Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Happy 5th Birthday, Princess Emily + WOYWW

Well, I blinked... and it was Wednesday again, no wonder I feel like I have lost September, let alone August.
I read something on a blog that shocked me into action .. some rumour that it was 11 weeks to Christmas. As that was some days ago, I am guessing it is less than that! So my desk today sees the remnant of what this shock caused me to do, to make 18 Christmas cards in two sittings.
For those not in the know - it is time for What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday over at our Queen of desks - Julia.
So at front is tape, a die on left which I didn't even have any intention of using! Two Christmas stamps, one needing cleaning, one unused, on right are the off-cuts from the cards, centre back are sequins for shaker cards.. hint eh?
Cards not in sight 'cos they were out to be photographed, they are for DT posts next month, and multiples of similar cards.
Monkeys there as usual waving hi!
Now Princess Emily has her card, so I can share it with you. It is a trifold card. I did some research on Pinterest and made a board of castle cards, as Emily was having a princess party for her fifth birthday. This card was a combination of cards from my board. The template was here on this site - but adapted it. The base of card outline was scrap card then printed off sheets of dusky pink to emboss and use for walls so had enough of the colour (scanned sheet of light pink I had in stash. I knew wouldn't have enough of it as it took quite a few A4 sheets).
Inked up TH Brick folder with grey ink before embossing to define outline of bricks. Did same with woodgrain for the door, and roof with CB bubbles folder. I took the image from her invitation to the party. Some close ups below. Greeting was a digi, and extended a SB greeting die. Added bling all over.

Now to the photos of Australia - quite a few this week as was out at my sisters on northern beaches.
The view from verandah. You go down grass reserve, onto the beach. I share this photo to show you how far out to sea the horizon is and that is where the last two photos of the whales are taken. The roos (kangaroos) are to the right under the trees, not in this shot, and the surfer is in middle front.

It is migrating time, this is a mother whale, front and behind is her baby they go north in winter to have their calves then head south for the summer, these two were heading south in very leisurely fashion, came in quite close and playing by diving and flapping the water and blowing also! Took a shaky video (no tripod- on maximum zoom of x24 optical) and if I get my act together might upload it to You tube. If I do I will let you know.

That's me for today, I should not be on here as it is...
hugs and God bless you all,
Shaz in Oz.x
PS In answer Nikki's question below, we are not near the bad storms, thankfully. They are down south, in southern NSW and Victoria, and I am praying for them all.

"Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: He is their help and their shield." Psalm 115:11

Hiya Shaz, hope you're feeling a little better - it's nice to see you crafting away merrily again. I do love that princess card, I'd rather like one of those at the grand old age of 55! We're never too old to occasionally feel like a princess eh?!
Gorgeous shots of your part of Oz, we were fortunate to see Humpbacks up close and personal when we visited Harvey Bay all those years ago :-)
Hugs, LLJ 12 xxxx

Well first of all I must commend you on the card for the little one. I can understand her family wanting privacy, never sure about kiddies photos on the internet. Good arguments from both sides. Back to the cad, it is a wok of art and a keeper for sure.
Thank you for the scenes from your sisters - what a wonderful place she lives in with those views. What a great photographer you are and such a wonderful travel agent you would make. You certainly entice me to visit - it only health and age were on my side.
Hope you are gaining in strength day by day.
Blessings, Neet 1 xx

Hi Shaz, love the castle card. I totally agree with her parents- in fact it shocks me just how many people put pictures of their children all over Facebook- do they seriously not realise just how easily those images can be 'saved' then uploaded anywhere else? Adore the scenic pictures as always, what a glorious part of the world you live in. Have a great week, hugs, Shaz #8 xx

It's always shocking how quickly Christmas comes around after the summer holidays. That card is awesome! At first I thought it was a life size castle! Very pretty and girly! You live in a wonderful part of the world, Shaz - where else would you see whales migrating? Hope you have a good week! zsuzsa #22

Hello Shaz. I Love the creativity you put into princess Emily card....the brick really gives it the old world castle feeling. How great it is to see the whales in all their glory and glad you are not to close to that storm coming. Oh my I really didn't realize Christmas is only that far away and I do hope I can get some cards done but if not I guess pulling out those store bought ones in storage will just have to do. Thanks for visiting me earlier and have a grand week crafting. Hugs ~Anne L#7

Love the castle card. 3D is always a hit with the youngsters I find. I feel quite jealous of those gorgeous Australian views; our nearest beach is miles away and the sea never looks like that! Sarah #39

it's worse than you suspect Shaz, I had a birthday card ( sent for my birthday in April) arrive in our breton hamlet last week, so i had better get my christmas stuff mailed out pronto...saw some sequins on an earlier post too, hard to avoid during the tinsel times of christmas preparations eh?

Awesome fancy folding on this sweet special card. Enjoyed reading the creative process, and how clever you were to use this template combined with the themed birthday invitation. I bet Emily loved it! Creating the extra c/s as you did, brilliant idea. The gray brick emboss shows very well. Always enjoy the superb pictures you share. What a gorgeous day you had to photograph these amazing scenes. TFS & Hugs too.

This castle card is gorgeous! I have earmarked the link for the design and templates. You did a beautiful job on this castle and I totally understand about privacy. My daughter and son-in-law do not let me show the grankids faces on my blog. Shots are carefully taken from the side or the back!
