Hi everyone, 'tis Wednesday so it’s time to pop over at Julia’s Stamping Ground, where we see desks, of marvellous inspiration worldwide.
Couple of desks shared but none of today as scheduled, busy!
Desk on Saturday, starting a card which really should’ve been mailed a week ago now, but wasn’t made.
I think there should be a law against having birthdays in first week of any given month! ๐
Don’t you? They always trap me? And have most of birthdays in first week this month and next!
I’d had these lovely new Gansai Tambi Japanese Watercolour paints for my Feb birthday, they arrived from Japan a bit late. I’d swatched the colours but not used. I bought them because all the reviews made me think they’d be more like Gouache watercolours than original artist watercolours. I’ve several sets, best is Windsor and Newton set, but not as good as Gouache for my ornamental work in calligraphy. My Windsor & Newton Gouache are only available in tubes. In our weather they dry out too quickly, so very interested in these paints!
Yes!!!! was right, the binder in them makes them dense in colour and vibrant, *opaque too like gouache, not like watercolours which are translucent.. I like these a lot!
(*although opaque, maybe diluted to almost translucent , but not same as my usual pure watercolour no binders).
Here I’m playing trains and scene building, ain’t growed up yet!๐ These two Dies are almost five years waiting to be used, pretty bad isn’t it?
Prize from Playground in 2015! (Sorry Miss!)
They’re NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff), so off to Darnell’s NBUS Challenge Yay! All cardstock except black is recycled from cereal, muesli bars, biscuit, tissues box etc. This desk shows the Memory Box Modern Background Die cut x 3 pieces inked up with Memento Dew Drops.
Fun painting these train cars and engine. Researched, of course, the train colours. Decided the nicest ones to use were the Flying Scotsman, loved the colours they even they varied! Added gold highlights with Gold watercolours set by Finetec (left of image on first desk).
Totally not the right colours for this train๐, wrong era as think this Choo Choo Die is US 1850s as opposed to UK 1900 ->.
Handcut a cloud stencil, with ink dusters shaded sky clouds (Adirondack inks x3 used for sky).
Well, here it is finished, everything has multiple shades, eg 4 greens, 3 blues, even in paints mixed that too.
Houses were cut separately and they’re just the white side of the packet used, with roof line painted in. The rail track was made out of another really brown scrap back of box, I scored it lengthways, then cross ways and inked it up and cut to size. Frame is triple cut out rectangle stitched die set A6 by Paper Roses see link.
The timber background is brown inside of cereal box, and then inked in three different types of browny Memento inks. The greeting too is NBUS from disc SU birthday greeting set, bought second hand on eBay. It says: “Happy Cake Day! Oh and and happy birthday too,” .. rather think suits the very dear recipient well. ๐
Now for the Aussie photos!
Two different days, two different skies and moods, but same location! Those are crab excavations around their tunnels in front. When little, we thought they were crab eggs!
There are Pacific Silver Gulls and Crested Terns, in the foreground, pretty much always here in a big mixed flock.
I do enjoy watching the birds, the water and the skies and communing with our Father Who made it all.
Well, that’s it for me today .. didn’t WOYWW last week.
Did do Friday Smiles post below... pray that all is well with you! I have lifted out my UFO and am working on it, God willing, for next week's Anniversary Reveal!
I do pray might have it finished for next Wednesday!
Our 11th WOYWW anniversary!
Thanks so much if you popped over for a peek and chat. May God bless you all and keep you all safe and well too.
My love thoughts and prayers are with you all, that you will be kept safe in all this perplexing time.
Love and prayers, ๐๐ป๐ค Shaz in Oz.x

Thought of the day:
There are so many gems in Psalms.
David has many a giant to fell in his life, not just one called Goliath.
Out of trials David learnt where his Refuge was..
More encouragement also on Purpose of Aloneness, see latest post here on Wonderful Words Of Life.

