Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Soccer Pop Up, House Mouse, Quilting Cards + WOYWW + Snippets, IDEAS

Well, it's time for WOYWW or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday, pop over to Sarah's at Sarah's Craft Shed, Head Desker of WOYWW!  here is my latest desk as I'm working on a 1st birthday 🎂 card!

I was told to use BRIGHT colours so that's what I'm doing with an old set of SU papers. The house mouse image is done in alcohol markers then added glossy accents. The colours were best match to the papers. The image was die cut outside the image, to see how to do this see this post here and here! Finished card is last card shared.

This card below was made using this video as a template, however if you’re wanting specific measure and guide video it’s very difficult, it’s a six minute card video AND to make it did not take anywhere near six minutes!

The outside front of card from web, image above this is inside.
Basically I followed a rough idea then did my own template. My colours weren't quite the same and my white gelly roll pen didn’t work like hers did,  so did thicker lines! Despite all hiccoughs, it met the need of a soccer or football card for mister 12. If anyone saw my desk two weeks ago they'll see this card underwent a great change from original thoughts!

This next card is received by my friend she loves purple. the Folder (Cuttlebug Plus, with white chalk ink highlights) and stamp set  are both disc. years ago, stamp set is Chocolate Baroque.

Here's a couple of birthday cards as done with quilt die see back here, it makes 3 cards which is quite handy. The washi paper bought in Japan by my sister last Nov is really great with this design. Love them all. This CCD die was unused for years till I came across a video using a different quilting die but not as nice a one as this one.

They're made using a CCD happy birthday die and on second card a SB labels shadowed in matt gold used on cards and the washi paper.
Here's Chester's 1st birthday card. Phew! I think it meets the criteria of bright colours, also used glossy accents on various images. Stamps are all from House Mouse balloon set.
To
Aussie photos. I'm not walking or doing much exercise at moment as I've a lower leg skin infection. Since I'm on high cortisone it may take possibly months to heal. All prayers welcome.😊
These photos were taken on a walk shortly before my lower leg infection, the close up shows a clever surfer catching a wave.

Thanks so very much for popping over for a peek and a chat, prayer hugs 🙏🏻🤗  Shaz in Oz.x

Thought of the Day

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

This is a favourite verse of mine. In troubles and stresses we really need a refuge, and the strength to carry us through that trouble... our God indeed is a very PRESENT HELP in trouble.

I often say to my friends where would I be without Jesus?... without Jesus, I'd be lost, I'd not have the promise of a home in heaven and I wouldn't have His wonderful present help in my troubles. Leg infections might seem small, but small things may impinge in a big way on day to day living. I couldn't believe how quickly it flared up. But I have my Jesus as my Saviour from sin... and as my very PRESENT HELP in this AND every trouble. Praying that you do also. May God be with you in ALL your burdens. 🙏🏻❤️

Pop Out Birthday Cards, Double Stamped Vellum, WOYWW, + Snippets, NBUS.

Well it's time for WOYWW or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday, pop over to Sarah's at Sarah's Craft Shed, Head Desker of WOYWW!

Today's desk, I’m attempting to work on a card for Hudson Mister Twelve who loves cricket… I think I’ll use this “new to me” stamp and Distress inks for background, with a main digi image of cricketers.

This next part of post was actually started in late 2022, and never published! It’s for Miss Eleven (who’s now 13!). As you possibly guessed her then favourite colour was purple! BUT this was NOT "take one" of it, this embossed AI coloured silver foil is "take three". Was delighted with first go, loved it … showed it (not to child), to be told “oh, nooo pink of any tone, but purple.”

Okay, so no. 1 cleaned off foil, but no. 2 was ditched not right, too - strip off colour again!, phew again! happy with take three. NOT a good start. Hiccoughs did continue, due to me not 100%, it ended up rushed, but finished at end, arrived sadly a day late, I was too slow...

This card is for Mister Seven (now 9). I actually bought the set for Miss Eleven as she’s very tall like her parents, Eamon not so much, but saw this - another pop out design by Jennifer McGuire and could see it working with this set. Stamp set is NBUS, think by MFT?

