Down Under, it's nice to see that not everywhere was affected. Beautiful flowers! I got a glass mat for Christmas, and love it as well. I didn't know about the wipes, I will go back to paper towels! Thanks for your visit, and here I am even later than you to mine! Lindart #24

  28. Hi Shaz, I'm getting caught up, daughter's wedding was storybook, Honey and I have been taking our time getting back to normal at home now. Beautiful cards from you as usual. You do such a good job embossing and your backgrounds are blended so well. What a sight to see those lovely flowers down under after all the fire horrors. God Is Good, XOX