A Fantastic card Shaz. Your scene and the painting of the train is gorgeous.. Love your use of the cereal box..Beautiful photos of gulls and crab tunnels..loz
The train scene is wonderful. You have so much talent! I loved the Aussie photos, especially the gulls. I can just imagine their cries as they fly around.
WIshing you a lovely day in the Lord Shaz. May He bless you with health and love from everywhere.
Blessings,
Betsy
The train card is amazing and I am sure it won't matter a bit that it arrives after the birthday Shaz. Nice paints. I have seen them advertised on shopping TV here but I have so many different media already that I haven't got any. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #11
I have paint box envy!! Those Japanese watercolours are gorgeous and didn't you put them to good use? I adore everything about that train card from the cute little engine to the really fab clouds. Just gorgeous, you're very clever!!
Hugs LLJ 9 xxx
Hi Shaz. What a great fun train birthday card. Brilliant idea - and I don't think it matters that the engine isn't the "right" colours ! The end result is fabulous. Well done. Lovely sunny Aussie shots today too.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Well the train card would have to be one of the most beautifully detailed I have seen in a long time. Love all your photos of the beach and bird life in your part of OZ. Stay safe and keep creating.
Sandra de @5
Oops forgot to mention how lovely the new Gansai Tambi watercolours look on your desk. I have been tempted to buy but have resisted so far. Enjoy.

Oh Shaz what an amazing card - love it!! The detail is fabulous, right down to the 'wood grain' background.
Loving your Aus photos - those crab excavations took me back to one of my trips over your way. :)
Stay safe, precious sister
Blessings
Maxine
I love the train card a lot, wow. Amazing surroundings you have also!!!

Happy WOYWW

What an amazing card, such a lot of detail. Love the beach pictures too. Stay well, stay safe, Happy WOYWW Cindy #24
Hi Shaz, I agree about birthdays in first week of the month, I have several family members with birthdays on 1st to 5th of the month, and frequently the 29th/30th/31st sees me rushing to get a suitable card made, and modtly it needs to be made to topic and not a carbon copy of last year's otters/dogs/robots/tigers etc. I do like that train die, and you have made a great card that anyone male would really love, well done.
Chris #14
That card is wonderful, I LOVE the tree die cuts , i might neeeeeeeed them ha ha . Take care and stay safe Soojay #27
Hi Shaz, hope you are keeping well. Love the card, so much detail, that must have taken quite a while to finish. Good that the watercolours work for you, I see a lot of people using those. Lovely scenic pictures, Have a lovely week, Stay safe, Hugs, Shaz#10 X
Good morning, Shaz!
Happy to see that you're trying those watercolors again. They are delicious, aren't they? I need much practice!
I always enjoy your pictures. I love the ocean! I grew up in Southern California and went there often. It gives me peace. I miss it so. We now live between two rivers. Yesterday, I saw a flock of white pelicans and we do have seagulls. I convince myself that the ocean is "just over that hill."
Thanks for sharing yours.
Stay safe and Happy Wednesday!

Oh my gosh but your card is amazing! I think it should be framed and hung on the wall!
Beautiful sea shore photos. And love the Scripture!
Have a fabulous week!

Love the railroad card, absolutely stunning. Have a good week. Ani#12
Loving the card Shaz. I smiled when you said you'd had the die for so long, I'm guilty of this too but at least they're there when you need them. So many times I see a die or a stamp and think I might just need that some time but just think if you saw it and didn't buy it you would have kicked yourself right now. Beautiful photos too. Wishing you a lovely crafty woyww. Stay safe, Angela x16x
Wow, that train card is amazing - I love the scene you created and it looks perfect against the wood grain background. Gorgeous paints too - I have some Gansai Tambi but not nearly as many as your gorgeous box full - there's some paint envy going on here!
Lovely scenic photos too - it looks a wonderful place.
Have a good week,
Diana xx #21
The new paints are lovely and that card is gorgeous! I love the photos of those lovely empty beaches. I have gorgeous walks near here but do miss the sea. Happy WOYWW. Stay safe and well and take care my friend, with love and God Bless, Caro xxx (#6)
Yes, I think there should be a law about birthday in the first week of any given month too Sharon! lol I have a lot in the first week of the months as well. I have heard good things about the Gansai Tambi Watercolor paints, glad you like them and glad they got to you finally. Your train scene on this card is a delight no matter what the age!!! I love how you made rolling hills with some houses and trees and a train going by. I can see this place in my mind, all lush, green and warm. Were children play from sunup to sundown. The town is on the other side of the tracks and people are getting ready for a town celebration. lol Doesn't it sound like a nice place?! It does to me. I know you love your ocean views, and for me, it is a nice place to visit, but I love the country side because I am a country bumpkin. lol Your photo's are beautiful as always. Yes, I love seeing the sky, birds-especially the hummers, but any bird really and the land while communicating with the good Lord. I think this world is so beautiful and tell the Lord all the time. Hope you are doing well among this virus stuff going around the world. Sending prayers and big hugs and love, Brenda
wow you did a fabulous job with that card, love the little scene you have made, the clouds look great, love the different shades and the wooden background!
Love your photos, the ones with the dramatic clouds are so neat, you can't help but be awed by God's creation!
Lovely cards and love the pictures, I love the se and the sound of water,
Take care and stay safe

