Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

WOYWW + Ink Resist Butterfly Card

Mm, been bit absent, but here today for WOYWW or What is on your workdesk Wednesday over here ..at our Julia's of the Stamping Ground!
Am praying along with lott of other folks for Gods blessing upon our dear head desker's health in the days ahead.
To my desk this morning:
Desk as left last night, sometimes set up my desk for next day at night when I've an idea in my head and want to get a head start on it. You can see I've butterflies on the brain! First effort will be binned I think, back left masked piece. (What I did not realise was that the cheap sponge sticks I used to add ink were going to disintegrate whilst being used with DI. Result: teensy splotches from bits of sponge detritus all over it..) Over at Mrs A's it is R for Recycle (hence the ice-block cardboard box) + R for Ruby Red.  needed an encouragement card, thought this would be good way to make one. Have ink blocks lined up at front of desk with Stampendous butterfly clear stamps on them. There is also  Kaisercraft set on desk too, a long narrow set.
I stamped them in Versafine black onyx with clear EF and coloured with Tombows, adding some red with blending pen to begin developing background on panel, yet to finish it.
A run of butterflies indeed! this was NOT going to be a butterfly card, but daisy card. After doing the ink resist background (SU French Script background stamp, Versamark with clear EP) with Kaleidocolor Riveria ink pad, however, it took a totally different tangent. Took out dies MB Vivienne butterfly with MB Nottingham Flower border instead, added sequins and pearls. The verse "With God all things are possible" is a Print Blocks from 1990's. Snippets used on this card.
To the Aussie shots now:
As I go around the water and land I notice there are often odd combinations of birds that work together. A good lesson for us I think, and this pelican and silver gull seemed to have a good understanding, tolerating one another.

This was a spot where people launched their boats for fishing on the creek, and the creek flows out to sea not that far upstream. I think these two were hoping I had some fish feed on offer as no doubt fish are cleaned, etc nearby here.

Thanks so very much for popping over!
Please say hi - to let me know you've been by!

Thanks for the pelican photos. I remember how excited I got when I saw pelicans in San Francisco as I had never seen them before. Love to look at them and to see them like you do must be wonderful.

Hello Shaz. It seems like ages since we last "spoke"... Sorry. I love that butterfly ground you are in the process of making - and am SO glad the daisy card turned out to be a butterfly - especially poignant with those words. Who would believe a caterpillar could turn into a glorious butterfly?! You make the most lovely cards, Shaz - well done.
Take care my friend. God bless.

Your butterfly panel is so cool, looks like you have a very nice collection of butterfly stamps :) I love the softness of your next card with the embossed text background, that is just lovely, it's great when you had something else in mind but the card just evolves the way it should and turns out so nicely.
Love the pics of the birds hanging out together :)

Both cards are so pretty Shaz. Butterflies are so amazing to me. Delicate and yet fly on the breezes. And that verse is one of my favorites. We could, indeed, learn a lesson from your bird shots. Calmly, patiently, working together in life. The world could use that lesson.
Blessings,
Betsy

Many of us have butterflies on the mind today! I love your resist technique- sorry about your nib causing blobs too. I love the Ruby Red color on your butterflies. My imagination is finishing your card with a scripture sentiment : ) Oh, really love the butterfly on the 2nd card with the subtle color and resist, love the border die you used and really like the addition of the Sequins and pearls. Love your bird pictures too- wonderful! Have a fab day : )

Beautiful bird pictures!

Love the butterflies and lovely cards made with them. When he was little my son loved butterflies. So much so that he dressed up as one for Halloween. He does not like to be reminded of that now!

Beautiful butterfly cards, Shaz - the red background, and the card you made from it, is stunning. Really lovely work.

Thank you for your two lovely comments on my blog and I'm glad you enjoyed having a look around. I haven't done any art for ages - too busy and now too tired. Another busy week ahead next week and who knows when (or even if) I will get the time and energy to make my hubby a birthday card - it's his birthday on Thursday!

Happt belated WOYWW,

Both of your cards are beautifully done. I especially love the one with the die-cut butterfly. The design just flowed wonderfully with the inking and stamping. We are blessed that you link with our Challenge at Word Art Wednesday and inviting you to join us again in our current challenge. Leaving you with the encouragement from God's Word in Romans 15:5-6 which tells us, "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." Have a great Memorial Day weekend.

Blessings,
JO ANN
