Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

CAS Simple Stencil on Brusho + WOYWW

For those who've subscribed and are wondering why you've two different subscription in your inbox? It’s because Feedburner hasn’t made up it’s mind what it’s doing it seems. I don’t want to cancel it and just keep follow.it, as I really prefer Feedburner’s simpler format, with no adds. Nor do I want to cancel follow.it as took ages to set up. Not sure what Feedburner will do, so just will wait and see?!... apologies

*****
Well, everyone I’m back again with another WOYWW, What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. Over HERE 😁 at Julia's, Queen of Deskland, there's worldwide desk exploring to be found - so please join in, do! As my title indicates there is brusho in the mix.
The design is similar to that I’ve done before but not like this, which uses TH mosaic stencil, and mauves are the order of the day because it’s favourite colour of a dear friend for her birthday card!
The completed card, used SB fancy oval die, stitched oval die, MB Prim Poppy. Brusho background is from food packet, plus other snippets in die cuts, frame, so off to Di's Snippets playground.

Framed text is coloured, 23 carat gold leaf, begun on last fortnight's post below. We all need to look up, not within or around, that is discouragement.  The upward look, looking unto Jesus.. that indeed is peace,  by faith alone in the Prince of Peace.
This next card is a technique of alcohol ink (actually mauves but look more blue!) on ordinary kitchen alfoil, which I adhered first on scrap cardstock. Once coloured and completely dry, I dry embossed it. Frame is Stitched rectangle, and flower is MB. Saw a example of this on Loll's blog, ages ago, but her alfoil was leftover, was used to keep her desk clean! Must admit alcohol is tricky on Alfoil as we call it(kitchen foil), found not to spray it, just add the liquid alcohol to alcohol inks, not spray or blow very much at all as dries too quickly.
Birthday stamp is by Lawn Fawn, Too much to say! 😁 as this is a NBUS technique and medium to me, I'm popping over to Darnell's NBUS Challenge.
(EDIT: links to inspiration post from Loll HERE. Two other similar ones, but diff technique HERE and HERE. The original card was a google image and couldn’t ever find it, just had Lolls watermark, otherwise would never known. Suspect it was on Splitcoast stampers.)
This card again is
using the lovely penguin set from our very dear ShazSilverwolf at 2018 crop in Llundudno.
They’re called Angry penguins, however I think they look like they’ve attitude instead?!! Also coloured with brushos, technique here with previous cards - Kazelkraft (145) Angry Penguins stamp. Also more with same image used here.
Now
, a few Aussie photos to close, some fortnight lilies and then some from yesterday's walk, so tranquil.
That's it for today.
Hope this finds you well (for you🙏), praying too that God will richly bless and keep you safe and those you love, too. Thanks so much for popping over and saying hi, I really appreciate you very much, will do my best to reciprocate.
Prayer hugs,🙏🤗

Thought for the day:
Except below is from my Christian blog post yesterday.

“This too Shall Pass..“ link Here.

. . in the Bonhoeffer movie this was a prayer he prayed with a young man weeping inconsolably in the cell next door. Bonhoeffer cried out to him, the guard remonstrated at first, then allowed him to speak.

2. https://www.welovechocolatebaroque.uk/2021/08/august-favourite-stamps.html well this penguin set must be one of my favourite sets this year, this is about my sixth card with them! All male one for birthday, not usual Christmas cards I was told. Living in Oz I'd never think of them as Christmas stamps!
3. Simon Says Monday Challenge - Dry Embossing the alfoil floral card https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=24711
Add some schparkle to quote Darnell.. used 23 carat gold leaf on the illuminated text, and alfoil on floral card both have lots of schparkle which photos dont entirely capture. No worries if not okay.. ie not schparkly enough. 😊

LOTV Birthday Card + Washi Card + WOYWW

Hi there! For those wondering where I’ve been I explained on this post here, all is well though. For those who've subscribed and are wondering why two different subscription in your inbox!? It’s because Feedburner hasn’t made up it’s mind what it’s doing it seems. I don’t want to cancel it and just keep follow.it, as I really prefer it’s simpler format, with no adds, nor cancel follow.it as took ages to set up. Not sure what Feedburner will do, so just will wait and see?!...

Well it’s time for another WOYWW, What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. Over HERE 😁 at Julia's, Queen of Deskland, there's worldwide desk exploring to be found!

My desk this morning shows work on a small calligraphy piece, which I’ve done many times, “Looking unto Jesus” Heb 12:2a.
Looking to Jesus - that’s something which is good to do any day of the week, but especially now.
It’s for a centenarian for her birthday, she can see, but hearing not so well. I use gouache layered on a piece of heavy duty water colour paper, decades old, and it has conveniently graduated colours on it.
This is just kept from work to work and add to it, as I go along. The gold leaf 23 carat at top of desk is ready to add, once I’ve added gilding size. I have ialready done that now and gold leaf, but touching up is needed.