WOW! What a card! It’s amazeballs Shaz, so much work and detail! I have the trees and houses die, not quite a NBUS for me, but close. You inspire me to use it in a more obvious way than I have so far. Glad that you are pleased with the paints, that’s always a bonus when you take a bit of a chance with such things. See, there was I thinking that for calligraphy you just used ink! Lovely photos on the beach, just what I needed to see. I can picture you standing there on the very edge of the world, contemplating the huge skies. Love to you, stay well. Xxx
You have literally made a miniature work of art, Shaz! I loved reading about what you used and how you built your bucolic scene in the country with the fabulous train flying by on the track! I love every little detail! And the photos, of course! Keep on keeping safe and enjoying your new paints. I love the Gansai paints and don't take them out often enough. Thank you for sharing at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
What a super card! Love that train ...choo! choo!
Thank you for the views of the sea, love them.
Take care my friend, God Bless
Christine #23
Hi Shaz thanks for the link and interesting information on fungi. The colour and the name go together brilliantly. Stay safe.
Sandra de
Just love how this train and scenery with trees turned out. Good research on the colors, the train looks truly vintage. Like straight out of an episode of Hercule Poirot or something of the sorts. Wonderful card.
WOW! Your card is fantastic!
I bet it was well received!
Love your ocean views!
If I didn't live in the mountains, I'd certainly want to live by the ocean!
Hi Shaz! Sorry I am late commenting - time flies and it seems I just can't keep up with it all. I think your card is wonderful - I love the train - I never saw that sort of die and it would be really nice for men cards! Your photos of the seaside are stunning and nature always makes me thankful to Him, who created it all.
Stay well and safe!
Love and hugs,
Cardarian
What a fantastic card with a beautiful scene...loving it. Be blessed and stay safe.
Such a wonderful card Shaz! I hope the recipient appreciates all the hard work that went into it! Good luck with finishing your project, I've changed my mind about mine, and I think I've finished. It must be so nice to live next to the sea, and have crabs and ocean things, and the smell of the sea air...we have foxes and raccoons, squirrels and bunnies. They are nice too, in their way! Stay well, stay safe, Lindart #31
Had a horrid feeling that I had not visited you and I was right. So sorry \Shaz.
Those paints look exciting and what a find for you - if the tubes dry too quickly these will be a bonus - and you can use them as watercolours too - double bonus.
I was fascinated reading how you made up the choo choo card. Love how you built it up and the materials you used - and what a great effect. Am sure it will be received well even if it is late arriving. A bit like trains here in the UK. So appropriate really.
Lovely photos and a fact about crabs that I had no idea about - but then that does not surprise me.
Stay well my lovely friend, take care and see you tomorrow on WOYWW.
Bless you
Neet xx
Lovely new paints, Shaz, and I love your train paintings! Brilliant. Thank you for visiting and sorry for the very late visit on my part - it's been a hectic week. Just got this in in time before the next WOYWW! I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the kitties, and the teddies card, which is now completed and up on my blog. My hubby loved it!
Got both your comments OK - the real one and the test one! I hope you won't have any further problems commenting from now on.
Happy very belated WOYWW and God bless,
Shoshi x #4
Amazing train card, so much detail to admire. Emmax
