Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Baby Shaker Card + WOYWW

Hi there everyone.
Wow, a new month! I lost August I’d decided when I was still writing July on dates in fourth week of August! šŸ˜† Once the first “ember” month is here, the year gathers momentum even more and licketty-splits along! It’s Wednesday so time for WOYWW or What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday over aJulia’s at the Stamping Ground! To my desk:
Yes, mid-creation again. A baby shaker card, did it once before about four years or so ago. It looks like multiple cards are on make, and you’re right. It’s an ultra special card, and didn’t quite crack first pass to my satisfaction, so reserved it for prototype and a generic baby card.  On left is lovely SU paper disc., was 12 x12”. Managed to scan it and print off an equally good copy (after arguing with my newish scanner for 1/2 an hour). Rest is usual scissors tape, open drawers exploding into workspace.
On far right is this! which just arrived in mail from US, a card colouring topper to colour, isn’t it lovely? Love that verse .. from a FB Christian Cardmakers Group I belong to. Will be doing it after calligraphic piece, which is next on agenda, if time permits, as have a “must-make” list.
Problem is this Memory Box Die was made by a non crafter... or so I think. šŸ¤” see that cute little coat hanger for the baby suit?
Well, it’s attached to Die, not detachable and the cause of my grief  in troublesome die cutting of just wee suit for shaker part. I did attempt when last used it to remove it but impossible.

Here’s the finished first card. It’s a welcome for little Baby Oliver Charles. He’s named in his second name after his great grandad, my darling dad, who passed last August. So very apt little Oliver also arrived in August.

You can see the middle one is shaker section then two regular triple mounted ones on either side. The Baby Die is Nellen Snellen. Greetings etc are digis, and Kaisercraft label on bottom.
A4 EF is Crafts-Too, called “Dottie” I love it, and works treat on my newish electric Couture Creation machine with B plate and base sandwich. Didn’t like recommended sandwich, this works best IMHO.
Aussie photos are local, just skip if you like. Haven’t had time to copy up the family current outback trip.
First are two sea photos clicked when good swell, on walk end of last week.šŸ˜Š
Next is in frontyard, Birdsong (Orange!) grevillea, White Leptospernum, (or tea tree) in full flower for spring.
The next is backyard, a callistemon (Mr Foster) or bottle brush, with a rainbow lorikeet who was playing: “You can't see me?!!”
Last two on walk yesterday.. love second one with elkhorns on trees, and evening light.
Well, that’s it today, pray you’re well, and every blessing of the Lord wherever you maybe.
** Especially praying for Bahamas and the assault of Dorian, the (thankfully now lower Cat. 2) hurricane is now heading up US east coast.šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz. Xx
Thought for the day:
Well, you may not know but I’ve another blog over here and the latest post share the background of this beautiful hymn. Truly there is no other Friend so true as Jesus!
He never fails and He understands us like no one else does. In time of need He is there, I know the Lord Jesus is the only reason that I’m still here!
Linking up:
** Snippets of all sorts used on this baby card, all white except base and stripe was original 12" square piece used "sticky out  bits" (am sure that's a crafter's termšŸ˜‰) to neaten it up for scanning.  Off to playground yay! http://pixiescraftyworkshop.blogspot.com/2019/09/pixies-snippets-playground-challenge-360.html?m=1

Hi Shaz, love how the shaker card turned out, despite the faff! It's funny how different machines vary so much in pressure, I agree. My old 'Bug had some definite preferences to what it was supposed to want, lol.Lovely scenic pics, and the Lorikeet is so pretty. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X

Aw, Oliver Charles, what a lovely tribute and in August too. Love that! Gorgeous card, worth the extra work although I take your point about the die, not always as useful as they could be with their accessories!! Lovely ph d of dori b coming to the trees, such vibrant color, lovely. Be well, lovely Shaz.

