Bizzy Becs DT Reverse Silhouette Christmas card

Hi there everyone, Time for a DT post for Bizzy Bec's!
 And for the ANYTHING GOES NOVEMBER CHALLENGE

Today trying another new idea and was happy in end with result. Using Coloured Vellum and layered die cuts ... quick peek here.

Love making Christmas cards .. lots of exploring of new ideas .. rarely make large multiples.

Die cut multiples from scrap cereal packets cardstock, glued them together.

Then added a vellum layer on the very top.

Inked them up with inks as shown, but later added some shimmery water colour paints too. Adhered images to a die cut black oval of card.
... hence the silhouette in reverse.
Assembled the rest of the card.

WOYWW, Vellum Stamping +Pineapple Picking!

Hi everyone, as the days are rushing past in May.... 'tis Wednesday, again!

Here's my desky share for WOYWW or What is on your Workdesk Wednesday (over here at Julia's and please do join in, too!).
Two current desks to see today!!

Desk 1: More Romanian card work, made a little headway and made two of the dozen, then to right are the left over images, some with Romanian Bible verses on them and some print out of verses and greetings. I hope to have them done by end of week!
Mm, am realising this time next week I need an ATC or two made for then.
No inspiration yet but will come!! Can't rush these things. ;)

This is in centre of desk above (the scroll on right was a newly arrived CCD, took 47 days to get here! a record!). In choosing verses, I've picked ones that suit if one  knows the LORD and also those who do not. This one from Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding."  I was surprised at how long the name for Proverbs was, and mentions Solomon in it, he wrote most of Proverbs but not all of it.

Desk 2, in sunny spot (mornings getting cooler here) in dining room, on fold-up desk.
I'm working on a small text here, hidden so the person concerned doesn't see what it is. It's a small illuminated one. I've just finished layering the gold leaf, so the box on top of the text contains my sheets of 23carat gold leaf on tissue paper.
(you can just see a peek of vine work at right top end of box)
You'll see a small jar with gold metal lid to top right of text which is the Gilding size, which you paint on before applying gold leaf.
There's also a sharp pointed knife to right front for removing Gilding size + gold leaf from where it's not meant to be, some rubbers, small tiny ones for rubbing out small spots, these are next to Gilding papers.
Paints at rear are there, but I'm actually thinking of mixing some brushos to paint it with for new experiment!! :D Watch ,this space!

My card today was made two weeks ago but not shared, for a twenty first obviously.  Used a stamp (PSX from 1995), stamped it on Vellum with Versamark, gold embossed, and coloured it in promarkers.
Fussy cut around image attached to the Spellbinder Fancy Ovals, largest die cut with 300gsm card, softly tinted background while still in die.
Embossing folder background is Tied Together by Couture Creations, pearls added. Lace dies are from Our Daily Bread border die, coloured fine ribbon with promarkers and thread it through once dry. Greeting is a digi, with SB scallops, 21 is from Cuttlebug Olivia Die set.

 

Well we had a special ceremony yesterday... a pineapple picking one! Here is it a week ago when still not quite ripe!

You know it is ripe when you easily pull a leaf out of centre.. just like you test them in the shops and have a good smell test, too :D this one is not as big as others but smells super sweet the one behind will be bigger it grew during lots of rain.
Plant will sucker a new plant and old plant will die. This is the pineapple from a previous baby - I planted the top from it, next to original plant. Saving this top for BiL.

 Ending with two shots from my walk yesterday afternoon, another sunset, if had stayed another half hour would've been even more scarlet, especially with that lovely mackerel cloud as my dad calls them.

On the post below I've and new stamping technique called Retiform.. with some Darkroom Door Ste Sail stamps .. wow, love this technique will be doing it again!

Inspired By Stamping Guest DT - Double Emboss Vellum

Hi there, everyone! I am so excited today... my very first post for Inspired by Stamping as their Guest Artist for this month of May.

 I really want to thank Joanna for the honour of being one of her Guest Artists, and for the pleasure of working with her beautiful images + great quality stamp sets.

  My card today uses a technique, new to me, that I’ve called “double embossed vellum”, using two of Joanna’s stamp sets – **Australian Nature 1 and **Fancy Labels 3 Stamp set.

Use heavy weight vellum and dust anti-static embossing powder tool over the vellum. Next is the Versamark inking and heat embossing, with Mini Misti. 
Ink & heat emboss the Fancy Labels 3 stamp set – using the label stamp first. 
With Misti, line up the accurate sentiment placement, inside the label.

