Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

“Feedburner “ Expires - Changing to Follow.it Email Subscriptions.

New announcement- Notice to all who receive these posts by email:

The email subscription service will be changing.. again. 🤔😉

** I was going to go do it myself, but struggled to do on mobile, so after prayer, research, discussing with fellow bloggers, I’m changing to follow.it which is like feedburner, but apparently it expires at the end of June 2021.

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not wish to have your subscription transferred to the new service, follow.it, please discontinue your subscription by clicking on "unsubscribe now" at the bottom of any of the email notifications received from this blog.

I will do our best to transfer all legitimate email subscribers to the new service, but there may be some people who stop receiving notifications after changeover.
I have greatly culled the subscription list as there were unbelievably over 1,000 spam addresses.
If there are hitches in your subscription changeover, by my ineptitude 🤔🙏, please re-register in the "Follow By Email" section of the blog.
Thank you so much for your understanding.
Prayer  hugs, Shaz in Oz.x
EDIT: I’ve added the subscription link on top of sidebar.
For steps on how to do it for your blog, see this link here. https://follow.it/ni
*** I'm just doing basic plan, as that page says it offers a lot.
***Any queries or questions or issues, I’ve found that they're brilliant and reply promptly.

PLEASE RESUBSCRIBE - Emails of Blog Posts CEASE July 1, 2021

Dear friends, I am sorry for silence, just posting quickly to let you know that Blogger has decided to withdraw the EMAIL SERVICE by Feedburner.

If you get this post by Email, you NEED to resubscribe, by coming onto this blog post.

Especially as I’ve become such a erratic blogger unless you’ve subscribed you simply won’t know I’ve posted.

See the form at the top of sidebar of my blog (link here, if on mobile phone you will need to scroll down and select "View web version" at bottom of page) sorry it may take a while for sidebar to load fully, if on mobile device like me. 😕

There is the SUBSCRIBE BY EMAIL and Contact Me form.

Especially if you’re on outlook you will need to RESUBSCRIBE, by FILLING IN THIS NEW FORM ON TOP OF SIDEBAR.

I’ve at present 1,250 approx, supposed email subscriptions. I reckon at least three quarters are spam. About 75% are outlook with weird addresses, so I'm deleting them.

Outlook subscriptions need to resubscribe.

Please re-subscribe even if you’re not an Outlook address, so I know you’re NOT SPAM.

Thank you.

We have the month of June to sort this mess out! Not really happy with Blogger doing this, but since it’s a free system I’ve really no right to whinge. I don’t want adds on my blog, so choosing to do it myself. Most other ways involve adds or some such. To be honest I couldn’t figure it out. This is how Loll of “Stamping with Loll” is doing it.

I need to collect all addresses together, then set up free email account especially just for sending emails of blog posts and do a copy and paste of my blog post each time I blog, and email it off to you...

At least you’ll get them more quickly than when feedburner does it. That’s a plus. 😃 as I’ve two blogs I’ll have to do it twice.

My Christian blog however has only 25 subscriptions and I can be sure they’re not spam as know most of them. However put same link there for those who want to join.

BTW If you’ve a blog, then to check your subscription addresses you need to log into Feedburner. Use same email address and password as you use for blogger, as it’s owned by blogger. I just Googled “login to my Feedburner”to get in (update however this doesn’t always work, used below method lately).

********

Step 1. Login to your own blog account.

Step 2. put in actual address which is simply feedburner.google.com.

That link took me into the blogger account I was signed into.

Step 3. You have to select you blog name, which is hyper link there. Mind you it took me 20mins of searching to figure out how to get in!

Step 4. Then you select the “Publicize “ tab at top, and scroll right down to bottom of that.

Step 5. select “Email subscriptions” link. They then pop up then down below. (See also edit at end)

*****

So, yes, work involved but love blogging.

Just would that time wasn’t such a scarce commodity these days.

Nothing to do with me getting older or slower of course! 😂😂😂

Any questions, please ask me at the time of subscribing for emails, I will do my best to answer them. I’m no expert, my God’s a great help though.

