Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Spinner card With Z-Fold + WOYWW

Hi there everyone, yes, it’s Wednesday and World Desk Day.. over at Julia’s, WOYWW for What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday right HERE!! ๐Ÿ˜Š
My desk midstream ... you can see it's a Blinky Bill Card (for the non Aussie folk Blinky Bill is a 1920's koala story book full of Aussie animal shenanigans). This card is a spinner card with Z-fold, here video by Jennifer McGuire. I looked at many other simple spinner card videos though, and used some of their techniques.
Dos and Don’ts
DO: a prototype. Mine  is on desk.. right hand side.
Printed off various size image, on Google. Ended up with 70%, just did rough image cut out on prototype to test image spinner.
DO: need an inverted image, my Gallery app on mobile so just reversed Blinky Bill for this card.
DO: chose right type of thread. I used Dental Floss. Knew sewing or embroidery thread wouldn't be strong enough, but really fine fishing line, which didn't have, would be best. The Floss had a bit too much give in it to spin well as opened card.
Do: centrally balance and attach image to thread before adding to card.
Do: USE lightest cardstock you can, because works a lot better at spin release when you use lighter card. As my card was for Mister Four, it needed to be very, VERY sturdy
This meant best spinner mechanics was a single finger flick!
Brilliant that way.
Do: remember to attach the spinner to top layer BEFORE you've joined other layer (NOT like me! ๐Ÿคซ Arrrgh!!).
Background was made with SU Stencil and Red + purple Distress inks with finger daubers, because Mister 4 is a purple fan, and Blinky is red, so combine! then works for both, took while though as A4 sheet of grey.
Back verse of card.
The cards are both birthdays, this one here is made with images etc from my "use it or else" bag.
The EF is my current fav of Embossalicious Swirls. It just goes with everything plus ribbon from Snippets, like all but base card.
Our Aussie images are quite a few with commentary, (which you can skip) it’s going across middle of WA, an enormous state, so takes 3 or more days to cross it.
Enjoyed walk to Fortescue Falls and the Fern Pool. A lot of people swimming at the falls ... too cold for us! The Fern Pool was very pretty with the maidenhair ferns lining the rocks.
The Circular Pool was viewed from the lookout above ๐Ÿ˜Š
Kalamina Gorge... beautiful and rewarding walk with red and blue dragonflies constantly darting around us. Light superb in the afternoon and the beautiful clear cool water cooled our feet perfectly! The folds in the red rock formations were truly amazing!
Another beautiful overnight camp Tambina Creek (Waterhole). Birdlife was prolific... few too many vocal corellas but thankfully they went to sleep too ๐Ÿ˜‰ Up the end were massive flat slabs of granite.. almost polished. Great campfire and a relaxing breakfast watching the reflections on the water.
We came across a temporary cattle yard beside the road of we think Hillside Station. They were sorting the cattle for the sales, drenching them and keeping the weaners aside. There was one massive bull, by his sheer presence, he let you know he was boss! One guy called out to us so we chatted to him for a while. He said the property was 2 million acres with no fences.. mustering must take quite a while.
We were intrigued by the hills closer to Marble Bar with the dark exposed rock on the top, Marble bar pool is also beautiful.
It still amazes us that most of the green you see is spinifex!
The drive to Roebourne was amazing ... constant Mula Mula, Sturt Desert Pea and other wildflowers.
Last image is sunset, outback style.
It is a wide brown land! Here  on the north coast of NSW in last ten days of fires 200,000 hectares (approx 500,000 acres) are burnt, and 36 homes destroyed,๐Ÿ˜ข many more in Qld. Our Firies did a magnificent job!
We had good rain last night, but not sure if it went over the hill. I pray so, it cleared our smoke though.
Many thanks everyone for popping over for a peek and a chat, may God bless your day wherever you maybe.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x
Thought for the Day:
If we want the healing of our land & burdens, the Lord is clear in His word. .. has made it simple to understand.
If my people,.. called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Putting God out of every aspect of our lives will not bring His blessing.
That's what's wrong in Oz, sadly. I pray๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™, pleading for forgiveness for my sinful ways and I seek His blessing again.

