Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

The Lord Jesus Gave for us His very all. Do we?

All of Me (Our Daily Bread - here, on Ash Wednesday  2017)   Bible Passage is below - or here
Young Isaac Watts found the music in his church sadly lacking, and his father challenged him to create something better.
Isaac did. His hymn “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” has been called the greatest in the English language and has been translated into many other languages.
Watts’s worshipful third verse ushers us into the presence of Christ at the crucifixion.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
(... sorry, somehow there is a jump-break inserted here and cant remove it! If you cant see "Read More..." EXCELLENT! but if you can see a break.. please do click read more)

The crucifixion Watts describes so elegantly stands as history’s most awful moment. We do well to pause and stand with those around the cross.
The Son of God strains for breath, held by crude spikes driven through His flesh. After tortured hours, a supernatural darkness descends (from noon till 3- here).
Finally, mercifully, the Lord of the universe dismisses His anguished spirit. An earthquake rattles the landscape.
Back in the city the thick temple curtain rips in half. Graves open, and dead bodies resurrect, walking about the city (Matt. 27:51–53).
These events compel the centurion who crucified Jesus to say, “Surely he was the Son of God!” (v. 54).

The Cross reorders all values and cancels all vanities,” says the Poetry Foundation in commenting on Watts’s poem. The song could only conclude:
Love so amazing, so divine demands my soul, my life, my all.”

It is our privilege to give everything we have
to the One who gave us everything on the cross.

INSIGHT:
When the Lord Jesus Christ hung upon the cross, cosmic events accompanied by signs and wonders occurred between heaven and earth. A supernatural darkness came over the earth midday. Many theologians believe that for the first time in eternity past the fellowship between the triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - was interrupted (when Christ cried - "My God, My God why hast Thou forsaken Me?").
As Christ took our sins upon Himself on the cross, His Father could not stay in fellowship with Him.
An earthquake opened the tombs of some Old Testament believers, who were brought back to life, in the city the very thick temple curtain separating ordinary worshipers from the Holy of Holies rips in half..
So dramatic were these events that even a Gentile, such as the Roman centurion who oversaw Jesus’s crucifixion, made a declaration of faith.

Matthew 27:45-54 Jesus Dies on the Cross

45 Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”[a]
47 Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah!” 48 Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink.
49 The rest said, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him.”
50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
Thanks to all you dear friends who come over to my blog .. I have faced this week the passing rather unexpectedly of a dear one, in my dad's family.
May we all be ready for the call when it comes, as we none of know how long we have!
May we be able to rejoice in the truth that Jesus did not stay dead. He vanquished death! When He cried:
"It is finished !"
Christ finished the work of salvation upon the cross for you and for me.. may we look to Him alone to be saved - TRUST in Him (as the card above says), may we be able to sing this song with all of our hearts.. Life is worth the Living .. just because He lives!!! Amen! hallelujah!

Oh sweetie, how appropriately and beautifully were these words written. I read and absorbed every last one, with thanks and a humble heart, knowing that I did not deserve such a ransom to be paid, but that He gladly paid my debt. I'm so thankful for our Savior this day and during this holy season. I pray a special blessing for you for sharing this truth with the world. May the God of all peace comfort your heart as you rest in Him. Hugs, Autumn

Thank you for this most beautiful post where you put into words all the things I'm not eloquent enough to say. "When I Survey" is my dear husband's favorite hymn. He has asked me that if he were to go before I do, that it be played at his funeral. I believe that if people actually stopped and thought about everything Jesus Christ gave up to come here to earth and lower himself to the status of mere man and to endure such torture all for us, more people would turn to him. I hope you have a wonderful weekend celebrating the resurrection of our dear Savior.
Blessings always,
Betsy

Wow! This is a well written post. When I survey is one of my favorite hymns. Reading your post and remembering the things that happened on the day Christ was crucified, I get goose bumps. We are so blessed to know what our Savior has done for us.

Such a beautiful, sweet post. As always you point to Jesus our Saviour. He gave His life for us and we often celebrate Easter without really considering the price He paid. Thanks for bringing us back to the real true meaning of Easter. You are such an example of one who reflects His love. Hugs.

Thank you dear Shaz for your post which reminds us so much of what we need to focus on each and every day. I was discussing with ourson yesterday how we should celebrate 'easter' each and every day. Praise God also for the giftings He has bestowed on many whose hymns, teachings poems etc touch nations many years later. His Word will never be 'old fashioned' and is as relevant today as ever it was in the beginning. Thank you for sharing it with us Sis. xx

My sweet and dear friend, Shaz, you are so beautiful and such a precious friend! I loved reading each word you wrote about this Easter post and the amazing hope we have in Christ's death, resurrection, and defeat of sin and death for us who believe in Christ alone. It is rarely noted that the Father had to turn His back from Jesus as He bore our sins and died....what true suffering that was...and it was for us. May we continue to remember and respond. I so love the great hymn by Isaac Watts with such rich and beloved words. Thank you for sharing your gift for His glory! Much love, precious sis! xoxo
