Hullo there everyone! Well, have had PanPastels, etc for while now but not used them with Versamark method. Had a new stamp from Hero Arts background arrived from voucher purchase (okay, spent double the amount of voucher, so that means three items were half price, right? ;D)
So inked up the Hero Arts "Classic Fabric Design" background stamp to have play with Versamark on regular card, and started to lay down chalks and pastels, as shown on Lindsay's blog here (I only did background she shows). You build up colours as you go.
Here it is at the very beginning. Used cottonwool balls instead of foam applicators with Pastels and chalks, as they would take the Versamark off.
Love Cottonwool balls have decided for applying these. Quick, easy, light and soo blendable, and cheap! as you can see decided to make another background, too, in blues. Have frosted Do-craft chalks, so used them with the PP, you can use most mediums with them .. have post on tips with PanPastels here, as found it hard to work things out when first started. Hairspray to set chalks - dust off excess first.

I used for both cards the Marianne Marianne Design Creatables Frames - LR0117. For first, the flower was
from Marianne Design Creatables Flowers & Leaves - LR0156, backed with
vellum coloured with PP, with small leaf swirl on both. Joy Crafts Vintage Flourishes
butterfly on second card, and coloured with Versamark and PP again. I have never had one of these Joy dies before, but they differ from earlier ones. They have easy release foam embedded on die and just a dream to use. Lace edge is Dienamics crotchet edge.
Here it is close up the verse was from Word Art Wednesday and love it! Used both these cards as Get Well cards for two ladies going through the mill and am sure the promise brought their heart great comfort to be reminded that God is our refuge in trouble:
"In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and His children shall have a place of refuge." Proverbs 14: 26

I would like to enter these in the following challenges:
1.Dis Schnippet's challenge ~ all Scnippets of cardstock and even verse was schnippetty too :D both cards
2. Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes both cards

Shaz, these are absolutely gorgeous - so delicate and subtle. I love the combination of the background with the frames laid on top. Lovely!
Thanks so much for your visit and your comment, and so glad you like what's going on in our new house! It's all tremendously exciting. as for stuff, I've got so much I'm wondering if it's all going to go in! It did all go in my old room, though, and that wasn't half as well organised, so I expect it will be OK!
Regarding the trees, now you mention it, I have seen gums in people's gardens - not very big ones, and certainly not the huge ones in forests in your pics!! I expect eventually they will escape from the gardens and populate the wild places like other non-indigenous species like rhododendrons.
Have a great weekend!

Have sorted out the linking Shaz! Both cards are now linked fine.
You've made two beautiful cards here - love the soft shades you used and such a pretty result. Those dies are beautiful and a very moving sentiment.
Writing the snippets post here so I'd better run away and get typing faster!
Hugs, Di xx
These are both quite gorgeous! I've been wanting to try pan pastels but it seems they are quite expensive in these parts. so I must wait until they come down some. Have a great weekend!
So beautiful! You are so talented my friend. These cards are so delicate looking.
You are indeed blessed with a wonderful talent.
Blessings,
Betsy

P.S. You are right about the linking thing. For some reason, you can't link two different cards from the same post. They'd have to be in separate blog posts to work, and I am sorry for that. I just LOVE having you share with us.
Wow, such gorgeous cards, I might have to get some Pan Pastels!
The reason I said limping is because I have cellullitis, it started last weekend, or that is when I noticed, and after two days on nasty antibiotic it spread and got worse. I thought I was heading for the hospital, but because it spread down not up I was given even stronger AntiBs which are one every 12 hours and told to keep my leg raised and rest. The infection started to respond a couple of days later and today looks almost normal, not been resting much today and it is hurting now. Started with an insect bite they think. I have had it before but other leg and it did respond!
Thanks for popping over.

Wow! These cards are gorgeous. Love that stamp. Those cards look super. Maybe I should dig my chalks out I bought at a bargain and still not used!

Hi Shaz, gorgeous card and I absolutely love the die you have used. I only have one Marianne design diecuts and I love it. Always soft and lots of detail. I am doing a Pan Pastel workshop in August and hope my class is as good at your cards. Lovely techniques and thanks for links.

ooh wow these are both amazingly beautiful! I must give this technique a try - I have just bought my first Pan Pastels. xx
Sharon, These are gorgeous! As always, you are such an inspiration to me. I have some of the PP, keep telling self, "Try 'em out", and on the shelf they still sit! Absolutely love that Dienamics border lace too. Beautiful. All of these!!! If you check out Jill Foster's blog, she has a very good video on using this technique as well. Can send link if you don't find it. Thanks for sharing some wonderful cards, good ideas with the cotton balls too. Hugs & Happy Sunday
ps..forgot to ask: Did you spray a 'sealer' when done? Tnx
Wonderful cards full of beautirul techniques and dies. Not to mention the verse.
I have some background stamps I picked up at a garage sale...I am going to try this out when I get home from England...I have chalks and versamark and cotton puffs...I am set! lol
Thank you so much for sending the toppers...I feel blessed. I send so many cards at Christmas and now I am making Christmas cards for some new immigrant families we help with Christmas hampers. The list just keeps growing!!! But at least they are ones I do not have to mail, so I can gussy them up as thick as I want and then tuck them in the hampers.

Beautiful Cards Shaz, so elegant!! Looks like you are an expert with the pan pastels!! I love the subtle colors!
Beautiful verse too!!
Hugs, Ginny
Hi Shaz,
Sorry I've been such a bad blogger the last few weeks and hands up and admit this is mostly copy and paste, but just wanted to thank you for your visits whilst I have been poorly and say hello, hopefully when we return from holiday I will back to normal - whatever that is !
And thanks so much for joining in at Stamping Sensations.

What gorgeous cards!! I just love the backgrounds you created!! So elegant and beautiful paired with your use of dies!! Thanks for joining the Shining the Light challenge at ODBD!!
Shaz these are absolutely wonderful. I must have a go at that technique. I have some PanPastels that I bought at a show about 18 months ago and have barely used. Must delve deeper into how you did it.
And that verse from Proverbs is lovely as well. I feel a spending spee coming up, I must get some more stamps and organise them properly so I know what I have got.
You are so talented, so blessed by Him with such gifts and you use them so well.
Hugs
Chris
Hi Shaz
Wow!!!
What fantastic results.
Great use of your dies too.
No Pan Pastels in The House of Hearts .. .. must have a try with them when I get chance. Too many lovely crafty goodies in the world at the moment and not enough pennies in the crafty purse!! LOL!!!
Hope you have a good day.
Love Jules xx
So beautiful! I had forgotten about this technique so thank you for sharing it again! Stunning cards, love them! Bravo!
Lovely lovely cards, Shaz! Gorgeous colours and a very elegant and classy take on our theme! Thanks for joining us at Stamping Sensations this month and Good Luck!
Shaz, your cards are amazingly beautiful as always. I love the colors you chose, they are both so elegant. I really love that butterfly...so delicate.
Popped over to look at another of your snippets cards and found this article plus the link to your other experiments with Pan Pastels - thank you Shaz! I won a starter set and not been sure what to do with them, or rather how to start to do something with them. I've bookmarked both pages so I can come back when I'm playing with my PP's hugs Karen
These cards look amazing Shaz...definitely inspired me to have a go at this technique.
