Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Word Art Wednesday Guest Designer - Jan 2016

For WOYWW post - see post below ... thank you!

Last month I had an email from the wonderful Karen Letchworth of Word Art Wednesday Challenge asking me to be a guest designer for January.
I was actually surprised and honoured. I love this challenge and the Design Team is a great team of talented card makers. I thank them for asking me to join their team for this month :D
So here is my offering - two in all for this week.
This was the first one I made.. I had two ideas as had to make some cards for a FB challenge too.The colours I wanted for this card wouldn't work for the challenge so decided to make two :D
The verse lends itself to a circle so a plain circle  edged with black edging used, and yellow chalk to shade it softly.  Cut a yellow *SB Shapeability Lotus Pendant, mounted it (*this year I want to use things in my stash ie hardly or unused items so here is good start on both cards).  Cut 3 Dienamics Daisies and leaves, plus leaves from a Marianne die and Nellie Snellen leaf swirl. The embossing folder is new one from trip to Brisbane craft show @ $3.95, a bargain and love it .. very different on emboss and deboss sides .. this is Debossed and it is a 5' x 7" Couture Creations Circles Folder. I extended this too. see how here.
Its been so much fun playing with these verses as so often I don't get to do this for the actual week's WAW verse.. and to do it ahead is really special, I so appreciate it.
This is the second card which I scanned a piece of DP (in case idea didn't work didn't want to waste the piece so could skip that step). Added the digital verse in Word by adding the DP image first in to a text box right size, + added verse as an overlay and printed it off high quality. I had checked the size the verse needed to be for die before overlaying it on rough piece cut out.
With the barely used SB A2 Divine Eloquence I cut the verse with a green snippet, and largest die. The saved negative part of the die was pasted for reinforcing onto a scrap piece of card, then also used on the bottom. To check out more on how I made this please look at the desk post over here.
This is the verse this week, it is clickable for saving if you right click on it and select save.
I wanted to share how much this verse means to me.
As most of you know I was born with some health issues.
It was something that as a teenager really affected me and into my twenties. I was different from my "normal" friends and younger sisters.
I came to know the LORD Jesus when I was young - I share it in the post below or see this post here (as it's fifty years two days ago that I trusted Jesus down at our beach)
However I was so angry at God.
He could've made a better job! He is God after all.
Finally after about eight bitter years the LORD brought me to the end of myself, a key part in this was this very verse.
Proud, angry, stubborn, "self-willed" me was able to say with all my heart:

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well" Psalm 139:14

I know now - God doesn’t make mistakes. As Romans 8:28 says:
"ALL THINGS work together for good to them that love God to them that are the called, according to His purpose."
His purpose note,  not mine.
His ways are always best..

Hard? yes, not easy, but best - do we want second rate?

Well, thanks for popping over - and staying for a peek and chat.
May God bless your day where ever you may be.

What beautiful cards Shaz, and what a testimony to be able to say "not my will but Thine be done!" Congratulations on your guest DT spot too. I love WAW and generally enter most weeks, but not necessarily using the verses. I must use them more.
Blessings

Two stunning cards, Shaz! I love the design and colours of the first one, the debossed background is so effective. Great idea to print the verse onto patterned paper on the second one. I've never thought of doing that. xx

Your beautiful cards are such a blessing, Shaz. I feel so blessed to have you with us this month and really appreciate you sharing your art and your love for the Lord, Jesus Christ. Thank you so much. As far as commenting goes, you are not "required" to do it, so any comments you leave are an added blessing, and I appreciate EVERY comment you are able to leave. The more we tell people about our challenge blog and the love of Jesus Christ, the better.
Have a great week!
Hugs,
Karen

Oh, dear Shaz, what beautiful cards for the Word Art Wednesday group, and I was so pleased to see you as Guest Designer for them. I love both card and especially love the first for the intricate dies that are so cheery (I love daisies). And you are in summertime now and are feeling the heat, I'm sure. The second card is lovely with that intricate framed die I love so. And what a marvelous verse that reminds us that we are what we are by God's design, and I praise God for the testimony of how He drew you to Himself...even through the hard times. And we all still continue to have hard times, with the Holy Spirit guiding us all the way! Hugs and love, precious friend!

Precious Shaz, As the grain of sand in an oyster creates a pearl, God has used the issues in your life to make you a jewel beyond compare! I am so glad God knows what is best even if we don't. Your cards are always beautiful and come from a sweet heart to be a blessing to us all. Congratulations again for being chosen to be a guest designer on one of my very favorite sites. Hugs.

Both cards are very beautiful but I love the crisp clean colours of the first one. Besides which I love daisies, probably nearly as much (or as much) as poppies.
Had to call in to wish you a Happy, Healthy and Blessed New Year.

Two beautiful and different designs. The first one feels crisp and it has a well proportioned layout with beautiful arrangement of flowers, your second shows no image and embellies are needed to make a lovely card.

Beautiful cards, love your flowers framing the first, and pretty background on the second with great framing on both. Equally beautiful is your testimony at the end, so glad you shared!!

Wow, I am so loving both of these cards Shaz, but that first one is my favorite! Both are so beautiful and of course I love the message on them both. I too accepted the Lord young in my life, but for different reasons. And yes, in Oct and sometimes now, I am mad at Him for taking the love of my life. But I too know that He does not make mistakes. I don't understand it, but I know it is His will, not mine. Struggle, oh yes, I struggle over it a lot and of course it isn't easy, but is anything worthwhile easy?! No, it isn't but we will plug on doing His will as He directs us. Thank you for such a lovely post Shaz, you are a beautiful person. Congrats on your GDT spot! Hugs, Brenda

Congratulations on being Guest Designer for January, Shaz! Karen must have been thrilled when you said yes!! Both your cards are really beautiful and filled with so much texture and interest! I love that verse, too. Every person has trials of some sort or another and breathing is easier when we accept that He has a plan for us. I hope you have a wondrous new year!! Hugs, Darnell

Two gorgeous & beautiful cards, and while I love both of them, my heart is reaching towards the sunshine of #1. Really like that happy feel on it, with the motifs, colors & design. Brilliant idea (and look too) on #2, with making a copy of the pretty dp, so you didn't lose anything with a boo-boo. Card turned out great, again, with regard to color choices, the pretty S/B die frame and well done, YOU! Also pleased to read it's a big milestone anniversary. And no, God doesn't make mistakes. You are just as He needed you to be- all your life long. You are uniquely you, and made so, just for His Purpose. For whatever reasons, our small minds will never know. BUT there was/is a reason. To ALL His creations. I'm glad & happy that you did come to realize you are His Special Child and always in His Care. That is enough wisdom for any life, but as youngsters, we don't always know that. It's what they say: age (sometimes) brings wisdom to see. And the heart to know Him. I'm glad you didn't have to wait so long to realize this. Big hugs, TFS & have a grand week.