{Edit, to clarify at the end of post}

And to close I thought I’d share just how good my God is...

Today I was in the computer/ craft room doing the bulletin printing for our church oldies group (yes, that includes  me 😉). Checking my mobile phone  calendar re pension dates, I noticed...

Eeeek! Monday 24th, I had an eye specialist appointment in half an hour.

Wow! My Dr comes up from Sydney once a month, you have to wait months for an appointment. They usually ring you with a reminder the week before, but were as it turned out understaffed, so zero reminder. I’d been away ten days, then full on weekend of family reunion, church etc. so it had totally fallen out of my head.

However, our great God is never understaffed, nor suffering with a vacant headspace, and He graciously made up the shortfall.

I was quickly ready, changed and in the car arriving for appointment two mins before due time! Oh, and eye condition is stable! 😄

As my dear friend, Maz, often says, “Ain’t God good!?”

May our wonderful Father God bless you and all your dear ones in every way,

Prayer hugs 🙏🤗 Shaz in Oz.x

EDIT - A SIMPLER WAY TO DO IT:

You really don't need to log into Feedburner if you dont know how or can't figure it out just do following.

Go into layout settings on the blog you have.

*Select add a gadget.

*Select add a Contact Me Form or whatever the contact widget or gadget is called.

*Write on it "Subscribe to new blog Posts by Email or Contact me"

*Add it to sidebar.

*Save email addreses into your email and send those folk an email to say you've posted and the blog link.  No need to copy and paste whole post if too hard.

So basically: 1. its add the contact me gadget.

2. Save addresses.

 3. Send an email when you've a new post.  No harder than blogging.

If you dont want to do it that's okay too..

Pop Up Slider Card + Blogger Tips + WOYWW

(Warning.. photo heavy post)
Hi there everyone, today sharing a blogger tip at End of this post - on how to link multiple cards from one post to any blog challenge site.
It’s Wednesday so time for WOYWW or What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday over at Julia’s at the Stamping Ground! To my desk!
Taken yest., about to start a Rudolph Day card, for Mo’s Christmas Challenge (here) that runs from 25th to end of each month. In centre I’ve a very pretty card received last Christmas for upcycle? Left a stamp set may use. Stamp and dies at back centre  standing up are waiting to be used. 😉
Far right is card shown on last week’s post (should be in mail). Under it, a pile of card bits left from making pop up Mario Kart card for very special 10th birthday!
Here’s the various stages of pop up slider card, I accidentally cut through too much but repaired it! 😉
To cut rectangle you use rectangle die BUT don’t cut one end.. misjudged, cut just a bit. But all fixed!
This is other side of pop up slider mechanism scored + popped up; always seem to forget one part in steps. This time forgot to put writing piece that goes inside before attaching to base. Oops! Removed from base and corrected. For previous tutorial with great video link see here.. on video the crafter eyeballs it ... no measuring! Love it. ❤️
Finished card... *flat, (partially 3D'ed the image, it's courtesy of Google)
and *close up (font used is Mario Kart font, free from DaFont site),
then *popped up.
Below is Rudolph day card, a very simple upcycle! (*flower on Rudolph card is a Waratah NSW floral emblem, Sturt Desert Pea below is SA floral emblem)
Now to Aussie shots, continuing tale of special folk in centre of Western Australia. *Skip these if like.
Called into Sandstone after had been out to London Bridge.
Apparently London Bridge was wide enough for a horse and buggy in years gone by ... I wouldn’t be game to walk across it today 😳 The mauve wildflowers added to the colour palate of the landscape... very pretty!
Set up camp between Sandstone and Mt Magnet. Needed to put on tea. 😋 Corn meat, white onion sauce, baked veggies... who says food on the road isn’t tasty?
Mt Magnet was much smaller than I imagined. It only has a population of around 500.
Next photo is out of order, from yest, these are Sturt Desert Pea, a stunning red bloom, the display went on for more than 20 km (12.5 miles)!! It’s spring wildflower time in WA.
***Apologies to Marit,** last week I commented on all folk, but her. I tried three or four different ways and times to comment, but Wordpress blog insistence that my comment was spam each and every time, even if edited altered comment, caused me to give up. Sorry!
Tip for Multiple Linking on Challenge Blogs.
I complained to Linky folk and received a simple tip to solve it. Seems to work on all variety of link sites
Card one do normal link for first link
Second card you just add directly to the end #3 if more do #4 #5 and so on for some reason you don’t do #2.
So mine would be:
Card 1 https://calligraphycards-shazinoz.blogspot.com/2019/08/stencilled-oxides-and-butterfly.html
Card 2 https://calligraphycards-shazinoz.blogspot.com/2019/08/stencilled-oxides-and-butterfly.html#3
And next one #4, so on, hopefully that helps solve multiple linking from one blog post issue.

