Pop Out Birthday Cards, Double Stamped Vellum, WOYWW, + Snippets, NBUS.

 Well it's time for WOYWW or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday, pop over to Sarah's at Sarah's Craft Shed, Head Desker of WOYWW!

Today's desk, I’m attempting to work on a card for Hudson Mister Twelve who loves cricket… I think I’ll use this “new to me” stamp and Distress inks for background, with a main digi image of cricketers.

This next part of post was actually started in late 2022, and never published! It’s for Miss Eleven (who’s now 13!). As you possibly guessed her then favourite colour was purple! BUT this was NOT "take one" of it, this embossed AI coloured silver foil is "take three". Was delighted with first go, loved it … showed it (not to child), to be told “oh, nooo pink of any tone, but purple.”

Okay, so no. 1 cleaned off foil, but no. 2 was ditched not right, too - strip off colour again!, phew again! happy with take three. NOT a good start. Hiccoughs did continue, due to me not 100%, it ended up rushed, but finished at end, arrived sadly a day late, I was too slow... 

This card is for Mister Seven (now 9). I actually bought the set for Miss Eleven as she’s very tall like her parents, Eamon not so much, but saw this - another pop out design by Jennifer McGuire and could see it working with this set. Stamp set is NBUS, think by MFT?

For the next card, I had a small snippet of the double stamped vellum left - so enough for this card saw technique on Splitcoast Stampers, I do love it. You simply stamp on back of vellum with dye ink (SU Certainly Celery) one way then when dry, stamp on front with versamark and platinum EP in this instance. MB Swirl and Isabella die (layered with schparkly EP) both Disc I think. Window aperture was extended as its peekaboo small die. Looks great extended. I’m entering this is Darnell’s new linky, her IDEAS challenge, this week 2 is DIES, see here!

I've 2 other cards today made March 2024, and unblogged. Last year in early April we had a new baby boy arrive in our family. I was very unwell so had to make the card from snippets and couldn't add details of birthdate, weight, length etc. Anyway here is little Chester's baby card from his birth on 2nd April 2024. Yes, Chester's 1st birthday is almost here that's when I found I'd not shared this. I'm stumped for it as wanted to use hedgie set. Will see what else is there in stash!

You can't see it easily but it had dots background on white base, plus CB Baby EF was used on checked blue card. It is disc. as well as baby hedgie stamp set by PB, ribbon is blue baby footprints bought eons ago. This is another from snippets at same time, unblogged. (Do have current cards made but can’t share them yet.)

“Birthday” rectangular die has since gone AWOL 🙏🏻 (still have “happy”, thankfully!). Smooched snippet with blue/ purple is possibly oxides? Swirl long die is CCD and swirl EF is Embossaliscious. All SNIPPETS - off to playground, except base. (The long die goes over a piece cut to same size as rectangular die, for those wondering how it’s done.)

I've a rash of female April, May birthdays, a 1 y.o. and 12 y.o boy to make. Oh, for enough hours in a day.

Stormy skies here because yes, we’ve had bucket loads of rain, a spin off from Cylcone Alfred, a recent unwanted guest (400km north of here) causing many issues especially in Brisbane and environs. Worst were the many trees down with flooding caused massive blackouts, my niece and family still without power.

Another one of a lyrebird also by Greg in Oz. Or view here if not visible, also on northern tablelands. Put both up full volume, to appreciate it, especially falls video.

The lyrebird's tail is shape of a lyre when opened, see here. It's a great mimic the most distinctive call is the whipbird. As they're Aussie bird calls you probably may not recognise many.
Thought of the Day:

Think many up north especially would appreciate these verses but to be honest I really do today and every day. There's a hymn I need Thee every hour. Where would I be without the LORD? Not here, of that I’m sure!

Stencilled Stamped Challenges - Friday Smiles, Twofer, NBUS, Butterflies, Snippets Playground,

Hi there everyone! Sooo sorry I’ve been soo silent, but was rather unwell in February, then busy catching up and had a visitor last week. Talk about God’s perfect timing, I was well and the weather was wonderful.😃 A total contrast this week.. more of that anon! I’m  popping into share my Two-fer!

