(Warning - photo heavy post)
Thought I'd pop in as its Wednesday (and WOYWW - link below) and share this new technique I tried, and I love it too.
Saw it with some of the Seven Cardmakers I follow, popped across to their post here and thought, “Wow! I must try it”.
However I used Gansai Tambi watercolours, not reinkers as mine are not nice colours to use, the few I have. It worked well with Gansai Tambi as they're bright watercolours.
One of the seven also used brushos, which is another possible alternative. Here are desks too… kinda step by step. The technique works but does take perseverance in getting black coverage, possibly due to my unfamiliarity with required sandwiches for varied 3D EF. Why can’t they be more uniform?
Do wonder if Versafine Clair (their recommended ink) would be better but doubt it, as newish Versafine Onyx Black very moist. Wasn't impressed with only Versafine clair I have for moistness.
Issues were:
1. Too slow in embossing (hence ink dried some). Had trouble with 3D sandwich as so variable + not used much.
2. Used Cuttlebug not electronic (more even pressure) as was too tired to change machines + they fitted c’bug.
I just did extra passes adding more ink on them. You wouldn't know it, but I used no pink on this first brightly coloured sheet I cut in two. I used purple, bright yellow and orangey red.
Didn't like the blue green one till added gloss mod podge. The folder took on too much black and lost colour. Gloss layer made it pop again.
Interesting re Gold and red ones, they were done also in black Versafine, then added gold EP. I'm not sure if this is Dry Embossing alone as added Embossing Powder but did use same technique.
It needed only one coat of versafine which made it much easier.
Like it better with black I think but is easier to make Christmas with gold, made two identical cards so far with a side panel. Nativity is Sweet n Sassy, sent from a dear sister (Marilyn) in Florida. Greeting a digi, of course reflecting the real reason for Christmas.
“The Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the World.” 1 John 4:14
Definitely worth a try and probably just ordinary EF would be easier as time to fiddle with shims was a real pain, and the folk on inspiration post used both folders..
Here's two bonus cards too.Vellum Lily of the Valley first one, second a wedding card. Mostly Disc products. or unknown. Now some Aussie photos. As it’s spring and very sunny Downunder (we are heading to drought again and fires are already here 🙏🙏🙏) here two beach photos on a walk last week.
I’ve been delivering bunches of roses and sweetpeas to elderly or ill friends, or family to bring fragrant cheer for them. Lost count of how many this one is in a margerine container 😂 with flower foam. Think is my best year for roses probably because I’m watering twice a week, sweetpeas are daily as winds are bad and drying. This last card arrived this past week to cheer me up, from our dear kind Darnell. It’s a keeper, it will go on one of my display boards in craft room. This is my new display board, as I’ve had a dear kind sister in LORD, also a crafter help me and we’ve made things together too.The two adorable “dumfings” are from Jo or Twiglet for our 2012 WOYWW anniversary.. here’s up close of them and overview of board. Our Shaz Silverwolf
💜 made the 2018 Crop memory board, and Neet my ATC folder at that crop too. And cos I love Irises, here's a bonus from a recent walk. Aren't they so beautiful, they reminded me of my friend Iris in Lincolnshire.
Thanks so much for popping over and saying hi, may God bless your day wherever you maybe.
Thanks so much for popping over and saying hi, may God bless your day wherever you maybe.
A special shout out to Cathy of Cathy’s Card Place north of here, who popped it to see how I was.
Prayer hugs,

Healthwise I’m a little better, especially as under a Dr who listens to me now, instead of demanding that my square peg system fits in his round hole. Many Drs don’t understand = listen these days and that was part of my problem the first 6 mths of this year. Also that my system is slowing up especially after heart attack 3 yrs ago.
I survive on medication, have since teens when diagnosed, and so it’s a constant juggling act. Without my wonderful God and Saviour Jesus Christ since I trusted in Him as my own Saviour from sin at twelve years old, I would’ve been dead years ago. (To read that story see here and also here)
When you’ve a life threatening condition from birth you have a totally different perspective on the brevity of life.
For what is your life?
It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time,
and then vanisheth away. James 4:14
Hi! Happy to see you!
ReplyDeleteI follow the cardmakers too, and want to try this technique!
Yours turned out fabulous!
Glad you're feeling heard, and a bit better!
Love all your pictures. We are moving into winter here!
Great news that you now have a Dr who listens & things are in the up.
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely things to see in this post.

Good to see you Shaz. Great technique with the embossing and fab cards as a result. Beautiful flowers for your friends and neighbours too. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #1
ReplyDeleteI loved the lily of the valley card, but not being a card maker, I had no idea what you were talking about when you explained the process. It was truly Greek to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm delighted your doctor is finally listening to you. That must be a godsend. Happy WOYWW from # 2.
Wouldn't know where to start Shaz as so much to take in on your wonderful post, but it is lovely to see you at Allsorts challenge this week, thank you.