Thought of Day:
Well, God bless everyone and thanks so much for popping over for peek and chat, may God richly bless you and those you love,
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz. Xx
Thought of Day:
This verse really encourages me to keep on keeping on, it WILL be worth it all. He fails Not. He picks us up when (not if) we do.

Blogger Tips on How to build a successful Blog

(Promised this ages ago, if looking for Beccy's challenge, et al. please scroll down, not far!)

I started blogging by accident in November 2010 (01.11.10), for my first post see here, I did eight months of blogging before jumping in so had some idea already.
Decide which format or platform you want to use, most crafters use Blogger and so I chose that over Wordpress, the other popular platform.
1. First of all -Name of blog.
Make it uniquely yours! Easily identified, see mine above .. it is easily identified, not generic name.
Also if possible have same URL as blog it’s very helpful!

this is mine, for Google search ease.
https://calligraphycards-shazinoz.blogspot.com.au/
If you change your mind later on blog name, it won’t be same URL, hinders google analytic searches.

2.  Search engine accessible.
Travelling around blogland these days, a lot of folk don't make the best use of how search engines work!! Using this knowledge in post titles they publish.
Key to being picked up in search engine searches is a good post title.
Look at this post title!
Blogger Tips on How to Build a Successful Blog
***First of all I do have a title.
Some folks dont even realise they need a post title.
No post title means every single post you write on your blog will have the same URL.

This will be come a problem if you want to join challenges, link over somewhere or send a link to someone for specific post.
**Give your post a GOOD title.
It is best not to use simply one word. eg birthday, it simply wont come up in any search, too generic.
THINK, ASK:  What might a search engine look for?

Or what might be put in a Google search?
Tips for blog post title:
A. Name of technique used or explored.
eg Wet and Dry Embossing on Christmas cards.
B. Name of key product used.
eg Lawn Fawn Gleeful Gardens stamp set - in 3D style
I think about what question I would put into a search engine when writing a blog title.

3. Blogging Etiquette - As much as able return visits, and if someone joins your blog don’t ignore them, welcome them and join theirs... if you can find who they are.
If you join someone’s let them know so they don’t have to hunt for you too.
Simple Blogging courtesy is the key.

4. Images: Use good clear images with simple, clear explanations ...avoid waffle. I’m going to talk in another post about images, photography tips, because image size is relevant.
(Am writing a post on how to take good photos so watch out for that one)

5. Blogger Tools - Do Use Them.
Use labels on your sidebar and key labels as top tabs in pages on layout.

As you'll see I've several top tabs. Home, Calligraphy, Christian, Tips Techniques,  etc. Labels are handy for quick searches.
Mine actually need a good spring clean.
Use blogger Gadgets and Widgets (in layout on Blogger) to add a Search bar, Follow by Email etc.

6. Open any link on post in NEW tab... please, please don’t take folk away from your blog by not doing this simple thing, ie a link opens in a new tab, not on page you’re currently viewing.
Blog Post explaining this - see here!

These are just a few helpful tips. There is much more could share as now been blogging for over seven years, but won’t take up any more time.

