Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Use Stencil as Embossing Folder + WOYWW + Mo's Christmas Challenge

Well, I made this card for Scrappy Mo's Christmas Card challenge aka Rudolph days on 25th of this month. Finally getting around to blogging!
Yup! been very busy.
As it is Wednesday, I've also a desky share - or What is On Your workdesk Wednesday.. pop over to our Julia's desk for the link up, at Stamping Ground!  although current desk is missing - submerged! Totally.
So sharing how I embossed my stencil to get look I wanted.
My seven year old bug in action here.
Sandwich is: B plate, a shim (shim = 2 layers of cereal box card), rubber embossing mat, cardstock, (light 160gsm), *stencil taped down (first one moved, cos didn't tape down), other B plate on top. Whatever embossing sandwich you usually use should be right.
Lovely - just what I wanted. Stencil is Stars one by Memory Box. Seen it still on eBay but maybe disc.?
The regular visitors will recognise my die from last week. Wanted to make this card - the plan was to batch make, but no, not done. Which is shame as already want to remake this card, will do in time. Using Golden Glitz by Delicata to sponge over whilst stencil is still attached. Yummo!
.. thinking about layout.. had this digi verse by Karen Murray's Christmas set from Etsy in mind (does verses on WAW, too, for free). Should have turned card on side but for some reason didn't think of it at this stage. Little star from centre of this die fitted star on her verse perfectly. Layered up star, 2 white layers + gold card. Do love dimension! Finished card is below with close up, too!

To the Aussie shots! our garden at the moment is a picture spring is really coming, but oh! we need some rain. Had 1.5mm this month, 10.5mm last month, July. You can see the grass is looking dry. Don't water it, but do water plants - the roses are bursting out the back yard! This is the orange Birdsong Grevillea, which birds do love, and white leptospernum, or tea tree common name.
Birdsong was almost decimated in a wild storm last June, 2016, thought it might die, so prayer was made ... It has bountifully sprung back to life... a picture of God's regeneration work after pruning and regrowth appears a lot in spring. Good and needful also in our lives but hard. These storms do draw us closer to Him though, so make it worth in the long run!

Thanks so much every one for popping over for a peek and chat!
May God bless your day wherever you may be.
Will do my very best in commenting, and truly appreciate your visits more than words can say. (as it is now nearly 10pm here wont get it done tonight - tomorrow is more appointments, including dentist, and craft shop - meybbe! :D)

WOYWW + Bugaboo Moving House Digi + Birthdays!

Hi everyone, days are rushing past in August, not blogged much of late! Trying to do catch - longish blog post with pickies. Wednesday here! its time for WOYWW or What is On Your workdesk Wednesday.. pop over to our chief's desk for the link up, at Julia's Stamping Ground!
To my desk:
Well, in between cards here, things hidden on left, then centre baby cards are being ready to do stamp on back. Lovely star die was bought on sale at only craft shop within coo-ee, about 30 mins north of here, when visiting the dental specialist. That was expensive enough but treated myself to this.. marked down, so makes it okay??!! :D plan is for some cards for Rudolph day on 25th.
This is a set of five magnets, from eBay in China site. See here - Have to pay a very little for postage, but he packs them so well. The metal tin + foam padding is what they came in! Thought some others might like to know too.
Work so well with Mini Misti, which I have and should work with regular one. It's hard to get such magnets here in Oz, especially in the country where I live. The photo below shows up close how it looks, and it doesn't have tape on it. Put tape for leverage. They're not quite as thick as the circle magnets which come with Mini Misti but almost the same, about 1mm difference I'd say.
This card is shown step by step on this post here. However, changed it .. from hugs to a special birthday card.. now know what was led to make it these unusual for me colours, it was perfect for my aunty whose birthday it is next week, she loves burnt orange. Numbers are CB Olivia die + this Birthday die..
This is not good photo, but sometimes that happens.  DI tissue paper backgrounds, except I stamped on this with Background stamp French script. Happy birthday Marilyn!!! tis 22nd still in USA. Used MB die Blushing Flower Branch, *CCD for bow die, Elizabeth crafts HB die, a top favourite of mine!
Card for my niece, she doesn't look at my blog, two young lads, so no time! though not mailed it yet, its fine to share it. I love the Bugaboo Digi image and have used it a few time for a new house. Used some of gorgeous background woven mat for background bought in the big smoke when there with RosA. Dies are SB for oval, and Dienamics for rectangles. LOTV New home stamp.
POWERFUL Owl - in our local Botanic Garden, there is nesting pair there but they're not sure where the nest is, this fellow was asleep as twas day time :).
Australian Bush orchid growing in rocks in Botanic garden they normally have them in orchid house but it is being rebuilt so they've put them in suitable locations in rocks, they are attached underneath so as to prevent removal.
Taken yesterday on my walk by the creek. The sun was setting .. at foreground you can see some mangrove bushes, they only just started growing in this more open part of the creek which is quite interesting. I love paperbark trees - they have amazing texture, that is it, the melaleuca in foreground

Distress Inks + Sizzix Thinlits Mixed Media #2

Hi there friends! time for another DT post for Bizzy Bec's Online craft store.
Here's a peek...

