Well here we are with another Lili of the valley Challenge (see here) , I am not very good at doing challenges but thought I would have another go… and when I read it I thought of my little man..called - Lazy Afternoon
I do so like him, I only have two stamps from the wonderful array at Lili of the Valley, one day will treat myself to some more but I decided to try this little man out in the watercolour paper, Distress inks with the watercolour pens I had seen on You-tube. Always fun trying out new methods and did it tapping the stamp pads on the acrylic blocks and mixed away with the brush as demo-ed.
Now for me watercolour paper is new medium too so it was new in many aspects, and the lady for whom this card was ordered was very, very pleased with it for her husbands 85th birthday too. I write poems for my cards as well and she was so pleased over all she promptly ordered some more cards.
I loved the way the shades of the paper picked up the Broken China and other colours of the distress ink ( I have a thing about stripes).

What a gorgeous card. He's my favourite LOTV chappie too and I love using him. You did brilliantly with the distress inks if this is your first attempt. You'll be hooked with this kind of colouring now.

The challenge is 'Anything but a Square' so I don't know where you got that from!!!????

ReplyDeleteI could see this has a square on it but the stamp is on watercolour in a circular cut out mounted on scallop and figured this would make it okay if you are not super fussy, and to be perfectly honest I did not really care about winning, I just wanted to use my man, and liked this layout with the dies I do have.. I dont think even if I kept the rules perefectly in every single aspect I would have a hope of winning all the way over here, so did not bother.

Hey Shaz love the card! I can see that it would fit in an anything but square challenge. I am impressed with the colors and the fact you stepped out of your comfort zone to use a new medium. Thanks for sharing with us. OBTW...on my blog you left a message about the hot knife...it doesn't get all gunked up because it is burning off as you go along. It cuts smoothly and doesn't leave little tags around. I use it for cutting anything that is difficult for scissors and won't ignite. paper will burn...learned that one the hard way. They are about $25 in the states.
