Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Stickeroos, Di's Snippets + WOYWW!

Hullo there everyone - well here we go again..
The merry go round of months passing by with great rapidity - yup!! we are now in the third month of the year .. and here is it is again:
 What is On Your Workdesk Wenesday again!! so to join in do pop over to our chief's desk - aka Julia, the Queen of Desks at the Stamping Ground.
 Lo - here is my desk!!
Ooh yum! new, unheard of, unseen before "stash" - all from Di of the Snippets Challenge! Thanks so much, Di - and also she sent lovely card - see Di's card in the left inset!
The funny thing about this stash, they are called "Stickeroos" by Penny Black.
I had never heard of them ( I actually thought it was Di's name for them, but they are called that on the back, shows how ignorant I am of such delights). When they appeared on Di's desk, I remember Mrs A. commenting about "kangaroos in the playground" - almost as if she knew they were coming downunder to kangaroo country :D.
Aren't they beautiful?.. and as you can a see I have made two cards with them already...
 I have number of birthdays in March - thankfully not as many as February, so made these two up yesterday for today and Fridays birthdays.
On this card I used the new Spellbinder set, a Christmas pressie, called Decorative Labels 8, snippets DP from SU, discontinued. Other used more snippets, Sizzix textured Expression embossing folder enlarged. Did it for another card but didn't work on it, and the Nellie Snellen rectangle die. {Linking these up to Di's Snippets for this week.Yay! get to play in the playground again!}
For the Aussie shots today thought would update you with my pineapple which showed you back in this post here - and it is a Brommeliad family for those who did not see the post.
{Edit: to answer Maggie's Question - it is a regular pineapple and is edible. My friend grew them that is why we put a top of one of our pineapple in the ground - just to try it!}
We had a lot of rain here lately, so it has grown quickly in the month (now about 7" or 23cm). They are pretty slow growing - not that I have ever grown them before!! If you want to know how it was started, please look at link above.
Also appearing in the lawn was this very curious flower.
What caught my eye was all the flies hovering around it but when came to photograph it, they took off - but notice all the dead flies inside it (more inside than photo shows)?? It did not have a strong aroma to me but guess it did to them! Tried to find out what it is but no success! {EDIT: Caro suggested it maybe a Star fungus and think she is right see here and here - see how wonderful WOYWW is?}
 I also want to welcome my wonderful new encourager AMY of the Insomniac Crafter ( a woman after my own heart) - please pop over to see her wonderful bog HERE - she is a new blogger, was in Di's top three last week!
Thanks so much everyone for popping over for a peek and chat and may God bless your day wherever you may be.,

Good morning,Shaz. Here I am, wide awake at around 5am, listening to the dawn chorus. Very pretty, but sleep should have been in charge. Aren't you the lucky one with all that lovely new stash? The cards, yours and Di' s, are beautiful. Thank you for your lovely comments this morning and for showing us your luscious Bromeliads. Are they edible, I wonder? xx Maggie (no number yet)

Hi Dear Friend
Lovely cards on your desk and what a great pair of cards you have made with your gift.
Love the pineapple you have grown, wish I could grow them here but guess it is the warmth they need, might try anyhow. Thanks for the encouragement.
Interesting about the fly flower. Wonder what it is, is it sticky? Just wondered if the flies stick to it.
Have a lovely week and stay safe.

Morning Shaz, love Stickeroos - it was Di that introduced me to them too - they are great for making quick but beautiful cards - no colouring :))I'm so impressed that you can grow pineapples in your garden. We can only grow in a hothouse here. Looks like a bird has left you an interesting plant in your lawn - wonder what it is? Someone will know :) Have a happy WOYWW. Hugs, Elizabeth x #26

Bless you Shaz, fancy noticing that I haven't blogged for a week. Thanks for your message, and your thoughtfulness. Not done any crafting since the workshop at the weekend and even then I didn't do much as my back was painful, so I'm taking a rest for a few days. Will only be a few days as well - have to make so ethnic for my niece's 21st next week so better get busy.
Wish I could grow pineapples like you, what stunning photos on your blog.

I love the Penny Black stickeroos and it looks like you are making good use of them. Your pineapple is amazing...well done you for succeeding in growing it. Thanks for sharing. Happy WOYWW. Caro #56

Ann B said...

Oops, meant to say 'some thing' not 'so ethnic' that's the iPad talking.

Caro said...

By the way, your mysterious 'flower' could actually be a starfish fungus which are common in parts of Australia and attract flies...apparently they will begin to smell of rotten meat, but fade quite quickly. Hope it helps! Caro x

Loving the mess! and more cards this week - they are as sweet as can be. I cannot believe that pineapple! I can't believe you grew it from a top. Of course you need a bit of sunshine, which we are sadly lacking in :)

Oh the PB stickeroos are lovely! You've made a couple of pretty cards with them. Your pineapple is really growing along well. Very strange flower indeed. Must say your st. Augustine turf is looking a whole lot better than my dead yard full. So so dry here... Happy WOYWW! Nan #3

Laughing here that you thought I'd made up the name Stickeroo - although Brenda is right, that's probably what I'd have picked :) Lovely cards there using them - so pleased you brought them to the Playground!

And your pineapple is coming along a treat - Happy WOYWW too!! Hugs, Di xx

Love the stickeroo's! You have such a talent for putting beautiful things together.
Yum. Pineapple. Summer and warmth seems so far away as it snowed here again yesterday.
My desk is clear, but my knitting needles are not. I need to get busy this morning and finish some projects.

I have had my eye on the stickeroos too after seeing them on Di's desk. She should be on commission.
Your pineapple is shooting away there, will you have the heart to eat it eventually?

WOW Shaz awesome post. What beautiful cards and I really like the idea of those Stickeroos! Love the picture of the pineapple and the red flower! Weren't you the lucky one with Miss Di's Stickeroos. Don't worry, I had never heard of them until Miss Di started using them!
Great to see your pineapples. We always used to cut the top and try to get it to grow as a kid. Don't know why as we had no chance of it ever growing in cold damp Wales!

RosC said...

G'day Shaz,
That's a fine pineapple there; I can almost smell it. And the funny red flower is possibly a fungus, I agree with your co-blogger. We had a similar thing appear in Ti-tree corner over night some time last year. It might be similar and I imagine the flies are its fodder.
To the desk: the cards you made are great. Spellbinders are really doing some interesting dies. And the stash from Di is remarkable.
