To my desks.. yesterday desk 1 and desk 2 are not Christmas cards but rather oxides blending. Needed a birthday card and an encouragement card and so thought I’d do a two-fer Silhouette cards, albeit too late to actually join in with challenge. Der! 😆 the first one is the spotlight technique with the Floral silhouette by Woodware. Oh, I really, really, REALLY love this stamp. Oxides were as shown, I’d die cut a scrap bit of card with a circle die for spotlight mask. I used Darkroom Door mesh stencil over oxides, spritzed on top side, ie finest side, not underneath and gently tap around to imprint into masked circle. Flatter back side does not work as well. If miss a bit, carefully resist and press down in the area very gently..
Second desk I’m just doing a masked strip and the double masked with a Kaisercraft spots stencil in white on top, as you can see with these I’m using make up brushes with oxides, either use these or foams, and wash well after use. Don’t have enough to do otherwise. Also don’t have enough Oxides inks so just pull out desired coloured in regular DI and mix in. Work just fine. Here are the finished cards.
I’ve used Sweet ‘n Sassy greetings on both, “Floral greeting” on birthday, and “Wait on the Lord” on encouragement card. Now to Christmas cards. Well, I’ve now a total of 81 Christmas cards, so calling a pause to catch up on other tasks. Still ideas floating in my head but will see how many more I need. In 2018, I was blessed to have an amazing trip around world catching up with bloggers, WOYWW in September chez Margarets, and these lovely poinsettia images which are on a vellum background on seven cards were bought for $1.99 with Marilyn in Hobby Lobby, as were the four nativity ones.So that’s these eleven cards, used some assorted dies and embossing folders. The embossed verse from Luke 2 is my favourite Stampendous stamp, added peel offs down the side.As stickers and the border EF on one of cards are NBUS, I’m linking over for the NBUS Challenge, which thankfully 😅 hasn’t ended yet, as well as Mo’s. Here are two more cards, made with Beccy's Place Digi images so will join over with her challenge too. Greetings are Karen's (from WAW) digis. Dies are SB Magnificent circles, and Courture Creation EF. Now to Aust photos courtesy of holidaying family member. It’s north of here, another lot of grey nomads. **Keep praying for crops to be harvested before the rain please and not go black and mouldy. Ta.This is Woody Head, so right on beach, here’s the view!
Ah, chill, relax!
There are some very interesting sedimentary rock platforms, all natural nought added. Next is a weathered piece of timber.. aren’t the striations amazing!? Then Smooth Serenity thornless rose and an orchid, an Oncidium, Wilsonara, Eye Candy. Has another stem coming through too. Last pickie is a noisy flock of rainbow lorikeets who visited to say hullo when I was at a friends. They’re pretty generic around here.
Thanks so much for popping over for a peek and a chat. You’re all very much in my prayers and thoughts that you’ll all be well and you and dear ones will be kept Covid free.
Prayer hugs,
Shaz in Oz.x
Thought of the Day:
"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9
A dear sister in the LORD sent this verse to me this week, when I really needed it. It cheered me up. I like lots are, am often very VERY weary, and its so easy to quit sit around and do nothing. But we dont, we get on with it. Praying to the dear Heavenly Father for grace for the day, strength for the way. I pray this today for YOU!
I am impressed with all those Christmas cards achieved, and the oxide backgrounds too. Have a great week and stay safe. Helen #1
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection of cards Shaz. I do like that spotlight technique. Praying the rain holds off for a successful harvest. I can't believe it's been over two years since we met at the crop. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards and lovely photos Shaz, I really like the crisp designs of the Christmas ones with just red, gold and white, so smart and striking.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your visit the other day, I know we don't get to one another that often but the thoughts are there. You mention I craft like your friend, don't know any Eileen's I'm afraid but nice to know we like similar styles.

Oh MY!! Hi Shaz you have been busy!! I love all your inks, I only have a few of TH and seeing they've been up in the attic for the past six years ...they haven't dried out too much! Love all the cards too, I must get started...that's the hardest step!