WOW! You had great success with the technique, Shaz. Your cards are BEAUTIFUL. And I love the one with gold. I haven't tried any colour except black for the background, but now I need to ... because of your inspiring card! Thanks for joining in at Group of Seven. Also wanted to mention you have other lovely cards in this post too. All so pretty! And thanks for the pictures of the beach. We are just getting to the end of our worst fire season on record. So much devastation and so many people lost everything. Best of luck with your fires this coming summer!! Love, Loll
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. What a beautiful selection of cards. Truly creative. Ali x #11
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz, it's so good to see you here again, I was only thinking about you the other day and wondering how you are. You always have such interesting techniques going on. You sound positive today having found a doctor that listens. Loving the photos and the gorgeous flowers and pray that someone has the sense to stop these stupid wasteful wars. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x13x
ReplyDeleteSo good to se you here, sorry I have not been in touch, life is always talking over and some sad times this year again. Let's not dwell on that though.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have a new doctor who listens and understands, makes so much difference. Lovely to know the weather is so kind and you are happily watering the flowers in your beautiful garden. Some real beauties have come out of it to share with friends. I pray you are safe from fires.
(BIL is not too good, operation has brought its own problems so thanks for the prayers)
Love the cards you made, those bright ons are terrific. I can see what you mean about the gold though, much more suitable for Christmas. I've linked myself to the technique (thanks) and to your life story as well. Guess I had better get over there but it is just so heartwarming to see you back in woyww.
Blessings, Neet 9 xx
It's good to see you joining in today. Your cards are really pretty...well done you for mastering the technique. Stay well my friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Heavens! What a post. So much to read and see. Love the technique, and your samples look lovely. I, too, despair of the varied sandwiches. Lucky you found a Dr. who actually hears you. Your flowers (real and on the cards) must surely brighten the day of many - what a wonderful thing to do!
ReplyDeleteDashing around today as I try to prep for DDs birthday party.
Happy WOYWW Day!

Hi Shaz, glad you are feeling better, and you have found a doctor who listens. Your cards are beautiful as are those gorgeous flowers. I want to have a go at that technique. The results are amazing. Happy WOYWW. Angela #14
ReplyDeleteHello! Lovely to catch up . .
ReplyDeleteLove your cards
I've just tried this technique . . for an alphabet swap J for Joseph's Coat Technique. It took three tries for me to make a presentable card but it was a great learning process.
Great to have a doctor who listens and doesn't think you're a hypochondriac!
Enjoy your week

Wonderful cards Shaz, must have a closer look at the technique. Glad to hear your health has improved too. Enjoyed your local photos and gorgeous blooms too, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you visit. So many great photos. We are just into the FALL season temps 39 degrees evening 40 to 50 daytime. Leaves changing colors and I love FALL. Summer was lots of wind and dust limited rain so crops were a bit affected Glad you found a doctor...I too have issues with help, 3 yrs I finally broke down got checked out but no real help. I don't do medications. But weather is part of my issue. But thankful I'm old !!! just wish our world could find Peace.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Shaz! It's so good to see you post and read your email to me. I have been thinking about you and praying you are well. Your cards are works of art as always and the time it must take to produce just one always amazes me.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have a doctor now that listens to you. That is so important. As I age, the doctors seem to get younger and younger and sometimes don't seem to think we know anything about our own health. I would like to get off of some of the medications I now take, but need to lose some weight first. My doctor doesn't think I need to lose at all. He told me he sees people much larger than I am so not to worry about it! What?!
I am also praying for the people in Israel. Such a horrendous thing was is, but we were also told this would happen in the last days. I'm looking forward to the day when Christ returns. May it be soon.
Blessings and love,
Betsy
You’ve had a busy week with your crafting. I know that feeling of being too tired but determined to carry on. Lovely photos of your Aussie spring.
ReplyDeleteTake care and happy WOYWW

