Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

WOYWW 7 + Scrappy Mo's Christmas card challenge!

Been a bit AWOL ... last week, internet was down for days so no WOYWW.
So here I am back for WOYWW 364 or What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday -
our SEVENTH anniversary
- WOW, indeed!!
Hosted kindly by dear Lunch Lady Jan (Thanks, dear LLJ!). Our wonderful Queen of Deskland, Julia, is having a wee break, before surgery. Each and every day, am praying for dear Julia for her surgery, + post surgery recovery. Please pray for her too :D for complete and full recovery.
Okay so you can see some Christmas cards being up-cycled today.. or last night.. Its the 25th so do pop over at Scrappy Mo's Christmas card challenge - aka Rudolph day (you've until 31st of May). You can see that have two old cards - one finished, making up the other. Trimmed down 'cos the sentiment was not very apt, + base too big anyway. Now very happy with them, two more done, so nice!
Not any atc's in sight but one will be made + posted within 24 hours, God willing.
Actually supposed to have birthday card made too ..  that's why there is aqua blue Cheesecloth at back right, it was tie-dyed - anyone remember that?? If you want details, will be shared on 15th June, once birthday arrives.
Adding a little DI Antique linen to the white digi Bible verse "Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift"  printed out ages ago. Mounted the tag with gold snippet with Kaisercraft labels die ... extended a tad. Added some red bling - here are the two cards below.

This card is totally made up of snippets. Joy Vintage Flourishes Butterfly, MB Whimsical flourish Swirl, stamped embossed mounted verse (SB Labels 11, verse stamp by Print Blocks 1994) were made for another card and rejected. Finished it for a dear friend's birthday on Sunday. Added lace from stash.
Now to Aussie shots... this is at a fav. spot, about 7 minutes walk from here. As you can see, it's a favourite walking spot of humans + seagulls... the silver gull below amused me as he was taking a paddle.. more than likely looking for sea worms, while the waves went in and out! as you can see by the subtle light, it is late afternoon.

God's creation truly is breathtaking .. our evening skies and lights on water have been so special in this autumnal weather we're having.
Happy WOYWW 7 everyone! courtesy of Nikki C

Thanks so very much for popping over!

Please say hi - to let me know you've been by!
May God bless your day wherever you maybe!

Christmas + Snippety Challenge and Inkadinkado Standing Seagull

Well, rushing in just before the end of June here with a post for Sarn's Rudolph Day Challenge which runs from 25th of each month to months end ..
I have been rather bad at making Christmas cards this year and so determined that would get in again this month even if it is last minute before the gates close over there .. thankfully in Oz we are 11 hours ahead of them so gives me bit more time. :D
Here are my two for this month as one of the requirements are that we make two. Tis one was in my Pinterest page,  pinned it from this blog here... this lady (Dutch so need to translate it) makes wonderful cards. Anyway as it turned out had five strips of the vellum already done in gold of this die- started with the vellum snippets (right card) first, then found some more gold snippets for second one.. various punches and dies used also, stamp is an Itty bitty stamp from years back. I like my Christmas cards to reflect the reason for Christmas somewhere hence "For unto us a child is born". Was good to dust this "JOY! Christmas tree border die" off, as had only made a few cards with it. But to be honest they take a while to cut five for each card and glue down - would not want to make half a dozen of cards with them.
This is the second of the five cards for Lee. I have posted the first one (a brayer Stampscapes card with interesting layout.. it was very popular, was tickled at comments) on post below. Decided to share them in bits, not in one batch as before - with details, will do combined post at end for summary.
This is similar to ones done before see here and was cased from Jobear's card ... here. Stamp is Inkadinkado Standing Seagull INKA-99205-DD wood mounted stamped on snippet of watercolour paper and Versafine Black + embossed. Used watercolour pencils and framed with with spellbinder circles, and coloured ordinary pearls with solver paint to match the embossed mock porthole. White core card was scored at 1cm intervals and distressed to give appearance of timber. The snippet at side was embossed in CB Bubbles folder.  Have used my Xcut scalloped rectangles to make a fine scallop edge. You have to shift them a number of times to extend the die, and only cut one side at a time, but worth it, I think. Maybe one day might shout myslef a fine scallop dies as seem to use them a lot! The knot is sailors knot and pinned it on my page see here. White string was snippet saved from parcel. Corners are a die cut up from set of CB Vintage corner dies.
Well, thanks so much every one for popping over for peek and chat and may God bless your day wherever you may be. Shaz in Oz.x

Hero Arts Versamark PanPastels + Chalk Background

Hullo there everyone! Well, have had PanPastels, etc for while now but not used them with Versamark method. Had a new stamp from Hero Arts background arrived from voucher purchase (okay, spent double the amount of voucher, so that means three items were half price, right? ;D)
So inked up the Hero Arts "Classic Fabric Design" background stamp to have  play with Versamark on regular card, and started to lay down chalks and pastels, as shown on Lindsay's blog here (I only did background she shows). You build up colours as you go.
Here it is at the very beginning. Used cottonwool balls instead of  foam applicators with Pastels and chalks, as they would take the Versamark off.
Love Cottonwool balls have decided for applying these. Quick, easy, light and soo blendable, and cheap! as you can see decided to make another background, too, in blues. Have frosted Do-craft chalks, so used them with the PP, you can use most mediums with them .. have post on tips with PanPastels here, as found it hard to work things out when first started. Hairspray to set chalks - dust off excess first.

I used for both cards the Marianne Marianne Design Creatables Frames - LR0117. For first, the flower was from Marianne Design Creatables Flowers & Leaves - LR0156, backed with vellum coloured with PP, with  small leaf swirl on both. Joy Crafts Vintage Flourishes butterfly on second card, and coloured with Versamark and PP again. I have never had one of these Joy dies before, but they differ from earlier ones. They have easy release foam embedded on die and just a dream to use. Lace edge is Dienamics crotchet edge.

Here it is close up the verse was from Word Art Wednesday and love it! Used both these cards as Get Well cards for two ladies going through the mill and am sure the promise brought their heart great comfort to be reminded that God is our refuge in trouble:
"In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and His children shall have a place of refuge." Proverbs 14: 26
Many thanks for popping over for peek, and even more if you stay for a chat. I shall endeavour to  pop over to your place, too. May God bless and keep you in your day, wherever you may be.

Nellie Snellen Square Stitch + Joy Christmas tree Die!

Okay, so it is not Christmas yet but hey, why not get organised ahead of time and here is lovely combo of dies embossing folder from Cardmaking Online. Please do pop over to our brand new blog ( click here!)and join and follow us over there as there is a great mix of skills shown forth!

So thought I just had to share. You know it is funny but photos never quite capture it do they?

First of all we have the classic Craft Concepts Embossing Folder - A2 More Dots embossing folder for the base of the card, with the lovely Joy border of trees down the side and the very versatile Nellie Snellen Square Stitched die.

The beauty of these Multiframe dies is that you can chose how much or how little to add or leave out - you can see very different examples on this one here and this one here!
To finish add computer generated greeting and mount on some matching card and ribbon.
Thanks for popping over everyone for a peek and chat and may God bless your day wherever you may be.