Wow Shaz, you really are on a roll with your cards, and the results are beautiful on all of them. You are so talented!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I will even get any into the post this year as I will be moving on Dec 12th, all going well with the house sale... that said I came up with a very simple idea that would mass produce well, if I get to them!
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Super cards, Shaz! I really love those blues and greens! And all that blossom when nature is just shutting down around here for the winter. Those "generic" birds LOL - you'll never see those around here expect in the ZOO! They look amazing and exotic to us! We've got pigeons instead haha! Have a lovely time downunder! xx zsuzsa #9
ReplyDeleteH Shaz. Oh my. Now who has been busy?! The cards are beautiful and I'm sure will be cherished by those to whom you send them. Love the Christmas cards. They are great. My word... How big is that rock platform in real life? Looks amazing - and I just LOVE that tree.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Beautiful cards, love the way just a background can change an image.
ReplyDeleteSuper Christmas cards, hope to make a start on mine soon, there may even be some leftover from last year!! With the postage going up, unadvertised, last September I will have to think about posting so many cards . . .
Have a good week
God Bless you for your support

Wow you have been busy. Lovely cards all around and I noticed your blending brush. I have some of these and dearly love them!
ReplyDeleteWOW 81 cards, gee you have been busy and such a lovely selection of Xmas cards too and all so different too, thanks for joining us at October's Rudolph Days Challenge, Luv Sam x
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz, lots of fabulous cards to see, they really are delightful. LOve my make up brushes too, but I rarely wash mine. I just scrub off the excess ink on a microfibre cloth, a la Jennifer MacGuire, and it works a treat. I've even gone from purple to yellow on the same brush this way, and no colour contamination. The Woodware stamp is so good, isn't it? Nice when you can make different cards with the same stamp. Stay safe, have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #3 X
ReplyDeleteWow, Shaz! You have been busy! I love your inky woodware creations (wonderful colours!) and your Christmas cards are so elegant and beautiful- Happy Rudolf days! Your photos are so beautiful too. Sorry it has been a while since I visited. Hope you are keeping well x
ReplyDeleteHi! You've completed so many cards and they're beautiful! the floral stamp makes a perfect silhouette and you created a pretty blended background too. A thornless rose and a perfect orchid ~ amazing! and so are the colorful birds. Blessings on your week ~ Love, Karen#22
ReplyDeleteWow, you have been very busy Sharon! I am loving the ink blending cards, so beautiful with the silhouette flowers on them. All your Christmas card are stunning, especially the poinsettia/embossed vellum ones. What a great buy at Hobby Lobby! You have made the digi's into classy and elegant cards. I so love your style of cards! What amazing Aussie shots too. Yes, praying that harvest can be gotten through before the rain comes. I know all about black and moldy crops-although we only had it happen once that I remember. Everything was rotting that year, hay turned moldy, corn have black smoot mold on it-it was awful. That rock platforms is so interesting looking and I love the tree photo-such cool photo's! The flowers are stunning and I love seeing those brightly color birds, they look like a lot of fun to have to visit. I really loved the verse at the end, I can see why it cheered you Sharon! It is easy to sit quit and do nothing, but we don't. We do get on with it. Thank you for sharing this, and this is why you are still needed right here! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteWow your cards are gorgeous and so many - i was feeling good about finally doing a miserly 3 ha ha . the photos are glorious , i am missing the warm sun . Have a great week. Soojay #26
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, you have been busy and have so many beautiful Christmas cards made up. I enjoyed all of your beautiful post today, especially the Aussie pictures. I've indeed been praying for the harvest there as it's so important to get them in before rain falls.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to imagine lorokeets flying around free. They are beautiful birds but here are just in cages.
Thank you for the advice on my blogger situation. I do use Chrome and you could be right about the old app on my iPad not talking correctly to the new blogger. I do with I were more technological. If we lived closer I would drop all of my devices at your doorstep and let you fix them all!!!! Since I wouldn't be allowed within 6 feet of you, I would just have to leave them! Ha! I'm still working on it though. Thank you again for caring about me my dear sister. I pray God's blessings on you and I pray healing on your body.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Gosh! so many gorgeous cards Shaz. I really must get the Baby journals out of the way and get on with my Christmas cards. I love the Woodware stamp, have that somewhere and not used it for ages. Hi, there!
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't post again this week. I am sitting at my computer still surrounded by stuff from the other room, where the leak was. I tried really hard to keep my computer available. As you saw, and commented, I did manage to make and mail Halloween cards. I belong to two Christmas card clubs and have managed to post weekly, one card to each.
The new drywall is up and starting to apply primer, then texture then paint. As the carpet was ruined (and so very old) that is up and plan to use carpet tiles.
Your landscape is beautiful! I enjoy these pictures so much. Love the lorakeets too! We are starting into fall and winter isn't far behind. 25 degrees in the morning!
Stay safe and
Happy Wednesday!
Kathryn