For the next card, I had a small snippet of the double stamped vellum left - so enough for this card saw technique on Splitcoast Stampers, I do love it. You simply stamp on back of vellum with dye ink (SU Certainly Celery) one way then when dry, stamp on front with versamark and platinum EP in this instance. MB Swirl and Isabella die (layered with schparkly EP) both Disc I think. Window aperture was extended as its peekaboo small die. Looks great extended. I’m entering this is Darnell’s new linky, her IDEAS challenge, this week 2 is DIES, see here!

I've 2 other cards today made March 2024, and unblogged. Last year in early April we had a new baby boy arrive in our family. I was very unwell so had to make the card from snippets and couldn't add details of birthdate, weight, length etc. Anyway here is little Chester's baby card from his birth on 2nd April 2024. Yes, Chester's 1st birthday is almost here that's when I found I'd not shared this. I'm stumped for it as wanted to use hedgie set. Will see what else is there in stash!

You can't see it easily but it had dots background on white base, plus CB Baby EF was used on checked blue card. It is disc. as well as baby hedgie stamp set by PB, ribbon is blue baby footprints bought eons ago. This is another from snippets at same time, unblogged. (Do have current cards made but can’t share them yet.)
“Birthday” rectangular die has since gone AWOL 🙏🏻 (still have “happy”, thankfully!). Smooched snippet with blue/ purple is possibly oxides? Swirl long die is CCD and swirl EF is Embossaliscious. All SNIPPETS - off to playground, except base. (The long die goes over a piece cut to same size as rectangular die, for those wondering how it’s done.)
I've a rash of female April, May birthdays, a 1 y.o. and 12 y.o boy to make. Oh, for enough hours in a day.
Now to Aussie photos…

Stormy skies here because yes, we’ve had bucket loads of rain, a spin off from Cylcone Alfred, a recent unwanted guest (400km north of here) causing many issues especially in Brisbane and environs. Worst were the many trees down with flooding caused massive blackouts, my niece and family still without power.
A video (see here if not showing) by Greg in Oz (BiL) up on Northern Tablelands, shows some of the water overload.
Another one of a lyrebird also by Greg in Oz. Or view here if not visible, also on northern tablelands. Put both up full volume, to appreciate it, especially falls video.
The lyrebird's tail is shape of a lyre when opened, see here. It's a great mimic the most distinctive call is the whipbird. As they're Aussie bird calls you probably may not recognise many.
Thought of the Day:
Think many up north especially would appreciate these verses but to be honest I really do today and every day. There's a hymn I need Thee every hour. Where would I be without the LORD? Not here, of that I’m sure!

Still Here! Joining Snippets Playground + very belated WOYWW

Okay, when three bloggers in less than a week contact you to see if you’re okay, it’s a big prompt from the LORD to do a post. Update is below.

First of all sharing multiple cards I’ve made for August birthdays, had a run of them in first month of August.
This is my desk using some Gansai Tambi watercolours and making three female cards, they’re really all birthday cards but one is late so turned it into a bible verse card and as lady has dementia I made it a simple verse “the LORD is my Shepherd”... so belatedly linking over to Julia’s blog post on WOYWW.  Over at Julia’s
First collection are all wood mount stamps and every item is discontinued, stamps are from early 1990s so 30 years old.
They were coloured according to how I thought the ladies would like them. But one I don’t know the favourite colours, so went with mine 😂

The next card is a CAS washi thank you card, die is Disc. CB die with Olivia alphabet, with simple scoring and peel off borders.

Last is a pop up window card (technique See post here) for Mister Four, image is from a Google add for Paw Patrol.. I think. First photo is me trying to figure out the layout. Ollie's mum made an amazing Paw Patrol cake, so glad they rescued it!! 🤣🤣🤣

Personal update:
A simple reason for silence is poor health. I’ve multiple congenital conditions (from birth) that have affected my health all my life, and been on life saving medications for 55 years. When I had my heart attack three years ago Drs did their usual of thinking ‘they know best’, and refused necessary medication on admission.

