Hullo there everyone!!
I actually started most of this post ages ago now and never published it, but show you a bit of my "unchanged-from-last-week "desk just to keep up with the theme.
Those of you who were around later last week will know I have a wounded paw. After doing last week's post, I left for the skin specialist and came back with 5 stitches in right hand (skin cancer, an SCC)- :D They come out next Wed. then have to have one done on my foot.
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!
Finally did a brayer video (taken before hand was done)
CLICK on this post here from yesterday!
Showed the brayer backgrounds on last week's post, this is a crop of the desk shot last week. Same as I have not been in there all week to work due to hand!
Okay, so a while back now, the baking bug temporarily hit. I just had to make some of mum's scrummy Ginger Nuts, so I thought would share them .
If you like them really crunchy, the key to the crunch with biscuits is to leave them on the tray to cool and if possible for five mins in the open oven - if you cooking another batch obviously you cannot.
Take care they don't get too brown though. I like to make good dunkers (in tea of course) and they are certainly that! If you like them really gingery then put in two teaspoons (or more) of ground ginger like I do.
I have rather poor quality video of
our cheeky clowns of the garden (Rainbow Lorikeets - see also here)
taking a bath in our bird bath, taken the same time as last weeks photos. I thought of it after took the still photos, so they were nearly finished!
Poor quality because it was taken on maximum zoom with my camera, through the lounge room window!
Rainbow Lorikeet “Lorikeets are considered a small to medium parrot and range in size from 150mm (6") to 400mm (16"). The colour of the bird depends upon the species and the variation with in that species, however bright colours are common and popular. Lorikeets are one of the few parrots that eat mainly nectar and pollen. In Australia, it is common along the eastern seaboard, from Queensland to South Australia and northwest Tasmania.”

The observant monkey watchers among you commented last week that Deer Monkey, on the right, has his deer shirt on already. :D The WOYWW badge which he usually wears has been seconded by his monkey mate, Mechant, who is sitting beside him. |

Sorry about the hand. I am still waiting for them to remove mine (nose).
Love the brayering.
Cute monkey.
Nothing I love better than a good cookie recipe and ginger to boot, oh boy.
The birds must be fascinating to watch. It was so cute.

That is a beautiful scene, I will watch your video. I took a brayer class this summer, but have not tried it since then. Hope your hand heals quickly!
Fabulous post Shaz,
How cute is that Deer Monkey's shirt. I'm wondering if they do them in Shih Tzu sizes? ;D
Great recipe too...I love ginger nuts! So now I'll have to squeeze some more time to fit baking in too...ho hum...thanks Shaz!
I hope your hand heals quickly and isn't too much of a problem.
The video is great...we have the lorikeets visit and I actually had a Eclectus Parrot visit our seed block daily for over a week. If I sound like I know a lot don't be fooled I had to google it to see what it was called! ;D
That's a secret by the way!
Have a great day.

Lovely post Shaz, those pink brayered scenes really caught my eye. Hope your had heals well and heals quickly so you can get back to crafting again. Loved the video of the Lorikeets, amazing to think you have those visiting your garden. I'll pass on the cookies as I don't like ginger! The Hubby does, he makes his own ginger shortbread and puts chopped crystallized ginger pieces in them.
Hugs

Happy WOYWW. Hope your paw is not too sore - and you can get back to crafting soon. Brayering. I have resisted buying one, as then I would end up on the long road of trying to produce wonderful pieces of art like yours! Ginger nuts. I love ginger biscuits (they help with my nausea) and will attempt to make some. Parrots. It must be wonderful to have such exotic sights outside your window. We have rain/wind/mud. Monkey. Loving his jumper. Ali x #19

Sorry about your hand Shaz, hope it heals quickly. Your brayered cards are beautifully done, as is the video, easy to follow and I love the fact that you made a mistake and it came right - much more encouraging to me who makes lots of mistakes that end up in the bin.

Loved the pic of the lorikeets! So cute! Watched the video on brayering and think what I have been doing is trying to strong arm the ink down rather then letting it flow! grrrrr....I am going to try to make the ginger nuts in a gluten free fashion and will let you know how they turn out. Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Vickie #2
AM glad to hear that you won't be incapacitated for too much longer, but more than that, glad to hear that they deal with these SCC on the spot. Reassuring. Your ginger biscuits and predeliction for dunking in tea makes me smile - must be an English man in your history somewhere!! Monkey is bang on trend you know..I've been looking at gifts for men and these slightly daft jumpers are beginning to get trendy!
Great post this week so much going on, and a video! Love Monkey, I want one! I just have to put up with someone else's dogs and our lodger cat! Thank you for my snoop, have a great crafty week,

Hi shaz, hope your hand is healing nicely. Great post and I enjoyed, and took some inspiration from, your brayering video. I feel spoiled today because not only have a few of our very own winter visitors put in an appearance at the bird feeders but you've given us a peek at your Lorikeets too - love their brightly coloured feathers. Thanks for sharing. Hope you've had a great WOYWW. Elizabeth x #112
Oooo! Shaz!!! What a great post today (I am not saying that your posts aren't usually great mind!) Love the ginger nuts so will have to make those (our pineapple jam is all gone now :-(). What a beautiful card and those bird are just gorgeous. Our birds are nearly all the brown ones except the cheeky Robins! I have one with a dodgy leg sits on the fence as I feed my chooks, so I have to give him some corn now too or else he shouts at me!
Hugs and hope your hand is feeling good soon.