Your cards turned out just lovely, I too don't have many reinkers, mainly in black and brown. I agree that all folders do not go through the machines the same, it is a lot of trial and error for sure.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are so dry again and fires are starting up again, hope you get the rain you need soon.
Prayers that the doctors continue to listen and you get the care you need
How lovely to see your name on the WOYWW list today! I’m glad to hear that you’re doing ok and are happier with the medical treatment you’re getting, long may that continue xx. I LOVE the bright colours in your first three pics, that new technique is definitely worth the effort as the results are really gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHugs LLJ 15 xx
This technique looks interesting - I must have a go!
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely things to see on your post today!
The weather here in Victoria is not so nice - days of torrential rain!
Happy WOYWW! Susan #5
Dear Shaz..Thank you so much for sharing all your beautiful cards using our Group of Seven September Dry Embossing with Re-Inkers Technique. I LOVED how you used Gansai Tambi watercolors instead of reinkers. Your cards turned out beautifully. You were so generous to spend the time sharing the descriptions and photos of ALL your creative cards, beach photos and pretty floral bouquets for your friends. Hope you get to join us again...Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteYou really have made some amazing cards Shaz.. loving the end results, no matter how frustrating you found the making of them was!
ReplyDeleteWe are also due for a long hot summer - so sorry to hear the fires have started again this early :(
Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem, and the whole region - only God can bring lasting peace, as you well know. I am also praying for forgiving hearts (in both creeds) so bitterness does not spring up and cause further pollution when this is over.
Blessings
Maxine
That embossing technique is great fun - a surprise result each time. The Lily of the Valley card is delicate and lovely. Very nice for the vintage theme this week. Thank you for joining the challenge at Allsorts.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you tried out the GOS technique for this month, we all agreed with the fuss using the different EF some of the 3D are super thick and others not so :( You did get wonderful results and loved seeing all your other pictures ♥
ReplyDeleteFabulous card. Thank you for sharing at Allsorts Vintage week;-))m
ReplyDeleteBeautiful technique! Lovely results! My fav ink is Clair, I now use it exclusively, but I'm sure it's not right for everything. I don't like the smell of the Versafine ink. Stay well and happy, enjoy the Spring! My fav season. We are getting into Fall, and it's cold in the mornings now, today was 6°, Brrr! Have a great week, Lindart #19
ReplyDeleteShaz, the cards are lovely and good way to make them. I've not made mine like that lately. I might be with a friend who goes to a lady's house to make cards. Most of my cards I make are ones with my photos in a specific card! I am glad you are feeling better. I have been a bit of health issues lately but am still getting things done. More appointments this year than I have had for awhile. But God is always with us. "He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." Psalm 91:4 Hug and blessings, Becky
ReplyDeleteDelighted to see you playing with us Shaz! LOVE your work - the embossed snippets entry is absolutely fabulous! And great news that finally you have a Dr who doesn't think that one solution is right for everyone/one size fits all!
ReplyDeleteHugs

Wow, looks like you got decent results Sharon! I love all your panels, they look amazing! I really love the green and blue one, but I love those two colors together. The multi colored one looks like fire flames and is so cool looking. The poinsettia's are beautiful with the gold, but I love the black as well. All look amazing on your cards! Yes, I don't know why 3D folders all can't be the same thickness. It would make it so much easier if they were! The Aussie photos of the beach are so beautiful, the sky....I'm already missing summer here. Not looking forward to winter at all. Your flowers/roses are gorgeous! You make lovely arrangements Sharon and how sweet of you to take them to cheer people. You are a blessing my friend! What a sweet card from Darnell, love the colors and I hope that it helped to cheer you up! Love your display board, such a great idea, I'm sure looking at it brings you joy. Those irises are indeed beautiful, love the water behind them. A beautiful photo, beautiful flowers! I'm happy to hear things are a little better health wise and that your new doctor listens to you, not fitting your health square peg into his round hole. That is very important. I pray you continue to do better each week! The Lord is good and He will continue to watch over you until He is ready to call you home, which I pray isn't for a long time! Sending love, Brenda
ReplyDeleteFabulous technique and cards Shaz.. Love the pics'of your beautiful flowers..Loz
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see you in the gallery at NBUS, Shaz, and then what a surprise to read your post from top to bottom and come across my card! Thank you for sharing it and thank you for following our little Group of Seven and trying out the techniques. This technique was a bit fiddly and inky for me, but I love learning new things, so it was worth giving it a go. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cards and Aussie photos, too. I'm delighted to hear you have finally found a doctor who listens to you! They are like unicorns, aren't they? And, lastly, thank you for inspiring everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell (Sorry to be so late. I'm just home from travels and trying to slowly get caught up. It's good to be home!)
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is "WOW" Shaz! First of all your cards are amazing! I must try this technique. I opened the link and will have to play around with it (and buy a brayer first!) but it looks so cool. This will be especially nice at Christmas. Your flowers are beautiful too! And it's so very nice that you went around to give them to people to cheer them up. That warms my heart! As guest designer over at Word Art Wednesday this month, I just wanted to stop over and say thank you for joining us this time! I'm so glad I found your blog and will be following you now!
ReplyDeleteAmazing.

Hi Shaz, thanks for visiting my blog. Like you haven't blogged much at all this year. Health issues like you with drs that want to squeeze me into "their" boxes and if you don't fit you can't possibly be sick with anything. Mostly spent my time reading and sitting quietly or watching loads of you tube tutorials. Mind is active if nothing else is moving! Your floral displays are lovely from your garden. Hope your managing to fit all the right boxes now.