Good Morning dear Shaz. What beautiful cards today. Well, you always have beautiful cards, but I love the verse on that one. Bless the Lord, Oh my soul and all that is within me praise His Holy Name. Amen and Amen.
And that baby card is just precious. Such a sweet, sweet card that is sure to be cherished.
As always, the photos of Oz are stunning. I wish to live so close to the ocean, but that is not where the Lord has planted us. So I visit it whenever I can. I had to really hunt for the lorokeet.
Wishing you a most wonderful day my dear sister.
Blessings,
Betsy

The Baby shaker card is adorable, and I love the colouring in topper you were sent - it is one of my favourite Bible verses too. Loving your photos of Oz. Wish I lived near the sea as I so love swimming in it, but being in a landlocked city I have to make the most of our little river! Happy WOYWW. Have a lovely week. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#12)

I'm sorry that you had to cope with recalcitrant (love that word!) dies but wow, it was worth it, those little stripey babygros are just brilliant. It's a really lovely card and one that I would buy for a newborn :-). Well done on wrestling with your scanner too, victory is yours, woohoo!!

The baby card is absolutely beautiful and must have been a bittersweet make for you with so many memories of last August. What a lovely tribute for baby to carry your father's name.
Lovely mail from the US which I am sure you will enjoy when you get around to colouring it.
Thank you for the local photographs, always something good to see where a friend lives, especially if they are from a different part of the world. Think I have left it a bit late to visit family in Oz so I rely on photographs fro friends and family. Thank you so much Shaz.
Blessings to you

Ah lovely Oz photos - we had a bottle brush bush at our old house. I posted a, what is called here a large letter, to Oz this week. The economy post (up to 84 days!) cost just a few pence less that the standard post (7 days) so maybe that's where we went wrong earlier in the year. It is such a costly expense but amazing that it can get round the world for that amount really I suppose. xx Jo

Hi Shaz,

Many thanks for your visit today but sorry to hear you had problems, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to Mac's, hubby uses one alongside his PC and seems to get them to talk to oneanther, but I'm quite content sticking to my desktop PC, I know where I am with that.

Lovely creations as always and the baby one is a delight, as are your photos, I always enjoy seeing such different landscapes and blooms, huge contrast to the UK.

What a lovely post, Shaz. Your baby card is just adorable - such sweet little baby suits on their hangers! That will go down a treat, I know. I always love to see your Aussie pics. You live in such a beautiful place. I love to see where you live. The tree with flowers is stunning, and I just managed to spot the colourful bird! We don't have anything like that in the wild here - our garden birds are quite muted in colour generally. Where we live, we mostly get seagulls and they tend to scare off the smaller birds. They are noisy too! Funny to think that you are now coming into your spring Down Under.

I love that hymn - so true! Lovely to see the verse over such a gorgeous picture. I'll hop over to your other blog in a minute and read the story.

Thank you so much for your comment, and sorry you were experiencing some computer problems. I really appreciate your prayers. It's now a waiting game to see if my application has been successful. I am not sure I've got either the energy or the courage to pursue it further if they turn me down, but I'm trying not to think too far ahead of myself for now!

I'm sorry you have so many digestive issues. A great friend of mine had terrible problems, with IBS, leaky gut, GERD and more. She saw a specialised natural dietician who put her on something called the low FODMAP diet (not quite sure what it entails but it's some sort of exclusion diet, I believe) and after many months of work, she is now healthy, and eating a full, varied and healthy diet, and even her depression has cleared up. The gut is centrally important for our health, and has a direct link to the brain via the vagus nerve. It's often called our "second brain." Also our gut microbiome is vitally important not only for gut health but for our entire health in general. Over the past year I have learnt a lot and have embarked on such an exciting journey. I am gradually getting into more of a routine with my food prep - to start with I was wasting quite a bit. The freezer is gradually filling up because each time I cook, I do enough extra to freeze, for days like today (Sunday) when I've got to get lunch on quickly after church. The next step forward is to get a new fridge with more room!!

Thank you again so much for your continuing prayers, which mean so much to me.

God bless you Shaz, and happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #17

What an adorable and very special card Shaz. And how lovely to name the baby with a second name the same as your Dad's. I've been musing about the die and wonder if they thought there's less chance of losing the hanger if it's part of the main die? I'm assuming they cut out the onesie and the hanger separately. It's a bit like the star on the prize you won - I think they felt it logical. Weird though.

Hugs
