Two-fer Challenge + NBUS + Snippets Playground +Stencil Ink Resist Brushos Gilding Flakes

Hi there everyone! Sooo sorry I’ve been soo silent, I am quite sure there are less hours in a day or maybe it me going slower!? 😉 I’m  popping into share my Two-fer, Snippets and NBUS with Simon Says “hugs”! Okay, multi-tasking is the go!

Firstly my Twofers, which I will share all about below!
My desk earlier... I’m sharing this picture to show you what I made my card topper from - a frozen meal packet.. a real snippet! It’s lovely and white, excellent for watercolour, so I used a brusho background, Cobalt, Sandstone and Yellow, then added the lovely Paper Roses Gumleaf stencil first used back here! All details there.

I wanted to use gilding flakes with this stencil but flitter glue is not easy to remove so didn’t want to use it. (Have made masks or stencils before with dies and thrown them away- see here). Anyway decided to try Cosmic gold stencil paste and then lay gold leaf loosely over it. When dried overnight brushed it off, and burnished it with my finger as stray bits stick even with brush.

This technique - ie gold stencil paste with gilding flakes is my NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff). Not sure if technique included in Schtuff, but I was really delighted with result so thought I’d share it there! The gilding flakes were multi coloured. And now I think of the gold paste was new anyway! Not that you can see it. Hugs die is by  Impression Obsession.

My offering for TWO-FER “Leaves” challenge (see here), .. t’other card, is similar to one one done on linked post above, in different colours. Used DI Antique Linen at top, under the SU French script, white heat embossed background.. rest were Gansai Tambai watercolour in blues. Used rough hot pressed water colour pad, which you’re not supposed to use with stamping.

Mm, think some rules are made to broken and yes, has LOTS OF texture but still works well, just need to be careful with plenty of anti static powder, inky plus stamp, don’t rush your stamping, press really well and take your time. Had no multiple stamping as it is a wooden stamp. Used Distress oxides in blue on gum blossoms stencil.
Just sharing a THREE-Fer, another card made with this stencil, similar colours but the other different gumleaves shapes and no blossoms, it’s on the other side of the stencil!! Otherwise the same just lemon watercolour on base of blue, instead of DI Antique Linen.

Now to the Aussie photos, here are some kookaburras..

Three in our yard in deciduous frangipani, and one when was out walking..
Cosmos from front garden, first time ever grown them. Just sprinkled seeds from a dead head or two from a neighbour, and have a great show, that’s my kind of gardening!
Lastly a couple of Aussie seascape. Second one, has a wind surfer in it .. or paraglider, having fun!

Thanks so much for popping over, dear ones, especially if you pop over to say hi. I'm sorry, still struggling to comment , do often visit folks, but on mobile comments often difficult. This post is done in mobile device too.

Loads of thanks and gentle prayer hugs.

Especially praying the Lord will watch over all of you, and keep you and those you love safe,

Thought of the Day:

“O taste and see that the LORD is good,

blessed is the man that trusteth in Him” Psalm 34:8

If we but look - we can see the finger of God in the beautiful handiwork of creation, in a bird, a flower or even clouds (which I love), they can all hold you breathless, at their beauty.

How can one look at the rapidly changing sky, see the power and beauty of the ocean or the trees and doubt there is a hand that created it??

And this wonderful Creator God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him, through His Son Jesus’ death on the cross of Calvary for my sin, yours and the sins of the whole world

This gift of salvation is not ours till we take it by faith, believing.

What treasure we then have! A home in heaven .. by faith in Jesus.

Indeed “TASTE and see that the LORD is good, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.”

Happy 100th Birthday, Beatrice! + WOYWW

Hullo, hullo! It’s Wednesday... again! As it’s a fortnight since I blogged I’ve really no right to be surprised, but I am! 😉😃 And yes, for those in the know Wednesday time for desks of the world at WOYWW - What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday So head over to Julia’s - peek, learn and share - do! Today two desks for the price of one.

Here I’m trying to finish a card for my Aunty, this card has been in the making since Friday, one stage at a time, very indecisive, not my colours so seem to have lost natural flow.

Second desk was last week, when trying to decide on papers, colours and actual images for a 100th birthday for my friend’s mother, Beatrice! Many happy returns of the day, Beatrice!

Her favourite flower is sweetpeas, so I printed out a number of sweetpea images. Hence used them on my aunt’s card, but actually chose the red for my Aunt, as she wore a patterned outfit with a lot of red in it last time I saw her. Anyway, decided mauve with touch of pink, glittery silver was the obvious choice for Beatrice's 100th, added glitter layer (Tim Holtz Rock candy glitter) over the image.
This first image on desk inside under lights captures it the glittery effect the best!
So here is the finished card. Use SB die set Divine Eloquence, used largest die cut and the greeting from it and the 2nd largest Labels 28 happens to fit into the centre perfectly, so this how I cut the sweetpea image out. I was given that set, years ago now, very useful. So blessed..