From the same Labels set (it has two greetings, which fit in the lovely frame) chose the thanks verse for inside the frame, test right spot with Mini Misti first.

TIP: Ink stamp several times with Versamark on each of stamped image for clear impression -> add gold embossing powder -> heat emboss.

Use Tombow watercolour markers in soft green and lemon, alternating the shades, colour the diamond grid pattern on the lovely frame. With Ranger Multi-matte medium glue put dots on the back of vellum frame. Glue the stamped coloured frame to some scrap white card. This gives a base colour and firmness to the translucent vellum.

Lay the matching die over the image, attach with repositionable tape, die cut in Cuttlebug, through both the vellum and adhered backing cardstock.

Next, after using anti static powder tool, stamp with versamark on same heavy weight vellum the Cooktown orchid image from the Australian Nature 1 set. Heat emboss with Gold Embossing powder.

I haven’t seen quite this way of double embossing that I can recall, but when I saw this image, I thought of doing this technique. I am using artistic license here, as the Australian Cooktown Orchid is a dendrobium variety which is actually purple-pink. However there is an Alba form of the dendrobium orchid, which is white with lime-green touches, so that’s what I chose.

Turning the vellum with orchid image over to the back, with embossing tool and mat start to shade in the flower image to give texture and dimension to the flower. I really do love my images to have texture and dimension.

Use both large and smaller ends of tool, with gentle, even pressure in circular motion to press vellum into image shape on shaping mat. Take care to stay within lines. Vellum looses its translucency with this pressure.

Because it is no longer translucent, the colouring will need to be done on the top. Use Tombow pens (olive green, soft green plus lemon) colour in areas of leaves and flower centres. Then with fine scissors, fussy cut the vellum with Alba form of dendrobium orchid. Take care to trim around outside of gold ink-embossed edge of image, use the ridge of heat embossing for your cutting guide.

I chose a soft green spot designer paper from one of Joanna’s lovely pads to match the colours, inked it around edges for highlight with ink and ink duster.

To assemble - add the frame and orchid in together, lining up for best balance on the frame. Attach the orchid image with 3D clear gel adhesive, as this gives great support. Attach the frame (and attached orchid) with mounting tape2, http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-going-dotty/, to the inked base of designer paper.

To finish off the card, simply add some of the very luscious ribbon with a bow from Joanna’s Vintage Floral collection. Ribbons match the pad perfectly; mount all this onto a base soft green cardstock from stash.

I have really enjoyed working with Joanna’s stamps. I’ve been stamping and embossing images since 1990, and these are really great, quality images - such a pleasure to use them. Gold Embossed Vellum with Butterfly Challenge - Underneath +Umber

Hi there one and all, well lobbing in for very very quick post, as over at Mrs A's Butterfly Challenge it is U is for Underneath and/or Umber!

Yup, it surely sounds hard doesn't it? But curiously, as was musing on it when I was doing something else, an idea flashed into my head! As is my wont when this happens, I scribbled a layout sketch and description on the back of an envelope. I have of course been totally flat strap with a list way longer than any arm, but pressed ahead on this at night instead of TV.

So here my "desk", or actually kitchen bench, dining room side. I was working on a "must do" chart for the church on dining table (only place it fitted) and this in between.

 I stamped two sheets of vellum with gold butterflies, laid out on Mini misti, sure makes it easier. They were small set by Kaisercraft and larger set of butterfly clear stamps by Stampendous, done in versamark then heat embossed in gold.
I coloured UNDERNEATH the vellum in two variations of colours, the UMBER, orange and yellow Tombows. The purple mauve and pink variation - I have a friend ( birthday 28 Feb.) who loves butterflies and purple. As I was colouring I thought I'd do the umber one into a sympathy card, which was of the Lord, as I needed one to give out this morning at church so it's already gone.

Here I am using PanPastels (Raw Umber) on the embossed verse by Stampendous from 1994, and price on is $14.95, which over twenty years ago was lot more than now. Curious, too, how varied the colour umber is according to whether it is Burnt Umber, Raw Umber or just Umber.

The verse is one from early 1990's Revelation 21:4

 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:"
 I stamped embossed it onto a snippet, the gold edges are snippets good embossed, and the SB Peitite Ovals are scrap cards also gold embossed.

Taken on our ice cream drive today, the one below is a close up, the beach on southern side is a dog leash-free beach ie unleashed dogs are allowed. How they love it.