Just adding quickly to this ready post my challenge entry for Beccy's great blog sketch challenge. . here! My take on it below using one of Beccy's gorgeous nativity digital images, a pre-coloured one!
Not quite happy with it, but one more made! Yay!
Beccy's pre-coloured shepherd image, ink dusted the background did mask iamge but imperfect masking -> so hand cut another to over lay image, in my easy 3D style (see here), ta-dah! my take on her sketch, no altogether happy but it will do.
Enjoying beautiful weather down under .. a favourite beach north of here!

Thanks to all my wonderful encouragers on my blog, I feel very unworthy of all you kind folk who’ve joined and keep coming back even when I can’t visit as much as I have in past.
Do pray this post is a help,  will blog photo post soon, God willing. Promised someone these ages ago.
Prayer Hugs,

WOYWW, Open Link in New Window on Blogger, Masked Background Stamping

Well, a really great day here again.. 6:30pm as I write. This weekend was Uncle Ted's 80th. All the paternal side of the family were in town, what fun - lovely summery weather, too.
To my desk!
My desk this morning and really no more done on it. I set it up like this before went to bed last night as wanted to remind myself was was supposed to do today. The new Darkroom Door Gum tree stamp set (needing to cut it up hence the rubber scissors out) set from Bizzy Bec's, with Memento ink pads for sunset view with brayer background, hence ink blending mat, and gloss card.
Few points to note:
**brayer now is always stored in plastic bag as found little bits of dust would give imperfect brayer results
***never store it lying on the rubber - as you can get a slight flattening of the rubber. Hang from handle or store upside down. The completed PB card at the back on this post here.
A view you rarely see of my desk .. it is a standing desk, as like to stand when crafting, but as you can see do have a tall office chair to perch on when wanted. Covered this chair with old curtain material, as it was red - see post back here. Brown timber showing under desk at the back is fold up table (freebie). Have set of 12" x12 plastic drawers at left, a glass door cardstock cupboard (freebie) on right which has my rubbish bin on top with cutters and guillotine.
An addition to my post - as few folks dont know this, so thought would inform all WOYWW-ers in case you may not know this.
When you use a "link" widget in your blog (see above) you need to select the wee box under the link which says "open link in new window".
The reason being when you click on a link on your blog, without selecting "new window option", it takes the visitor away from your blog!
Annoying and negative use of your blog.

1. So go into actual post as shown above.. when you click on the "link" tab the link box comes up..
2. And under the link there is a teeny box -  to "open link in new window".
3. Click and select that box. It will stay selected till you deselect it.(Sorry if you know, but just helps those who don't).
A run of birthdays here, this was on my desk two weeks ago, a card for my friend birthday on Sunday too. Used Spellbinders Exquisite Labels 11, and the Nicecrane Rose image was printed up ages ago, cut with SB Labels 11. Greeting (by ODB Discontinued Mini tag) stamped in Versamark + gold EP.
Made these for some cousins at the weekend. So masked the circle off on each of them, then with Inkylicious dusters added colours by Hero arts, small cubes of Butter bar, Orange Soda, and Tide Pool. Oriental stamp by SU with Black Onyx Versafine + clear EP.
The Aussie shots of the day are down at the North Rock Wall here protecting our harbour and marina - on another icecream Sunday afternoon stroll, you can tell it is summer here still. If you are freezing still or in wet weather hope these shots cheer your day. We actually had an inch of rain overnight in a summer storm, but haven't had much rain so far for 2016.

I'm delighted to welcome new wonderful encouragers - from Darnell's 6 NBUS Challenge (see here) - Sharon of the http://frommycraftdesk.blogspot.com.au/
Neets of http://neetandcrafty.blogspot.com.au/
Laurie of http://stampingupnorthwithlaurie.blogspot.com.au/
Wow! these do some imaginative stamping and card making!

.... so do pop over to their blogs and give them some encouragement!

Thanks so very much for popping over!
Please say hi - to let me know you've been by!