Don’t die of shock but I’m joining in with Darnell’s Two-fer challenge as well as her NBUS, AND Mrs A.'s butterfly challenge this really must be a record for me, I’m so bad at challenges.😆 These are my Two-fers! I will share below. Firstly my desk!

I’m starting the Two-fer on the left, this is a male “Get Well card”, for my nephew. He smashed his kneecap in eight places! Ouch! All wired up, a bad crash - so thought he might need a “Cheer me up!”. I’ve actually painted the background (below the Sunflower mask) a watercolour blue wash, dried it, then stencilled in grey DI in new “Hexagonal pattern” stencil by Caravelle Studio, made in France! Who’d have thought?

To be honest most is lost unless you look closely, can see it a bit through oxides and elsewhere IRL. Used Hero Art “Hugs & Prayers” set.

Interesting thing with two cards, I used same colours, one in DI on plain white card other with oxides on heavyweight watercolour paper. Results oh so different! 

On this card my NBUS is my hexagon stencil, a birthday pressie.. BTW dear, kind Darnell, your lovely, most surprising birthday card arrived safely Downunder, and been duly admired by one and all... thank you.❤️🤗 So VERY kind when you aren’t well.

The second card has a couple of NBUS, too. This is an embossed resist background of the SU French Script background stamp in WOW, White Linen EP - my fav white powder. Added Sunflower (no name stencil) in DI. Two NBUS - Simon Says dragonfly die (love his iridescent cardstock wings) and the Happy Birthday greeting, cheap stamp set picked up from Spotlight.

The last card is by Darkroom Door Butterfly collage stamp, again done with Gansai Tambi watercolours, seem to love them at mo. The die is by Impressions Obsession greeting set. The EF is Regency Swirls Embossaliscious. Now to the Aussie photos, a combo.. some from last week - perfect!

Then a couple from today... it’s been extremely wet we’ve had over 210mm or over 8” in the last two days. Joining up with Aussie photos OVER HERE to Annie’s Friday Smiles, my friends definitely had big smiles when we went swimming at these lovely spots, so VERY blessed to have such weather.

TODAY at 5pm: Seas are big, brown-cream, foamy-frothing and windswept waves. No understanding it though - I saw a man fishing in the debris and flood-filled creek on an outgoing tide. THAT is about as bad as you can fish.

Joseph Coat of Many Colours Technique, Mo’s Christmas + NBUS + WOYWW

 Well, everyone, this is actually my first crafty blog post for 2021! Have been blogging, but over on my Christian blog - here. Been making cards, too, but tis summer here, and either had visitors or visiting family, so limited time. We’re blessed re Covid, at a cost though, as our borders are closed. The international tennis players visiting for the Aust Open were not happy at our strict fortnight of hotel quarantine for all who do get to fly in. Since it is Wednesday and WOYWW, this is my desk for What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday (pop over to Julia’s do.. learn lots!).

I’m working a new technique called Joseph’s coat of many colours.. (or more usually Coat of many Colours, but as we know it’s really referring to Joseph’s coat! I’m just reading through there in Genesis, actually as I read the Bible through each year). Saw it in Gina K video here. Except I cheated, I’ve painted my background in watercolours, way quicker than inking and these ones I’ve layered the colours several times, and spritzed and smooched. Smooch it in coloured layers on side of mat to spread the colours around. Let dry overnight and flatten well under heavy book before stamping silhouette stamps on them. This one is an old Disc Elusive Images UK set -  Scottish thistle, the fern stamp below on ink resist card is from the same set. Desky share above is inked in with top layer in DI Chipped Sapphire.

This desk is pre-inking with just clear embossing over painted background. Here are my cards I’ve made.

First of all my Christmas card for Scrappy Mos Christmas card Challenge.. see over here. I have used WOW Platinum EP on the deep embossing on this EF by 3D Gemini embossing folder of “Hark the Herald angels sing” so multiple embossed it for extra pop. The verse stamped on vellum is Our Daily Bread, one below is up close... the die is a CCD, and has a double layer of vellum behind it. I heat embossed cardstock die in platinum EP. The die is a NBUS entry for challenge (Never Before Used Schtuff, so over to Darnell’s challenge here, special prayers for D’s broken back to heal).

Now here are some cards in Joseph coat of Many Colours technique.

