Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Ultimate Crafts Dragonfly, New Die Cut Technique + WOYWW

(Warning - photo overload again today!)

Hi there everyone, yes, it’s Wednesday and World Desk Day.. over at Julia’s, WOYWW for What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday right HERE!! 😊
Few desks again today with techniques. Firstly was working on birthday card, and using the Ultimate Crafts dragonfly die, had two lots of washi paper I liked. Didn’t end up using this design but different layout but decided to add some acetate with DST, and TH rock candy glitter to wings. Did on silver ones, too, made from silver washi tape on card too. Haven’t quite finished that card but share other.
Desk 2 is at ridiculous o’clock last night, really this morning, couldn’t sleep. Up & decided to try this idea over on Verna’s blog, she has link to video on technique (here). So desk shows me with die cut, Holly Berries - Penny Black with a serviette (already in quarters) folded in half, total of eight layers, with sheet of white cardboard underneath. See video by Dave. It took quite a few passes to die cut it right through, as this is detailed die, used metal shim.
Fetched out my old Reeves Watercolour  paint tin from 1971! Good brush 000 and painted away. One thing to note, I did need to glue few bits of compressed serviette (or napkin) onto the cardstock. I think it’s because was ultra smooth surface card, no tooth to surface. I loved this technique! First time I’ve really been happy with this PB die, had for ages. Hollies are so tedious to add gems to or highlight, easy peasy with this. Will repeat!
Now to three cards made:
Birthday card changed to this, MB Pippi butterfly (for Mrs A's challenge, see below) praying for you card, with Hero Arts prayer Die with washi, stamp comes from Joanna Inspired by Stamping Sympathy set.
Second card is the Dragonfly on largest wonky rectangle die set, in washi mounted, mounted on deep blue. Happy birthday stamp - disc. set by Sweet ‘n Sassy.
Last card is Christmas card. Believe it or not folks, Christmas is coming, yesterday shops had it everywhere! An-nnd Simon Says Monday Challenge is Christmas! used CB Holly Ribbons EF, PB die, with Poppy Stamps “Tidings of Great Joy” Stamp/die set. Used all Snippets but base, sooo off to Snippets Playground over at Miss Di’s. Yay!!
Aussie Photos: Continuing trip (with family member, on other side of Oz) start just off coast of WA.
Definitely wouldn’t want to be here in Marble Bar in summer and really admire the pioneers of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
Poinciana House was built in 1908, listed with the National Trust. George Miles built it for his wife but she only stayed a year, now a private residence.
Certainly appreciated seeing the ocean again after almost 10,000 kms and a lot of that on the dirt!
Point Samson is really a beautiful spot... nothing here but a general store, tavern and cafe. The housing is certainly built for the cyclones .... row upon row of screws on the roof and no guttering... doesn’t rain a lot and when it does it’s so heavy the gutters don’t take it!
We found a front garden of a home, on a walk, with some very healthy Sturt Desert Pea.
Also a nice view up to Cape Lambert, the Rio Tinto iron loading facility.
Cossack is now a historic ghost town, the original trading port before Dampier, also the original port of pearls before the luggers moved north to Broome in 1886. The town was dissolved in 1910 and abandoned by 1950.
Some of the bluestone buildings have been restored, the present museum is by far the most impressive.”
Last photo is of stunning orchid (Oncidium), (in my photo spot courtyard) on loan from neighbour Edward, pray for him please had news this week his cancer has spread throughout, praying for them all in it.
Well, that’s it for today, hope some tips helpful! May God bless your day wherever you may be, and especially thanks if you’ve time for a chat!
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x
Thought for the day: This month for October there's a very large group of Christians all over Oz who are fasting and praying for Repentance, Revival and Rain rain rain! This is why.
This is mostly up where I live in north NSW, and SE Qld.. all in extreme drought except for coast, fires over the hill still burning. So will for the month of Oct. in my small way be joining in prayer & fasting .. it’s key, repentance revival and rain for Oz!
When you think one farmer a week reportedly commits suicide each week, due drought severity this is really, really critical.
Souls need to be saved. See my latest post on this here.
This verse holds key which I incidentally shared three weeks ago, unaware of this prayer challenge. Note the two sets of actions
May I do my part! that God can bless.
*** on our part = humble, pray, seek, turn
*** God’s part = hear, forgive, heal
Also joining over with:
1. http://wordartwednesday.blogspot.com/?m=1
3. Butterfly Challenge Your 6 elements are Magnolia/ *Mandarin/Mint/*Marker Pens/Metal Charm + your *Butterfly. *Used these 3, marker pen on butterfly pearls to make them gold.

I always think that abandoned towns like that are so poignant - all the lives, stories and goings on that must have made that a community. And now all gone...so interesting to see parts of your beautiful country that we never got to (and probably never will now) so thank you for sharing. Your crafts are fabulous as ever!