Bizzy Bec's Anything Goes Challenge - Gilding Flakes, etc.

Hullo everyone .. another post for Bizzy Bec Online Store -  it's anything goes at the Monthly Challenge for July, 'cos June went in blink!

For the  "Anything Goes Monthly Challenge"  the winner worldwide receives either a die or stamps prize from Bizzy Bec's.. 

For my cards today I used one of the Bizzy Bec Card Embellishment packs

   all are 40% off ie $5.95!! very cheap.

This is no 11 Bizzy Bec Card Embellishment Kit. I made two cards out it, had already used some flowers on this card back here.

I decided I wanted to change the metal on this embellishment ... why? because I could :D I decided to use the only Gilding flakes I have (Egyptian Gold), very rarely used so looked up on You tube how to play with them.
Put a little of Gilding flake Glue on scrap paper, spread it gently out with make up sponge and applied it evenly over the embellishment.

Added gilding flakes and pressed them onto the embellishment well with fingers.

 

Burnished piece and put back into container any left over as did all this on a scrap piece of copy paper.

I decide to stamp with gilding flakes too (Used Pre-order Gilding flakes - Egyptian Gold). Had snippet of vellum sitting on my desk for ages.
Key note: if stamping with tacky Gilding Glue (Pre-order Cosmic Shimmer Gilding flakes glue) you must clean it off ASAP with a good stamp cleaner. I used kitchen detergent and Stazon cleaner mixed together. You apply the glue in same fashion with a sponge gently over surface taking care not to push into into stamp grooves.
The stamp is Darkroom Door Gum Trees set - With Sympathy stamp.

I 3D’ed the rose on this in simple cut around method (see here).
Popped it up with silicone glue.
You can see that started cutting it in top picture, but I hadn’t glued it then.

These are all items from the Card Embellishment set, including paper and die cuts, and Sarah Kay image, must confess do like these. I have scanned the image to make a digi for personal use out of it.

So two very different cards for one card set and loads more items left in the Embellishment set 11 with which to play :D
The Sympathy card is already winging its way across the sea to UK.

Colouring Dry Embossed Vellum, Snippets + WOYWW

Well, dear bloggers, another Wednesday rolls around .. wot, already we cry!! Suddenly today realised next month is the 9th month..eek! Christmas is coming, really need to get into those cards!
However .. good news to those of you who called by last week, in answer to much prayer, advice from folks + three days of searching on web (on mobile device, not computer) have stopped Windows 10 downloading without permission onto this computer.
Yay! It took nearly three hours of steps.  System restore first, to 27.7.15 + working in Registry which was tad daunting, triple checked all steps, have put links down below or see here EDIT on last weeks post. Conflicts gone (after only partial download) - have my delete button back and mouse works.

This is desk time of the week, Wednesday  .. over at Julia's for WOYWW or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. Two desks again today one this morning + one this afternoon.

Have to make some male cards (birthday and Father's day in early Sept. here) so stamped in Versafine black, embossed three pieces of the stamp by Our Daily bread called The sea. Also have some SU paper sample called High tide thought it would match these cards well. Card in top right is one shared below,and RosA chook stamp is here because am sharing the card I made to thank her for making it - also below.

Had coloured these three images last night with ink and coloured pencils. Saw on Pinterest an idea of adding sand, shells, etc to the bottom of this image. Hence why I extended the colour. Some beach sand, walked down and fetched yesterday, mixed with embossing paste. Added shells, tiny pebbles with Multi medium.

Back on this post here was the start of these cards. I embossed Vellum with CB Stylised flower folder, the coloured the vellum n the back with Promarkers, the ribbon wasn't right shade so used Promarker on that too. Verses are snippets sitting around for ages - on right is from Word Art Wednesday, one on left is from Our Daily Bread. I share it below.

My very regal chook, hand carved stamp from RosaA ... see this post here for the story behind it. It is stamped in Versamark +then gold embossed it. Made the simple card for Ros, when saw her earlier this month on trip to Syd for dr's. Die cut corners are from a square die piece in gold cut up (SB Fleur de lis) and Impression Obsession word die in black, with bling.

Wattle time! as it is almost spring downunder, different shades of yellow and lemon on the side road going into town, so pretty on the sunshiny days we have had. Also picked our first sweet-pea today, how I love them! God's creation such a blessing, every day!

Also makes my words below about the generosity and friendship of Blogland below, a little more poignant.
