Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Distress Inks on Glossy Cardstock + WOYWW

Hi there everyone! 😁
Yesss!! ... another Wednesday is almost over here in Oz, so joining over with Julia over at The Stamping Ground for WOYWW  or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday! Going to brief today, I’m not great, so mostly pickies from my desk last week and one this morning.
Desk one: watercolour technique with DI and gloss Card.
Saw this on someone's blog, but not clear how to do it. Found videos on You Tube - just put in "Distress inks with glossy cardstock". So cut gloss to size, from A4, chose 3 or 4 DI you want to use and smooch firmly and randomly wherever you want till whole sheet full, ** start obviously with light colours first.
After they’re well covered rub off surplus ink with plain serviette, softer than paper towel I think.
I worked out if not happy with colours you can spray water lightly to reactivate surface and re smooch inks. Two much better second time around. Wasn’t happy first time. ***If you don’t reactivate the inks don’t really layer well the second time around which is very interesting (this wasn't on videos I watched)
Today’s desk shows how much they fade or lighten (am saving these for WOYWW 10 hopefully). To right are piles of alcohol ink pieces, dies and the top Penny Black stamp is a NBUS. Saw brilliant idea somewhere last week I’m going to try with this .. have to do minimal exertion for three days, so won’t be this week. I craft standing up, not supposed to stand. I had cancer out on shin this afternoon. Also biopsy on forehead - just to even me out!!! 😆
Finished card, last weeks WOYWW  showed yupo and Alcohol inks ... this birthday card is for my lovely sister. I am really wondrously blessed in my family. I loved this alcohol piece, there are so many subtle tones as well as vivid shades on it. The Die is gumblossom from Ultimate Crafts - they've lots of Aussie flora fauna dies, etc. Really loved this card, and so didn’t not want to add a sentiment. It’s classic simplicity without it..
The Aussie photos are courtesy of a family member, who is down on south coast. Taken from their caravan spot, such pretty sunset and views. Nice and green too.
Well, that’s it for the day. I’m hoping to catch up with folks, manage everyone most weeks on WOYWW list but last week just folks who called + few extra.
Thanks for popping over especially if you take time to say hi. May God bless your day wherever you may be.
Hugs Shaz in Oz.x

Verse for the day struck me as particularly apt for myself, the abounding mercies of the Lord is so  VERY many, yet sometimes taken for granted !
Trust it blesses you also.

Hope the cancer removal has done the tick and you recover very quickly. It's so common in Australia isn't it, especially before the Slip Slap Slop years. A little light crafting will help you feel better, I really love the way you go for such full on colours!!

Oh I do hope your ops heal well Shaz. My face took a while and still isn't quite me but all is well. I have never heard of Yupo but it's been mentioned twice today so the WOYWWers obviously like it! Enjoy your crafting. xx Jo

Ooh Shaz, you do as you’re told and sty off your feet. Talk about the two most painful areas, shin and forehead...it’s just skin and bone so very slow to feel in bruised. Do take care too, unhealthy to take knocks or bangs whilst healing! I’m with you on the card with the gumblossom die, it needs little else, so pretty, specially on the background.

The technique on the glossy paper is neat! I suppose you could braver on a light layer first, too. Might have to try it! Your AI finished card is lovely, a particularly nice background for your sister!

Thank you for the lovely verse. It's just what I needed to hear this morning. The card you made for your sister is lovely and I know she'll enjoy it.
How are you feeling my friend? I have been praying for you daily, that the Lord would hold you in His hands and great you healing in all areas of your body.
I'm still waiting to hear from anyone regarding the injections in my back. I'm starting to feel it may not happen. If that is the case, I'm trying to find what lesson God may be teaching me through this trial that may or may not go away.
The flowering pear tree in our yard doesn't produce any fruit! I have no idea why it is named that. When we first moved in, I waited two years for fruit to appear after so many blooms. I finally took a photo into a nursery and asked about it. The nice man told me they are non-fruitbearing trees and were just named for a fruit! I was sad to think there would be no pears, but I still love the beautiful trees themselves.
I'm wishing you a wonderful day my sweet Shaz. May God's mercies be new on you every morning.
Blessings,
Betsy

Fascinating backgrounds Shaz, and I love that card - keeping is so CAS is perfect for the background.
I hear you with the cancer removal, and being balanced - I had a scan last year to check an ovarian cyst, to find that in the intervening 12 months I had grown a second one of the same size on the other ovary!! I have a biopsy on my neck coming up - I am not looking forward to it. The joys of getting old and having had years of minute doses of steroids for asthma control.
You are in my prayers
Blessings

Prayers for quick healing from your procedures. Take care
Your backgrounds turned out neat after you smooshed them, I think I tried that technique but I used a sponge applicator to apply the inks.

Hi Shaz, beautiful birthday card for your sister. I hope everything goes well with the biopsy, and that your shin op heals up Ok. I'm awaiting an appointment for a biopsy on my tongue and cheek. Not looking forward to them one bit. I had the same 9 years ago and still remember the pain! Thanks for stopping by earlier, and the tips on ink to use with promarkers. I like the idea of clear EP to help me stay in the lines! I'll let you know how I get on. Have a lovely week Heather x #15

Oh Shaz, this is just great - I love all the different distress inks and how you were able to play with them! I did know that the layering and the second pass wasn't as blendable but LOVE that your card came out so striking! The colors of the blue really pair well with the gorgeous white - excellent contrast! big hugs! xx

Prayers for you, Shaz! Nice to see someone still using old-school Distress Ink. I'm now just refusing to buy the Oxides out of sheer stubbornness, HA! Very nice backgrounds, I'd say, take care xoxo