You've certainly been busy Shaz, what a fabulous collection of cards! I love all the different techniques and designs you've used to create them all, particularly the ink and masking... what great effects! And it looks like you have an awesome stash to send out for Christmas too. Well done.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Beccy

ReplyDeleteWow what an amazing post... wonderful pictures, fabulous cards... I have to confess I caved and bought a few Distress Oxide inks to try, but that probably won't be until after my grandkids have gone back home after half term.

When my parents lived in Sydney, the rainbow lorikeets used to sit on the windowsill (on the 23rd floor) and shout at whoever was in the room; we presumed that the previous occupant had been in the habit of leaving crumbs on the windowsill! For those of us with pigeons and blackbirds for generic, these lorikeets are dazzling for everyday!! Well done on the Christmas cards, and especially for using up stuff, I would say two years is a good amount of time to ‘get over’ nice things that you brought on your trip and start to enjoy using them up! I haven’t counted my finished card stack, but believe me, it’s probably not up to twelve yet! Oh boy, and last posting dates are looming already. I have those makeup brushes and wash them out too, but don’t use them much, in fact just been trying an oxide blend which I don’t especially like, I find the ink is rather sluggish. Might have to change my cardstock for a better go. Thanks for telling me about your dual ended brushes, it could well have been very enabling of you! Loving the Aus pics pop course, the water movement on that fallen tree is really wondrous isn’t it.
ReplyDeletegood morning, Shaz. My you've been busy! I wish I had 81 Christmas cards made. I really dropped the ball this year and will be doing double time in the next couple of weeks. Your cards are so pretty. Adding the embossed mat really lets those images pop! I havent' done the spotlight mask in ages. Must give that one a go again. My favorite pic is of that tree. Perfect setting for a fantasy story. Creative Blessings! Kelly #25
ReplyDeleteIt must be so lovely seeing those colourful birds in a garden (and being close to the beach!). Your flowers are beautiful as are your Christmas cards. Have a great week Angela #26
ReplyDeleteYour productivity puts the rest of us to shame, Shaz! I love, love, love your beautifully blended and stenciled silhouette cards! It truly is a shame you missed it. :( And your Christmas cards! Oh, my, they are truly gorgeous! It is inspiring to see someone who uses embossing folders so effectively! Thank you for sharing your pretty photos and for sharing with everyone at NBUS! I hope you're doing lots better! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteLovely blending of your inks and the stamp does look great with both of them! Gorgeous poinsettia cards and I love the die you used to cut the nativity and wise men from. Love all your pictures, I pray you can bring in some good crops!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are all amazing and beautiful. The verses are always so well chosen, Shaz.
ReplyDeleteAs always, I loved the local photos. The birds especially...they are so colourful!
I will pray for good weather for the crops. My Dad owned a farm and we always prayed for no rain once the hay was cut in the fields. It needed so many days to dry, condition and get baled. The Lord blessed us most of the time, but sadly, there were some rainy times too.
Thanks for taking part in the October Rudolph Days Challenge.
I love all your cards, particularly the oxide colours you have used. Stunning views, beautiful rose, gorgeous orchid! What an inspirational post mon amie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of gorgeous Christmas cards Shaz. Thank you for joining the Rudolph Days Challenge this month.
