Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

What is On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 138

(Anyone who has not joined in this Blog's candy, please click on the side bar )

Hullo everyone. Here we are, another week is screaming into view and we are halfway though already! So tis time for WOYWW or What Is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. So do please join us at Julia’s wonderful blog of the Stamping Ground to peek at the glories of desks of the world!
Now the point of my first photo is not to totally throw you – but here is a mess! Yes, the reason for the pickie is really to clear up this deception that the fine folk of WOYWW seem to have - that is that I craft very neatly

Week after week the kind WOYWW-ers say how neat I am - but I am not! I make a mess. However because this is the dining table it is cleaned up very frequently – and this is not today’s desk as it is like Old Mother Hubbard’s cupboard - bare. I am supposed to be starting a piece of calligraphy (print out of test layout on right side of table also) as the card I was working on at this messy desk is finished but cannot be shown yet. It is under the piece of blank paper in the lower right. As you can see have been playing with my Spellbinder Fancy Labels two above this, plus my Martha Stewart Scoreboard which were used - but none of the ribbons there were used. Amazing how much stash you pull out and discard.

Now for a sea view of the ocean, about 7pm I was walking along North wall and marina the other day when the weather was fine. As you will see on my previous post it is not the way now. The hills you see faintly in the dusk-light background are leading to the Great Dividing Range which is the backbone of the of Australia. It follows the coast up and down almost parallel to it – and it is really raining over that way. It is flooding over there too, and up north especially south east Qld again, as described in previous post. It happens frequently there so they are well prepared. God willing we will escape it.

May God bless your day wherever you may be and thanks for popping over for a peek and chat!

Shaz in a very wet Oz. x

PS. for those who like the brayered lavender piece on last week desk it is on the card below this post. Lunch Lady Jan commented on the piece before it was made into a card :D

OMG! Wednesday again! I forget that you are across the date line and therefore a day ahead! I will get it together and get a post done. I keep telling my DH to get a speaking job there so we can come for a visit but he isn't listening this year! Hope you have a great week and the water goes to the coast and doesn't flood you! Vickie

I have to admit that it's nice to see some mess for a change! I'm glad I don't have to use my dining tables, I'd end up eating from a tray on my knees which wouldn't be good! My own desk is a bit neglected this week, in favour of those socks again!! well, I just set up my WOYWW post and thought I'd check in with some of the Southern Hemisphere peeps before the rush tomorrow!

Hugs
Brenda

I am with Brenda on the dining table thing, no one would ever be able to eat there! Laps it would be! But then again, Julia is using hers as a desk...LOL.

Hey there, Shaz - we'll be the anti-growing up club, shall we?? Lol!!
That's a beautiful photo but you wouldn't automatically recognise it as Australia - we're only shown the bright, shiny shots here :)
And I still love that lavender card, it's beautiful. Funnily enough, I trimmed back the lavender bushes in my garden yesterday. I grow them to harvest the dried lavender later on for lavender bags etc!

Hello Shaz, so refreshing to see your desk in the pre-tidy-up state. As you'll see from my blog, my desk has been neglected and static but I'm back and raring to go this morning. Elizabeth x #47

Glad you are like the rest of us really!! So glad I don't have a table to work at that I have to clear to eat from... working on the floor has some advantages then! Love the photo, what a gorgeous sight - and as for the card in the post below, it is stunning and a beautiful sympathy card which as we know are very hard to get right.

Another table of indeterminate purpose..... mine is tidied away most days so we can eat on it and then piled back on to again afterwards, except when I really can't be bothered in which case we have a treat dinner on our laps :) One day we will live by the sea! lucky you

You look really busy and please don't make us envious with that gorgeous harbour view. Just not fair when I am sat looking at my damp grey slightly muddy garden!

I try to be a neat-crafter but got quite bogged down yesterday with such a MeSs and found it all too stressful ... must learn to just go with the flow and not worry about my scissors being in exactly the right spot ALL the time!
Fabulous workdesk Shaz ... looks like organised chaos to me and I LoVe your little WOYWW card on its own little easel ... it is becomming a game each week trying to spot it! Love Debbie #67

Hi Shaz, those views look amazing i hope the weather doesn't cause too many problems, my son spent 6 months in Darwin in 2010 (he loved it) and told us about the rain storms they get, he was volunteering at a school and the children used to paddle and swim in the puddles that formed within minutes, love the lavender card very pretty, Hope you have a very good week Lou #84

Can so relate to the stuff we get out when making a card then shove it to one side without using it :) But, I do think your mess is kinda tidy and manageable. Happy WOYWW - love your monkey too :) Di xx

Ooh those fancy labels are nice aren't they? I'm glad to read that it's your dining table, I've often wondered why you have such discipline...see, I can do the tidying between 'projects', but argh...not a good cleaner. Perhaps I should use our eating table, get me some real discipline! Jan was right to compliment you on the lavender card, really pretty. Unlike that brooding sky you've photo'd..I hope it passes over you without interference!

I love seeing your "mess", Shaz. I know what you mean about having to tidy up when you use the dining table. I use mine when it's really cold upstairs and it can be a real pain having to put everything away, but then the family have to eat sometime!!
Thanks for the beautiful photo.
Happy WOYWW

Wow what a fantastic idea, just seen your spellbinders have strips in the packaging, I like to keep mine in the packaging, but they go everywhere, so I shall definitely have to pinch that idea lol. Can't wait to see the card you have made, it certainly looks like you were busy. Thank you so much for putting my blog candy on your sidebar and thank you for some lovely comments you have left me. You had me confused this morning, when you said you have bought the stamp of the monkey, I thought but it was a digi stamp I was given for the design team I'm on, then I started to panic in case I put the wrong image on, after checking my recipe on the blog that was right I went searching and found that it is a rubber stamp at Quixotic, I shop there often. Its a great price that I'm thinking of buying the stamp, I struggle with digi stamps and would prefer the stamp lol. Kezzy xxx

ShazInOzCardsCalligraphy said...

Kezzy, these are magnetic strips and collected all the magnets on fridge etc and cut them up and used them with double sided tape - some one on WOYWW suggested the magnetic tape ages ago but it was was too expensive did not last long.I too like them in my folders and not loose. That stamp you used is sold out. I bought what I think is better monkey one by same person on special so you might like to see it if you have the digi already. Shaz.x

As you may have noticed by now, I have finally got all three of my Scene cards up. I do appreciate your cheerful encouraging comments. Have a good week. xx Maggie #90

Hi Shaz, thanks for your lovely comments left on my blog earlier today. Yes, we will be working together as part of the DT team. I am looking forwards to getting to know everyone and creating of course.
I also had a browse through your blog, some beautiful work. I especially love your calligraphy, just 'beautiful'. I'm very much looking forwards to seeing what you create for cardmaking online.
This post, I picked to reply on, as I loved 'seeing' your work area, it made me smile. When I create, I make one very big mess (organised to me) but to anyone else they would cringe.
Please feel free to contact me at any time - my email connection can be found in my profile.
Talk soon