Oh Shaz - I am in love - with Blinky Bill. he is so super cute and he looks so good in red. But bet he looks good in blue as well ... and other colours. A triumph! Thanks for the tips too. A brill card.
Loving the Oz photos as always, but the Fern Pool is really so pretty I just wanted to be there - tranquil and at peace talking with God. Also love the Kalamina Gorge and the thought of those red and blue dragonflies adds to it all and creates a magical picture in my head. The strata in the hills close to Marble Bar is spectacular never seen so many layers and so much colour in one place. The sunset says it all, beautiful photograph as are all of them but the ones I mention really speak to me.
Blessings, Neet 1 xx (hope you are well)
ps am still reading your friend Betsy's blog - thanks for the link xx

Hi Shaz, thanks for stopping by. I am loving that Blinky Bill card - and isn't Jennifer McGuire great? She is my go to guru for card making, her videos ae so good and she does some great cards. Haven't tried this one though. The pictures of Oz are amazing - I have been twice but never made it to the West, much to my regret. Still time I guess!! Happy WOYWW Cindy #16

Hello my dear sister Shaz. Your Blinky card is so neat. I have never heard of him. The Oz photos are truly amazing. I can't even imagine one ranch having 2 million acres! Wow! Each and every photo are absolutely stunning.
I'm so sorry to hear about the fires. I hadn't seen it on the news at all, but then again, that doesn't surprise me. If it isn't politics, it rarely makes the news here.
I agree whole-heartedly with your verse today. I fear that is the main issue here in the USA too. People refuse to humble themselves before God and are flaunting his very laws for living a sin-free life. I know I need to work on humbling myself too. Dennis and I were just talking as we drove across this huge country of ours today, and wondering how long God will tarry with the absoute evil lurking everywhere these days. I want to say, "Come Lord Jesus, Come!" I'm so ready to go to Heaven, but I want more people to turn to Him too, so patience is needed.
Thank you for your beautiful and thought provoking post my dear Shaz.
Blessings,
Betsy

Fabulous cards Shaz - and thanks for all your tips regarding construction of the spinner :) Your other card is a delight to the eyes too.
Those Aussie photos, and narrative, are stunning - there is a lot of beauty all around when we open our eyes to see it!
Yes, mankind world wide certainly need to humble themselves - it is the same here!
Praise Go the fires did not directly impact (my) family in Nerang/Gilston area.
Blessings
Maxine

Such a brilliant card Shaz. Thanks for the do and don't tips, always useful. I do hope all the fires are under control soon, those poor people who have lost their homes. The landscapes in Oz are incredible. Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #3

cool spinner card and thanks for all the dos and don'ts. It looks neat on the z-fold like that.
Love your pics, they remind me a lot of the Utah area here in the U.S.

Lovely cards Shaz, the spinner one is fabulous, Blinky Bill is so cute and the card is so clever - and complicated by the sound of it, but well worth the hard work. Your photos are amazing - I hope the fires are under control now.

I’ve only heard of Blinky Bill through you...love that he’s still recognisable after quite some years. YOu reallly are an intrepid card maker...it wouldn’t occur to me to take Ona spinner any more, far too complicated and time consuming! Bet the young ma will be really chuffed with it though...and that’s why you do it, I know!! Beautiful Oz pics, just beautiful. Imagine farming 2 million acres. Can’t get my head around that vast-ness!

I love your spinner card! Did the koala actually blink as it spun? I made a spinner card for DD for her birthday this year - I could have used some of your awesome tips! I should buy some fishing line just to have hanging around for when the spinner card bug hits me! your photos are beautiful, as always, especially the sunset one. I feel for those who lost their homes in the fires, so sad. Thanks for your visit, and Happy Belated WOYWW! Lindart #25

Shaz, I love that spinner card, they always look very special, but what really got my attention was the picture of the strata rock, Marble Bar, absolutely fabulous, I just love geomorphology, and that is such an amazing example of sedimentary rocks with jasper, Chert, and sandstone, we had a picture of it in my A level Geography book, and it was one of the things that just stuck in the mind.
Thank you for making my day, and do you mind if I download your picture and save it?
Bless you

Your spinner card is great, Shaz - very clever design, and as always, your Oz pics are stunning! You live in a very beautiful place. Thank you for your visit and I'm sorry to be so long replying - been a busy few days. I'm glad you enjoyed hearing about how my hubby and I met. It's worth giving the wood block stamp another try - they work very well on paper, but you have to put a pad underneath because they are not squashy like rubber stamps. I think I am making some progress with the bleaching technique and hope to have something to report by tomorrow!

Happy belated WOYWW,
