Polished Stone Technique with a Twist/ Alcohol, Inks, Photo paper + WOYWW!

I found this idea on OSA (Oriental Stamp Art) for using inks, so thought I would have play.
Below is the original method - I changed it, using the ideas by Annette and mixed it with the plastic wrap post (back here for full step by step method, sent kindly by from Maggie Silvercrafter).

From Annette of Artneko (A.A.A) stamps:

*You will need:*

 Kodak 4" x 6" glossy cardstock or some glossy cardstock, cut the sheet into quarters.

isopropyl alcohol (ie Rubbing alcohol in Oz, could buy alcohol swabs, or your first aid kit, etc.)

cotton balls (cotton wool)

3 alcohol inks in the same family (shades of blue and purple...pinks, reds,and yellow...any colours will do)

Gold leaf or other metallic marker (optional)

Bull nose clip or punch clothespin (optional)

Latex gloves to avoid staining your hands for a week (optional)

Newspaper or protective covering for your work surface

Glimmer mist if you want sparkle to your finished background

*Directions:

Wipe an alcohol dampened cotton ball across the surface of the glossy paper.

Add 1-2 drops each of 3 alcohol inks.

Dab the cotton ball to fill in areas with color. Leave some areas white if

you wish.

You can also swipe the cotton ball across the glossy cardstock if you

prefer.

Add a drop or two of metallic marker to the cotton ball and dab areas.

Create several.

Spray with glimmer mist. (optional)

Allow the cardstock to dry; use bull nose clip or peg if desired.

Stamp as desired.

Did not have all the ingredients suggested by Annette so thought would use what I had, and see what happened.Here, in above photo, you see a sheet of photo paper wiped over with a cotton ball and Adirondack blending solution. I do have other alcohol inks but could only find the metal ones and a few re-inkers in dye ink.
Here I am using the DI Rusty Hinge and  Green shutters, with either gold or brass (?) in alcohol inks. 
Used the same plastic wrap {from this post here} as used on earlier piece to spread the ink around without getting inky fingers (which was Pink DI and Blue from SU, with silver), so some silver came on it. The small shot at the top was when it was wet. 
I had to put it in our drying cabinet to dry as it is too humid here even at this time of year, for this sort of paper to dry out otherwise.
On right is card finished as my father's birthday card.
 As with a lot of things I could not bare to cover up the gorgeous colour so left most of it showing.
Embossed the piece of photo paper with Tim Holtz folder, hence the distress look with it. Then mounted on and enlarged scalloped square black card.
Stamped in permanent ink un-named Tiger stamp (from USA, c.1990's bought in Brisbane or Sydney) on cork. It also was bought about 15 years ago, die cut with large labels, stamped "About Art Accents" signature chop to make it Oriental, with Oriental "AAA" happy birthday. Cut in black one of Spellbinder labels, and mounted cork happy birthday with black ribbon. Mounted on hand made paper [kind of cork looking] from the local beach-side markets.

Closing with floral bouquet from Oz , growing on the side fence is a less common variety called Jamaican Sunset of the Allamanda vine - this one creeping over from my neighbour's.

Upcycled Christmas Cards

Hullo there everyone!
Just sharing some more upcycling with you!!! First of all want to say sorry to all have not returned their comments too. Am very bad blogger. this going to be short post as wanted to share it but must not be on here too long.

Here is the card I am going to reuse from my Christmas stash of saved one of shop bought cards but could see a use for!

Here I am enlarging the length of my die which was not long enough for this card. Years ago I saw this on Ikki's Cuttlebug cupboard blog and have used it on dies and embossing folders..

 Recipe for card is the Hollies and Ribbons embossing folder some the new ribbon from Ribbon Girl on last weeks desk, and the Square spellbinders shown.

I have made two more since this one, I will photo and blog!
I am really enjoying it as it makes you think outside the square! {Oops sorry for bad pun}! plus not throwing things which are so lovely!

Dreamweaver Embossing Paste. Build it up!

Hi there everyone - well thought it about time to post some of these cards I have been making and these three are to go into Crafty Hazel's Christmas cards competition  which is called - build it up!! and for some of you who may have seen my WOYWW post of last week you will know just how I have started the first part of building up these three cards!

For those of you not familiar with Embossing Paste method check out my post last week where I explained with some tips on doing it and links to show you how it is done... it is fun! and Shazsilverwolf sprinkles glitter on it to even greater affect! This card uses the Dreamweaver stencil and paste and Labels 9 plus the Martha Stewart punch Layered Arches.

 The next card is done with a distressed Cuttlebug folder Christmas Holly Ribbons, a large one - really like them! It has the Martha Stewart Deco Shell corner punch, Nesties Scalloped squares, and Labels 3, with Daily Bread Christmas greeting.

The last card in this set for the competition is done with Lattice Spellbinders - and have extended it to three times its length by using Ikki's method, see here. I also enlarge my embossing folders in the same way, see this post here. Used Holly embossed vellum mounted on green cardstock, plus black card.