Now to the Aussie views... for photography, Autumn on north coast has the most amazing skies, colours and clarity of light.

I often just stand still, simply amazed in my walk, at the surprise of such beauty.

How blessed am I? Thank You, Lord!

The last photo .. that scene took my breath away as I came upon it, and it was a real dad painting the whole setting of it, he would’ve loved it.

Every blessing of the LORD everyone where ever you maybe and thanks so VERY much for popping over for peek and chat..
Mm, am way behind these days so will endeavour to call back eventually, God enabling me!
Prayer hugs, 🙏🤗 Shaz in Oz.x

Thought for the day:
This verse from Hebrews 12:2 is my life verse, I’m sure I’ve shared it before but I will never weary of it. When things are hard, tough and very difficult to bear this verse ALWAYS and in ALL WAYS picks me up.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

A dear brother in the Lord now in heaven used to say:
Keep looking UP, it’s only mud underneath!
How true is that?
And the One we must look up to, is the LORD Jesus Christ.
He has run the toughest race ever! Bearing His cross, He climbed the hill to Calvary - whipped, mocked and jeered, spat upon, and hanging on that cross He bore  the sins of the whole world.
So He gets it!
He understands like none other how utterly different, difficult and tricky life is for us all, at times.
It always humbles me to read that “for the JOY that was set before Him, He endured the cross”!
He died for me, my sin and now I have a place in heaven waiting for me, because I asked Him to be my Saviour from sin,  down near this beach when I was twelve years old. JOY indeed!
You too can know the JOY of sins forgiven and home in heaven by faith it Him, today, read more here.

“He is not HERE! .. (+400th Snippets Playground - Wow!)

Hi dear friends... well, it the happiest day of the year today!

Today is Sunday, or in reality the Lord’s Resurrection Day... as it was on this day almost 2,000 years ago the Lord Jesus Christ was miraculously raised from the dead, a giant stone rolled away and He was seen in the next 40 days by many hundreds of people. There was among these folk, one of the very disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, who would not believe that He was risen, as He said!

Are we like that, I wonder!?

Let’s take a look at this passage.. from John 20: 1 - 21 , 24, 25

The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.

So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.

Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.

Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.  But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them,

Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

Thomas, today, is of course known as “Doubting Thomas”, and as we read these verses, it is not without good reason.

No doubt at that time, Thomas watched on in great horror at the slaying in the most brutal fashion of his Lord and Master. He was thus weak in faith and unbelieving. There is a verse Paul wrote, which comes to my mind when I look upon the sins of others..

It’s often paraphrased “There but for the grace of God, go I ..” or more properly, “..by the grace of God, I am what I am”  1 Cor 15:10

We are but frail, human flesh, God sees this frailty, and God does not judge us in the same fashion which we judge others

“.. for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but God looketh upon the heart” 1 Sam 16:8

But Thomas came to see and thus believe.

I think Thomas here is a living example to us all; for in some ways, all of us walk in doubt, despair and unbelief in different parts of our lives. Our loving Father God, He sees and understands.. and forgives us, WHEN we come to Him for forgiveness, as Thomas did.

Notice though... he was left in unbelief for EIGHT DAYS! Oh, may we not be thus in unbelief, unnecessarily. I wonder how Thomas felt in those 8 troubled, heart breaking days? .. what loss for us likewise when we wander in varying degrees of doubt, fear,  anger and unbelief.

“And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” John 20:26 - 29

Are we able to say like Thomas: MY LORD, and MY GOD?!

I pray so - LET US BE NOT FAITHLESS, BUT BELIEVING.

Especially today, as we celebrate OUR risen Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

“For He is not here, He is risen AS HE SAID”!

Praising Him, the Lord of Glory, Jesus Christ!
On this day when we remember the greatest gift of all, when the Lord Jesus laid down His life on the cross, shed His blood for our sin, and on the third day rose AGAIN!
... that we might by faith in Him, have life for an eternity in heaven.
Hallelujah!
How rich are we in Him! IF we know Him as our own Saviour! And one glorious day, HE IS COMING AGAIN.

Every blessing of the LORD, dear friends upon you and your dear ones on such a special day, Resurrection Day.
And one more thing before I close, I’m sorry this is long, but I want to share this card I made for a dear friend.
Am off to the 400th snippets here as it’s made from all snippets except for the base, the verse and image I’d printed out last year but not used.. so here it is!
A very basic card, the bird image is a disc. digi, the EF is one of my favourite for a simple card front, Embossaliscious Regency Swirls. The verse is a real favourite from Isaiah 25.
“For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.” Is. 25:4

Thanks those who’ve very kindly popped over to read this far and most of all if you have time for a chat, God's richest blessing upon you and those you love, and may He keep you all safe in His care.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x