Two male cards, my 2nd NBUS - a penguin Stamp set is from ShazSilverwolf (❤ THANK YOU) Angry Penguins by Krazelkraft (145) and 3D EF by Spellbinders Celtic Weave, on first card the corners are cut up of diecut from SB Magnificent Squares in navy scraps 

All are Snippetty cards too, off to the playground, yay 😀 !

The aged look (Tarnished Foil) on the Gold foil card is another new technique I tried.

To be honest it’s hardly noticeable in photo, but more in real life. 

Last card in this technique is for my friend, another birthday. I’ve seven birthdays in February, my friend loves purple and butterflies .. a Stampendous stamp set.

This bible verse of Isaiah 12:2 is by ODB too. Dies are CCD (border) or Scrapdragon (rectangle frames). Also linking this card to Mrs A’s Butterfly Challenge, as lots of butterflies + Geranium = Bright pink! 

The very last card ink resist is on its way to Japan, a good month early (almost), so hopefully in time. The verse “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee.” is a set I bought on eBay, think it’s called Biblical Impressions, might be wrong though, as hunted and can’t find it, was a red rubber sheet of verses. All KJV so I loved them.

Thank YOU Miss Di 💗 of the Snippet’s Playground

This post is an extra “speshul” one! It is a world 🌍 wide THANK YOU blog hop with Darnell - in honour of Miss Di of the Snippets Playground.

She has been running the playground for seven 7 wonderful years. I first joined on 13th March 2012, see this post here (for Challenge no 11, early in Di's first year) where I wrote:
“This card also really qualifies for Di's snippets challenge this week, so pop along to the playground for it... that is if you dare - yep, they dip your pigtails in the inkwells over there in the playground”.
Miss Di, I want to say a ginormous warm thank you from Downunder for all your work in running this challenge for so many years. 
It’s one of my highlights to join in with the playground, using up snippets...  even though they grow faster than they reduce!

I've been grateful for the fun and shenanigans of the playground to brighten my blogging, for almost the 7 years now! And now Miss has an extra helper as well as Parsnip - ‘tis the ultra cutest ever Dudley, who is rather a cheeky distraction in our playground these days! My card.. of the snippety variety again! Recipe below.

Today I decided to revisit an old technique - the salt with water-colour technique, with Brushos! Not sure if anyone else has tried it, but it seemed a good idea. I’m also not sure if it’s my watercolour technique or the salt, but it didn’t react that much! (maybe too it dried quickly in our hot weather?) It has great colour so it didn’t matter that the salt failed to match my expectations. *Used sea salt and regular salt.

  *Stamped over one end with Hero Arts background stamp in versamark and added WOW bright white EP. 

*Used thank you die cut x-large “thank you” by Honey Bee, bought with Simon says voucher before Christmas and having its first outing today. I die cut three pieces from snippets, two of white, a bottom and top piece, and from base Brusho sheet also cut a top piece. 
All have DST to adhere easily.
Added a bit of lace to finish it off. Cut Brusho base in SB stitched rectangle Die, largest one, extended.

WOYWW #500! Brushos Butterflies + Diecuts

{I've just started a new blog HERE too if interested?}
Mm, here we are in 2019. Seems to me yesterday was 2000 in some ways and a new millennium! It's also a big day for WOYWW or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It's WOYWW 500! A huge congrats to Julia for hosting so many times! So pop over to Julia of The Stamping Ground HERE .. 

Its also my 8th anniversary at WOYWW! as my first WOYWW was first week in 2011!

My desk is one earlier in week. Trying out some new clear stamps from Sweet n Sassy.. a Christmas addition. 😊

Another desk with some brusho backgrounds. I use scrap cardboard in this case from muesli bars for great watercolour card! Hard to believe below is just a scrap packet base!

Here is the card result a special 40th birthday for a special family member! SB pierced rectangle die, Swirls EF Embossalicious, with stamped watercoloured butterfly by Kaisercraft set of 4.

This card is another colourway for this design here. Also with Elusive Images stamp set.

Rather like the pink lavender and grey combo.

These next ones are also Brusho watercolour backgrounds and they're done as a Christmas present. TH mixed media lace corner, MB swirls, MB butterfly.