Time for inkiness again.
Items used - all are Pre-order from Bizzy Bec's!
Distress Inks
-Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Dried Marigold, Cracked Pistachio, Fired Brick

Tested this die combination on a scrap cardstock before launching into my good cardstock, to get position and size correct. Then marked it on the main card piece with pencil, and rubbed out later.
Using the Distress inks as listed above, smooched them generously over the water colour cardstock do more than you think you'll need as I had to re-ink it. Then spritz the back of paper with water so it stays flat, while you add water and glimmer or shimmer mist to top of ink. allow to dry.
Flatten inky watercolour paper, as it buckles. May put a telephone book on top, if time to wait, or run through your die cutting machine with embossing mat which is what I did to flatten it.
Now working on top sheet for card I wanted some light spatters so decided to use my brush and ink mat for this stage. Same colours used and light spatter was tested first on scrap trial run, I am pleased thus far .. this floral die was one I thought I wouldn't use in this set, but like it after all. :D
Layering up hugs die three hugs, from scraps + double sided tape, used my usual system of adding layers while still in base sheet.. to keep it all in place.
Finished card - popped it up on foam tape, added pearls as wanted them to compliment the shimmery card stock on base. I'm not an orange girl at all so quite new to be liking such card colours!
Hope you like it too!
Now don't forget to pop over  HERE at Bizzy Bec's and check out the other DT gorgeous creations, and please do join in ANYTHING GOES AUGUST CHALLENGE - to win that prize.
Pop by Bec's store, too, for her great bargain prices
.

Also wish to apologise for tardiness in commenting, been VERY busy here, see below! garden time! Winter rapidly passing into spring means many jobs to be done .... as you can see it is almost drought-like here, not much rain at all grass etc suffering, so we're mulching well indeed! Done back yard, but now need to do front!
Pineapple patch... our large pineapple is growing and almost full size. The plant in front is sucker from plant behind, just transplanted two weeks ago. Has a baby coming already, just peeking out...
Thanks so much every one for popping over for a peek and chat!
May God bless your day wherever you may be.

Bizzy Becs August Challenge DT post + Annie's Smiles

Hi there everyone .. well, this is take three on my card today!
Talk about making a mess .. getting nowhere fast!! yes, that's me!
So for DT piece this month it ended up being a Christmas card, not quite planned, but ... not that bad really, as I really love these new dies used, + also my easy-peasy background - huge rescue when others failed.
To the card.
Items used:
(maybe available upon request to Bec.)
Also used SB Petite Ovals and scalloped ovals
Versamark and silver EP
How it was done?? Look see ...on my desk was this scrunched up inky tissue I'd used to wipe up distress inks on my ink mat at some stage.
I know used Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire + little Firebrick Red. Glued it to a piece of card and squashed it down, wait till dried.
Then rubbed it over with Embossing buddy, my home made one, stamped it with splatter texture stamp from Darkroom door in Versamark + Silver EP, heat set. Its really shimmery but none of photos show it up! :(
Then did some die cutting, background in largest pierced SB Rectangle, then silver snowflakes with Lawn Fawn stitched snowflake die
..Ooooh, I love this set I bought from Bec!
Stamped greeting ODB  "Joy to the world" and cut it out with SB Petite ovals.
Close up... this looks like  salt, doesn't it? but in reality shiny silver!
Mm, not bad after all, I've decided! have enough to make another card for background from the tissue!
Those not from Australia probably wont know what this is!! its a Cycad! a giant cone!! really big, has seeds in it the vibrancy of the red in the seed is to be seen to be believed, no photo does it justice... we went to Botanic gardens today and saw quite a few things which will share in time.

Well, that is it for me today because it is really Friday still parts of in the Northern hemisphere I will link this up with *Annie's Friday Smiles too, as some might like to see the Cycad ...
Oh, and think I need one of these signs for my craft room! like one too?!