Result is a mild heart attack was not. This has totally affected my health stability. Combined with my 36 y.o very wise local Dr retiring, I have spent the last 18mths trying to source a new one, becoming more ill as time passed due to a Dr who wouldn’t listen. In God’s great mercy, I’m now (last 2 months) under another brilliant medical team and things are starting to stabilise a little, at last. I know that there is a good, God-chosen reason for everything, including this, and THAT is such a comfort at all times.

A Dr who will listen is a rare thing these days. It’s not taught in Medical Schools my Naturopath said (who teaches Physiology to Nurses at our local Medical School on our University campus). New Drs are apparently taught to listen to their learning above the patient! 😳 So grateful my health is improving a little, but I’m not what I was when went on miracle trip in 2018 to visit all my blogging pals. I probably won’t even travel locally far, my system is now too fragile, and won’t be able to blog much, as I’m so slow.

Crafting still continues though 😆😍 and my garden and other things, I just have more help, God is good, all the time.

Here are some Aussie photos, some of nearby creek, with full moon recently .

Including my garden today in front yard, the natives are in bloom, mostly grevillea (orange = Birdsong, cream = Moonlight), but white flowering bush is Leptospernum or Teatree (we are in late winter Downunder).
Thank you so much for caring bloggers, especially (in order of contact this past 5 days) to Neet, Liz and Brenda L. It’s a beautiful thing in blogland when you’re actually missed by your non appearance!
Also a big shout out and thank you to Julia who actually sent me an ATC for our WOYWW anniversary in May, I was very unwell then and sadly I’ve not acknowledged its receipt either. Here it is with Iris’ hedgie from Lincolnshire.
Thank YOU, Julia and for my new WOYWW badge too, to add to my collection, (especially as I’m not sure you’re that well either)... 😍

I receive a lot of your posts via “Followit” but rarely comment as time and ‘oomph’ is scarce for such things.

Praying God’s blessing upon you all and those you love, this day and every day ahead till Jesus comes again, just as He promised us (Acts 1:11)!

Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

Thought of the day:

For those who wonder why I always do a “Thought of the Day”, it’s because of such events as 26.6.20, when after mild heart attack I nearly died again because was refused required medication. That was time number 7, my complicated Endocrine condition is very rare, hence easily misunderstood. When you nearly die 7 times you totally realise the ‘brevity of life’. Each blog post might be my last, and I always want to honour the One Who makes my life worth living, our beautiful LORD Jesus.

After such an update the verse that leapt out in my mind was Romans 8:28. It’s oft quoted in times of hardship, because it is SO reassuring.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for GOOD to them that love God,

to them who are the called according to His purpose.

Note: it's GOOD according to God's purpose... NOT good according what we think it should be!

It’s ALL THINGS … this of course is for those who love Jesus, we can be assured that everything happens for GOOD - and I add for GOD!

Our Loving Father God sees what we cannot, our wondrous God sees the BIG PICTURE.

The WHY behind everything. So when life gets tough it’s such a comfort to cling to “the God of all comfort”.

For some reason we are always expecting life to run smoothly, but this is exactly the OPPOSITE of what our LORD Jesus promised us.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace.

In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Our Jesus promised PEACE in Him, but TRIBULATION or trouble in the world, BUT HE has overcome it all, and will give us the victory in it all in this world by faith in Him ...

The key is to abide, or live in His peace - while in the midst of the world’s trouble. Jesus alone can HELP us do that.

There is trouble in the broken world, because of Genesis 3, man sinned and a curse was put upon all, for all have sinned (See Romans 3:23). BUT one glorious day, ALL CROOKED THINGS will be made STRAIGHT (see Isaiah 42:16)!

INDEED What a glorious day that will be!

Watercolour lifting, Shaker Card, Christmas, NBUS, Snippets + WOYWW

Well, a desky share, two actually - many cards of varied techniques, I’ve been busy. To see other desks, please do pop over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and be surprised at how much you can learn .. all over the world!