Hi Shaz. Lovely cards today - I have never used serviettes for card making, but have a friend who regularly uses them. Incredible Aussie shots - a huge land you live in. Some hard times for your nation at the moment - so many suffering. Our world is struggling at this time in history - so much going on - signs of the times!
Take care. God bless.

I love the colours of that washi paper background Shaz very oriental. Beautiful design, it's a good feeling when we find a tutorial or vid that can help us make the most of what we have. Beautiful cards.
Magnificent views of your homeland, huge compared to our little land. After torrential rains yesterday today we too have had blue skies.. nice and handy as garden work has taken priority today.
Sending blessing your way, Happy WoywW Tracey #5

I was wondering what you meant by compressed napkin? Love your cards. I use napkins quite a bit in my art.

Beautiful cards as always dear Shaz. Your Aussie pictures are so beautiful as well. They remind me very much of some of the terrain we've traveled here in the USA this past week. I can truly believe winter is on it's way here with the snow we exerienced.
I will definitely be in prayer for Australia. It's interesting. I had my annual physical today and I was just talking about this very thing with my doctor. He is a very strong Christian man and we were discussing how we, His people, need to humble ourselves and pray for the state of our world and our souls.
Wishing you a lovely day my dear friend and sister.
Blessings,
Betsy

Your cards are amazing, as usual! WOW!
Great photos.
I will be praying for your country. I remember when we first moved to Arizona (2007) it was in extreme drought. Right now our home is in abnormally dry to moderate drought. We have have over 10 inches of rain this summer which is more than Tucson has gotten.
Blessings!

Hi Shaz, a super set of cards, love the Asian patterned papers with the white/silver butterfly and dragonfly die cuts, many thanks for some much needed inspiration. Everything is very dry further out west from us, our state is in need of a very big downpour... thank you for stopping by to comment... have a wonderful long weekend... Megan

I will keep you and your neighbor in my prayers, Shaz. You are so sweet to take care of his gorgeous flowering plant. Your garden is lovely. Living where I do in Texas is nowhere near as bleak but we have had our share of droughts so I understand the fragility. Very pretty cards you've made and interesting seeing your travels. xoxo

You have some fabulous cards there and reading how each one is accomplished was quite interesting.
You do beautiful work, quite talented you are. :-)
Some interesting historical facts you have shared with us, thank you.
Prayer and fasting for the drought, good for you.
We are doing the same for our president and country right now. So much hate...
God hears and answers the prayers of His people. Oh that we would cry out to Him, repent and turn away from our sin.

Take care and God bless you~

Sorry I’m late, again! Love the holly and tissue technique, i can see you in the middle of the night, cranking the die cutter forward and backward. The things we do! Your watercolour paint set has done really well, certainly doesn’t owe you anything for value! Lovely cards as usual dear Shaz. I think Washi paper is generally more lovely and certainly more useful than washi tape. I wonder if that’s controversial!!

Have just watched the video but had to have it on silent as Thr Doc is watching the TV. I got gist of it but need to go back and watch it properly. The results look pretty good. Love the vibrant colours on your butterfly card. Thankyou for coming and spinning the butterfly wheel with me this week. Hugs Mrs A.

Beautiful cards! I love the Washi paper with die-cuts - great way to use it. The Holly looks classy on the embossed background. Love your pics too! It's raining at the moment, here in Melbourne. I wish it would fall in the places it is badly needed. Thanks for joining us at the PBSC:)

Stunning cards and great techniques! What a magnificent orchid too, a real wowzer! Lifting Edward up in prayer, may he know the love of Jesus at this time. Praying each day for your country. xx

Need to watch the video later but in the meantime I love the cards you have made. I like how you cut lettering out of patterned paper - it is something that you have inspired me to do but then I forget about it. The dragonfly wings are gorgeous, so lacy and it looks lovely against that background.
I will email you shortly.

Hi Shaz. Love all the cards. I have tried the serviette idea, must do it again. Always love the photos of Aus and hearing about it's history. Your country has held such fascination for me for a long time now.
I pray for the much needed rain. Anne x19rain.

Your die cuts are gorgeous, Shaz, as are the cards you are making with them, and also your beautiful Oz photos. I am rather envious that you are now coming into a nice warm period while we are getting out our winter woollies! Thank you for your visit and especially for your continuing prayers. Thankfully I am feeling a lot less stressed about next Tuesday than I was before the first assessment, so long may that continue! At least I know what to expect now, which helps. Ultimately it's in the Lord's hands what happens, and I must continue to trust in Him to provide for me, as He has always done, and I know that He will not let me down.

Happy very belated WOYWW and God bless you,
Shoshi x #30
