Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

NBUS no 6, WOYWW, Snippety Die cuts + Distress Inks

Hullo there everyone! It is another Wednesday and time for another WOYWW or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. Do pop over to our chief Desker's Julia of the Stamping ground!
PLUS those of you who know Darnell - well guess what? she has just started her NBUS no#6 challenge with amazingly generous prizes again.. so get all that *NBUS (*NeverBeforeUsedSchtuff) out and join in here!  (Darnell is not well either, so please pray that her current flare up might settle down ASAP! )
To my desk...
(Erm, not showing you current desk 'cos am at "hair-tearing out, no! I dont want to talk about it" stage of another card, but am not going to be beat, just breath deeply, pray lots and carry on)
Saw this idea on Pinterest and so was trying it out. Using distress ink and watercolour paper., Learnt a few things along the way which will share. Using green cos it was Sue's favourite colour and was the last of three sympathy cards made, this one for Sue's friend, Dee.
1. Three DI green inks - Pine Needles, Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage. Wet with water mist to blend.
2. Added shimmery Diamond Dust glimmer mist after the water for extra sheen.
3. Used snippet of watercolour paper to colour + brand new die from last year, not been used before, hence NBUS (Memory Box Blushing Branch).
Have cut some shapes of watercolour paper of die cut and soaking them here. Two points to learn if do it again.
1. cut a whole shape even if is in two bits it needs to be complete shape
2. soak it really, really well.

Laying piece of wet die cuts on DI water colour paper.
If had left it longer then there would've been more contrast .. plus whole die cut refection would be been better I think.

Finished card, with SB Deckled oval frame, Memory Box Blushing Branch. Verse is by Stampendous and stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed. All elements were on desk above.
To the Aussie shots .. this is one gorgeous perfect summery day here on the coast of NSW, showing you:
**how great the cloud forms were .. I love that sort of sky ** the sea colour simply superb and **waves clean and neat but interesting.
Al the glories of God's amazing creation  .. perfect for Sunday's drive with dad and sitting to eat our icecreams :D
Clicked a wave sequence for you here..

Delighted to be welcoming some more encouragers of this blog .. a big welcome to two Aussies I've met through the new DT team I am on (see BIG announcement on this post HERE)

Love that sympathy card..the cut out flower works so well. And though green isn't my favourite colour, it really does work well for a sympathy card. And I'm jealous (again!) of your beautiful beach scenes....sigh...... :-)

Lovely card and that technique you were trying out looks rather interesting indeed. I've been eyeing some of these messier techniques (with sprays and water and dabbing and the like) lately. I think because I'm in no danger of trying them not being in the same house as my stash currently. Great outdoors photos. The weather looks wonderful. Days like that is what life is all about. Thanks for the Australia (sun) pictures! Beautiful. I need a little dose of sun and sand to remind me of summer as we've had yet another snow storm. Grrr.Beautiful card. I think you're right about leaving it a little longer and the contrast would have been stronger.

How fun that we were on the same page on this card!! We did it a little different but with the same effect! Fun to find different techniques and the twist each crafter puts to it. Your card is beautiful! There are a lot of Distress inks aren't there, it's crazy and with me working at a locally owned scrapbook store I get to see them all (tee-hee) and get my fingers very inky! (very dangerous!) Thanks for visiting and your sweet comment. Have an excellent day in the Lord!! (and a faith-filled week my blogger friend!)

You are good Shaz..when I get to that stage, I give up. Bin! I love what you've been doing with the distress inks, it is is difficult to know that how wet it should be, so your advice is very good. I will do whole dies and soak, if it works, I'll show you!

This is a really great tip for making your own backgrounds and I love getting inspiration on how to use my dies to their full potential. Beautiful card!

Shaz Thank you so much for trusting that I didnt "unfollow" myself from your blog! I definitely didnt. Blogger has been playing all sorts of funny games and today my long time blog supporter told me she was surprised to fin blogger had took her off my blog! The past month my blog followers count dropped by 200 and neither I nor my poor blog I am sure did anything to offend so many people!! Your creativity is very special my friend and I want to remain your blog supporter always!!
Cheers

I'm taking a break today and just visiting instead of working. I love your card for NBUS. It is so pretty. I have to say you live in the most beautiful place and I always love the pix you share. Thanks for posting the grief post, it really hit home with me. It is necessary to grieve and mourn the loss of a loved one. You can't help yourself no matter what the circumstances. I know my husband is with God but I miss him and I'm sorry he is gone.

So much to comment on! This was a fabulous post, Shaz! Thank you for posting the awe-mazing photos of the ocean and those beautiful rolling clouds in the bright blue sky! You are so blessed! Thank you, too, for playing in my NBUS Challenge #6 and for you kind words and request for prayers on my behalf. That was very kind of you and very much appreciated! And how great to come by and see a WOYWW post, too! I do miss WOYWW hops!! I think your card turned out brilliantly! I have never tried that "ghost" technique but I must do so! It adds so much interest to an already sensational design!! Take care and enjoy your day!! Hugs, Darnell

Gorgeous, both your card and the views! I love how your card came out, so pretty and feminine. The butterfly and the sentiment is gorgeous as well. I love so many colors, and green is one of them. I also love those pictures, what a beautiful spot to eat ice cream cone with your dad. Such a beautiful memory my friend. Hugs, Brenda
