Well, if you look at my desk below today you will see it totally devoid of craft items, as all have been packed away.. Shock! Horror!
This card is a gorgeous owl one for a friend of mine who adores Owls. It will be the last card for a while. I simply must devote more time to my calligraphy. I love the Stampin’ Up papers I used with this card. Also one of the new items at Fat Cats, Borders1 Nellie Snellen Multiframe DieSet 028 I used on this piece, as well as my Nesties of course, and a very cute owl brad which I had. The stamp is clear one from eBay coloured with Promarkers. (Lisa says below it an Inkadinkadoo owl - thanks Lisa!)
As you can see I have nearly finished Morti’s mother’s piece which is the small piece in the blue oval - I have yet to do the gold work and re-ink it. You can also see some Copperplate practice as thanks to a UK blogger I have found a great calligraphy Scribbler's site in UK (through Kathleen’s blog - do check it out, she is new-ish to WOYWW! :D) and I have bought some “you-beaut” Walker's Copperplate ink, Leonardt EF Principal nib and Character original White paper. I am so inspired by my improvement with these new tools to get into some extra practice! We are doing copperplate this term at calligraphy classes, but I have been very disappointed by my attempts until now!
The Walker's ink is black gall ink and it really reminds me of the ink we used in grade 3 at Primary School. . When I was eight years in Grade 3 the school I went to still used ink and dip pens. I used these tools with Spencerian (a type of Copperplate) for a year until we moved and then I had to totally change my writing style as they were using very modern Cursive in my new school. I had to forget all I learnt with first script. I so wish I had not lost the use of that copperplate which I learnt for one year only. As a result my "not too nice" writing is nothing like either styles at all!
The large piece to the left on my desk is an order and is inked in ready for laying down of colours, I have done it before so did not have the struggle of planning the layout. :D It will hopefully be much more advanced next week.
We have been enjoying (?) flooding rains which closed the Coastal highway to the north and south for day or so, with a tornado decimating a small narrow strip of buildings in small coastal town north about 40 minutes. I am very glad to see a little sunshine today. The coastal low pressure has moved down the NSW coast to wreck havoc down south, our seas are very big at present. I went for a walk to check it all out!

Well, I am off to sticky beak around other desks as the rest of the world catches up to us in Oz. If you are curious why we do this, please do call over to wonderful hostess’ Julia’s blog and check it all out at the Stamping Ground.
May God bless your day wherever you may be, and happy WOYWW!

Beautiful card Shaz and I look forward to seeing some more calligraphy gems too. My old inherited treadle machine is still in the garage and I agree that it is so therapeutic to use.
I really hope that you PiF arrives soon..... I have a history of long delivery problems as our sorting office is quite militant, often going on strike. They had one in Feb and a parcel to Germany took 3 weeks and one posted days later arrived within 3 days. If it doesn't arrive I'll send another!

Lovely to see something so different today - and hope you enjoy spending more dedicated time to it. Yep, the weather over here too swings on a daily basis between spring, summer and autumn!
Wonderful calligraphy! I woul love to learn some but I don't think I have the patience. :)Happy WOYWW!
That little owl is very cute, he looks so sleepy and relaxed. Your calligraphy work, as usual, is stunning.
Beautiful owl card! Calligraphy has always intrigued me but never gave it the time it needs to learn it. My daughter does beautiful work and once in a while I can entice her to do some for me! Thanks for sharing! Vickie #46
The commenting thing is a bit of a nightmare at the moment! Very hit and miss I find!
Have fun with the gorgeous calligraphy work :)

Looks like another lovely verse is on its way to being 'calligraphised' (Yes, I think I made that word up)! I can't wait to see it when it is finished! The cards are pretty, too. Best wishes with it all!
God Bless,
Sarah
Of course you would want to devote more time to your calligraphy it is so beautiful it deserves more time.
Ooooooooooohhhhh - Mum's piece is looking lovely Shaz!!! You're such a star...
Shaz, beautiful work as always. I'm curious with your layout do you first write the text then trace the outlines for decoration?
Your Owl card is lovely the brad is the perfect finishing touch.
The Copperplate is looking great too :-)

Love that owl card. I have those brads too. Now you have given me some inspiration - Thanks. Don't know how you can be disappointed witj your calligraphy lately - from what I have seen they are simply stunning. Hubby bought me an old fashioned feather pen ready for when I get time to learn calligraphy - one day maybe and seeing you is making me want to all the more!!
Love your cqard and the little owl brad is too cute for words. Hugs Mrs A & Monkey. #98.

I love that Inkadinkadoo owl, Shaz, it was one of the first stamps I bought and he looks gorgeous on your card.
I'm not surprised you are devoting more time to your calligraphy, you do the most stunning work.
I don't envy you that weather at all, it sounds awful. Take care

Love your owl card Shaz, and that owl stamp is really cute. I learned to write with pen and ink too. We had little ink wells in our desks and I got to be ink monitor and go round the class topping them up. That was in primary school. Once we went on to secondary school we learned to use ballpoint pens - I never liked using these and to this day still prefer a fountain pen with blue ink. Have a great week, Elizabeth x #79
Wow, lovely stuff on your desk today Shaz! I love the Owl card. I'm a huge fan of owls and would collect them if I had the room in my house. The calligraphy is awesome. I think I'm going to have to learn how to do it!!
That owl is so cute ...great card. Wow your calligraphy never ceases to amaze me.
Lovely owl card, the borders are so intricate:)
Hi there Shaz, thanks for popping by, I've been tardy in visiting lately as so many things are going on this month! I shrunk the ellies by stamping them onto shrink plastic with stazon and using a heat gun to heat, they curl frighteningly but shrink to about a quarter of the size and become nice and solid.
I do love your calligraphy, such an amazing eye for detail, can't believe you're still taking classes, looks like you should be giving them! I just read your second comment on my giveaway post and had no clue what you were talking about until I re-read the first post very carefully!! How I'd missed that I will NEVER know, but boy did that put a smile on my face! Nice to know what you really think of my blog, lol!!
Hugs
Brenda
Your calligraphy looks stunning! Well done!