The first desk is for a three year old.. had used this “Cheeky Monkey” stamp by Kraftin' Kimmie ten years ago here, but thought this card was passé now, so hunted for another idea and came up with this.

My desk shows an assortment of pens for colouring on right, scissor for fussy cutting and shaker elements … however didn’t take photo of card properly with outside photos, was too sunny then AND forgot later on, till mailing it! Oops! Thankfully I’d taken this inside photo, just in case. 🙄 So will have to do.

I did put glossy accents on monkey to make him stand out a bit more, but hard to see glossiness. The background jungle leaf paper was from interweb.

Second desk is my batch bake - I’m attacking my next lot of Christmas cards!

This design changed many times in my head in the waiting. Ended up with two designs, one just once, other multiplied, 16 cards, in Gold white design, a NBUS that “Rejoice!” Die is by Simon Says at post Christmas sale. Love a sale! Thanks to my US friend Marilyn who mailed it to me. The small rectangle is insert snippet from window frame die used on previous Christmas set and on brayer card here. Couldn’t waste it!
Has anyone else noticed how few Christmas cards have the reality of Christmas on them? I was the only one recently in two Christmas challenges I entered.

The Penny Black “Christmas in July” release in the three release videos I watched had not one real Christmas card on it  - Jesus banned, it seems, from His own celebration! my heart is so sad, our world is so far from God.

I left comments on the Penny black Release videos as were “holiday cards” not “Christmas cards”.

Here’s the completed set.

This birthday card I’ve made before here, it’s watercolour lifting, and so CASED it, twice actually.
Forgot to photograph one of them too, it was a bit different… better stamping, smoother watercolour paper. Had a busy time as you see.

I made two more lady birthday cards, another mauve shade one, for a dear friend, with a special verse, her favourite sweetpea.

Digi are from web, verse is from Word Art Wednesday where they have new ones free each fortnight. Labels 28 SB are dies, bottom more lacy version of SB 28 are a gift years ago from Magpie, or Glenda on WOYWW.

My next friend’s favourite colour is RED! This is mixture of four different AI on embossed foil card, technique shown in more detail on these posts here and here. This has a NBUS.. the birthday greeting is at last taken out of hiding - happy birthday by Creative Expression (Sue Wilson). Other dies are rectangular ones by Scrapdragon, and flower disc by MB, Blushing Branch. This is my Snippets card as the foil, white card pieces, not the base, were neglected snippets in stash, esp foil had it embossed on desk for ages, but not coloured.

Lastly is a sml text done many times, but new colours! Made as a 60th birthday present,  and this card to go with it, is a NBUS nameless stamp, bought in 2012 at Manchester with Neet, at Abbakhan  on sml brayered piece done ages ago, but brightened up when had brayer out so went onto a card precut in Christmas set from last post so was very quick make. Will repeat for sure.

Okay that’s it for this week!  Busy in our garden at the moment, as it’s roses feed, mulch and sort out time, plus other like citrus and natives.

Have ordered three new roses from S.A, which is always exciting. Like to have about three dozen bushes, and lost a few in our wet weather. It’s being prettied up with some nice edging too, the beds with none at the moment, and a few stepping pavers, as changing configurations a bit. My brother in law is a great help there.

Here’s some other Oz photos, my walks are mostly at the end of the day as you see!

Above photo has the Qantas flight coming into land, it comes in low over the ocean and creek before heading over the headland to the airport.

Just to remind you spring is near, here - some very pretty yellow wattle. Wattle day is August 1st.

Thanks so much for popping over - I really appreciate it so much! I will visit as many as I can, but iPad now blocks all bloggers except those with pop up windows comment boxes.

May God bless you and all whom you love,

Shaz in Oz.x

Thought for the Day:

The verse that was on the sweetpea card, is this favourite - "God is my Strength and Power: and He maketh my way perfect." Also Psalm 18 as well as 2 Samuel 22.
God is our Hope, Help, Strength and Power as Jesus Himself said in John 14:5 "Without Me, ye can do nothing".
"My sufficiency is in God".
This is truly all that keeps me going- my God.
Pray that this blesses your heart, too.
