I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

Welcome 2014! and happy WOYWW.

Hullo there everyone! Do pray everyone is safely over the Christmas season without too much pudding calorie gain. Not that I can blame it for mine as dont eat it.  :D  just a lot of other things. Now for those in the know this is Wednesday and we check out desks of the world - on What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday - courtesy of our wonderful Julia! (let's hope link stays this time, blogger ate last one)
Incidentally started WOYWW-ing first week in Jan in 2011, three years of desk viewing, with much learning!
Confession: not showing you the full view ... too disheartening NEED to clean up! Not actually been here to craft since before Christmas - family visiting and reading binge! Am over my fall early December too, apologies for absence since then, and thanks for all your kind thoughts, prayers etc. Good to be blogging properly again.
Above Desk left to right: Some bits was fiddling with to make Christmas cards, some cards made or two not blogged. I was able to craft a little but not blog, new stash from pressies. Was given some money to spend - the Marianne corner die + pearls are from Joanna Sheen, Couture Creations Tied Together folder, at great price on eBay here in Oz. Still waiting for two Spellbinders, slow post from US.
LEFT:  some inky playing, not blogged. Victoria embossing folder and some inky delight as shown. My sister wanted a house warming card in specific colours, so here 'tis.. she found the Bugaboo digital stamp.
Really pretty straight forward: some squares of embossing, had this lovely woven sheet in A4 which looked great, double mounted image coloured in with Promarkers, digi greeting in SU oval punches.
Lastly the pickie from Oz. Fig birds up in the palm tree eating the berries. {EDIT: Sharon in comment below mentions the red-eyed male fig bird.. if you look closely, the male with bright red around eye is in left background, and female in front}
We have lovely days here at the moment.. So blessed when so many are having terrible weather. Have a number of Christmas cards to share from some WOYWW folk etc and will share soon. Happy WOYWW every one and may God bless your day (and 2014) wherever you may be!
Shaz in Oz.x
PS my top five are down blewo.. joing up with Debby on that.
Also want to link this card over to the following:
1.http://pixiescraftyworkshop.blogspot.com.au/2013/12/pixies-snippets-playground-week-105.html
Miss Di of Snippets Playground .. as green bit was a snippet! as was cream image was printed on, etc.

Happy New Year Shaz! It's only 6:00 p.m. here in the western U.S. so we still have a few hours of the old year left. :-)

I pray that you have a wonderful and blessed year in 2014. I am so happy to have found you out there in the big bloggy world!
Blessings,
Betsy

Hi Shaz, Happy New Year to you and wishing you all the best for 2014.
I have also been naughty and not blogging much, although I am sure that not to far away I will back into the swing of things.
I am sure that the bird in your palm tree is a female Fig Bird, the male has a red eye, we also have them in our palms.
Take care

It's all over but the shouting in both Oz's (since MY Kansas Oz is from a movie), but it's not too late to wish you well this new year. You have some lovely cards, and I always love your various flora and fauna you share from YOUR Oz. I've never seen or even heard of a Fig Bird, so this was a real treat.

Best wishes for a healthy, artistic, and joyous New Year and Happy WOYWW from #5.

I to started WOYWW in January but two years ago! Maybe it's a new year thing
I too have a very full and messy desk, not cleaned or sorted it for months!!!!!
Don't get down, although I too was this time last year and it took four weeks to sort out what I wanted to achieve with my crafting but I did work out what I wanted to get from it and sent a e mail to a crafty friend with a list on it. Three weeks ago she sent me a e mail with the list attached and said ... I think you achieved everything on your list except the buying less craft stuff!!!!!

Happy New Year, Shaz. Trusting this will be a really special year for you with Jesus. What a lovely house moving card - great fun! Those birds in your garden are so attractive - and, yes, I found the red eye. We have very few birds yet in our garden - they all go to the neighbour down the hill who has a real passion for them - but in the field opposite we have hundreds if not thousands of birds. It is the original course of the river Conwy, so gets VERY wet at this time of year. Curlews, lapwings, waders of many sorts, swans, geese, and a nightly starling murmuration are all among our visitors - great fun to watch and listen.
Have a great week.

The embossing look lovely - and I am liking the look of the woven card too! Glad to hear you are recovering, and oh what I wouldn't give for a nice long reading binge. I go in phases - I always have a book (or three) on the go in various places, but sometimes I just sit down and read till I finish them all. And then start 2 or 3 more...

We used to have a date palm in our yard and I miss that! Sure we had to fight the birds for the dates but it sure beats buying them at the store (wow they want a lot of money for them!). Cute house warming card. Sorry the desk hasn't been in use too much but hopefully you'll get some chance to play soon. Happy and creative New Year to you!

Hi Shaz, Happy New Year and WOYWW! Thanks for stopping by so early! Sounds like you have problems too, hope you are much better from your fall. I love the card, and I was looking at your previous posts and your tip about embossing first then die cutting, I wish I could do this but the eBosser and the Big Shot both seem to cut right through even with the embossing mat!
The plan last year was to make loads of Christmas cards during the year from July onwards, and that didn't really happen, maybe this year. I should be thinking about Valentines now!

Happy New Year, Shaz, glad to hear you are better after your fall - that must have set you back a fair bit and you can clear your desk when you are feeling more up to it. I bet you did pay a small fortune for that much sought after Tied Together folder ... I checked the prices on Ebay and decided to buy Crafts-Too Lattice instead because it looks fairly similar. Your card is lovely and your sister did well sourcing that digital stamp - after moving house recently, I wish we could have picked up our home and moved it as in the digi. How much easier would that have been :) Lovely Oz pic - I do so enjoy them. Have a great week and a wonderful 2014. Hugs, Elizabeth x #79
PS: Hurrah! We have sunshine in Ayr today :)

God is just SO GOOD and I thank Him for sending you into my life through Word Art Wednesday. May He bless YOU for your sweet encouraging spirit.

Great looking cards and desk Shaz. I finally got around to making a jelly plate this week. Still haven't gotten around to playing with it. I combined your recipe and another blogs recipe and used 12 tbls gelatin, 1 c glycerin, 1 c alcohol, 1/4 c sugar, 2 cups water. Really feels hefty...hope it keeps well. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Happy New Years and I hope your holidays were all you wanted them to be. I didn't get to share on WOYWW this week but I am looking forward to a busy and creative new year and sharing it with everyone on WOYWW in 2014! Vickie aka Okienurse

I quite agree, it is good to be blogging again. It is good to be crafting again too, after far too long a break. I had a wonderful mojo inspiring weekend, courtesy of Clarity Stamp programmes on Create and Craft TV, and loads of chatting via the Clarity Facebook site. So, I desperately need to get right back into the middle of things to put my ideas into action. It sounds as though you are ready to really get going after Christmas. Hope you are well and ready for action. Have a good New Year. xx Maggie