Next desk is one of my favourite cards for this year, for a very special two year old, Oliver Charles, his second name Charles is after our darling dad and poppa.😊 Here I’m working out the layout, you can see a piece of white dots embossed card with an un-embossed image on top. I stamped the ballon bear image in Black Onyx Versafine; heat embossed the image, before dry embossing the white card with CB Swiss Dots EF, extended (to a non-crafter this might sound contradictory 🤔). Then used the stamped outline, on which to overlay coloured image. The image I stamped and coloured it a couple of times and layered it up onto the plain white dot embossed card. To see original technique - see here. Original design was by Debby Yates, her link over there too.
Here is the completed card. Similar items as on my original, so see there for full design, link above. Except “Vintage Happy Birthday” die is by Poppy crafts.
Next card also is a repeat. It’s using the wonderful versatile washi, scoring and peel offs. Die cut is washi mounted on cardstock, too. Full step by step given on this post HERE.

Now to my Aussie pickies, the first few are from late on this afternoon’s  walk.

Yes, I’m incredibly blessed here. The lights are stunning. It was so still, yet very crisp and cold.. for us 😂 not winter in  northern hemisphere!
Love the flowering Wattle at moment, in foreground on first photo, although my hay fever doesn’t! 🤧
The last photo was a few weeks ago and loved the juxtaposition of the two pairs, the couple on the path, and the cuties in the foreground! They've a funny, typical Aussie name, they’re called Galahs! If someone is acting the fool, they’re also called a galah! Might explain why they’re called that. 😉

Well, that’s it for now, do have more cards to share another time.
Happy WOYWW everyone and May our dear Loving Father God bless and keep you in your day wherever you may be, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

Thought for the day:
This has to be one of my many, many  favourites...
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil,
to give you an expected end. Jer. 29:12
Yes, thoughts of peace NOT of EVIL.
Yet the enemy would have have us believe otherwise!
It’s very easy these days to get extremely discouraged.
I find not listening too much to the news really helps, reading just what I want helps me to be selective, but informed.
⚓⚓⚓⚓
An anchor in a time of storm is definitely the Word of God.
Our Father God understands He gets it, for He said, "I will never never leave thee, nor forsake thee".

If He seems distant,
 guess who’s moved?

Stencilled Oxides with Glimmer Paste + Scrappy Mo’s Christmas Challenge

Well, well! I actually started this post over a month ago.. where have I been? *Short answer = “busy”. 😉😃 Doing extra things, including extra time of prayer each morning, in times like these more prayer is needed. That is for sure.. plus other demands on my time. So here I am sharing as the title said stencilled oxides and glimmer paste… love how the colour underneath layers up and shine through. Of course cannot see shimmer in photos!

Stamp unknown, red rubber set bought on eBay unmounted.  Masked off that section when doing the two layer, ink then paste stencilling. Linking over to Scrappy Mo’s Christmas Challenge here! And as that stamp “Star of Wonder, star of night, Guide us to thy perfect light” is a NBUS..  Off to the NBUS challenge.. here - yippee!

The die cut and stencil are both MB discontinued.

This is card made for a dear couple’s wedding, hindered a little by COVID as groom’s parents, family et al, were in lockdown in Sydney, mercifully groom made it out before it happened.

This card has loads of shimmer in all of the layers but only tiny bit shows. Mixture of dies mostly, bar the fancy corners, are SB - but all disc., as is alphabet, it’s CB.
This is a teabag folding card if you want to see how it’s done look on this post HERE way back in 2012! The verse is by WAW, and SB fancy labels, square die is by Nellie Snellen, maybe available, not sure. It's for a very special friend's birthday, and I know she's received it already.

Just a few beach scenes to cheer you up, soo pretty …

and have loads more cards to share but no time. 😃

Thanks so much for popping over especially if you’ve time for a peek and chat, your encouragement is greatly appreciated, I’m sorry I really struggle to reply on mobile device, even doing blog post is harder sometimes than other. It’s photos that are hardest. I’ll do my best to comment, but am reading posts .. and praying.

Prayer hugs  🙏🤗  Shaz in Oz.x

Thought for today

When we look around today it is so easy to be discouraged, as things do seem so topsy turvy. Folk, or more especially the media, are prone to cry like Henny Penny that “the sky is falling in”, or like the Aussie poem “We’ll all be Rooned said Henrahan, before the year is out!”

You know it’s been much darker in decades or millenia past eg Isaiah who penned verse below, died by being sawn in half in a hollow log, or as Hebrews 11 puts it “sawn asunder”, hounded to death for disagreeing with government of the day.

We are apt to forget to count our blessings. So here is a verse I love and rediscovered to share, it's something we need to do often, be thankful and praise our Loving Father God. Especially praising Him for the grounding wisdom of His word!

O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy namefor thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. Isaiah 25:1

A hymn to cheer your heart to go with it... In times like these… we need an Anchor.. to hold us to the Solid Rock. Hymn link also here if not showing. https://youtu.be/j3jK3x3iMOM

“Feedburner “ Expires - Changing to Follow.it Email Subscriptions.

New announcement- Notice to all who receive these posts by email:

The email subscription service will be changing.. again. 🤔😉

** I was going to go do it myself, but struggled to do on mobile, so after prayer, research, discussing with fellow bloggers, I’m changing to follow.it which is like feedburner, but apparently it expires at the end of June 2021.

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not wish to have your subscription transferred to the new service, follow.it, please discontinue your subscription by clicking on "unsubscribe now" at the bottom of any of the email notifications received from this blog.

I will do our best to transfer all legitimate email subscribers to the new service, but there may be some people who stop receiving notifications after changeover.
I have greatly culled the subscription list as there were unbelievably over 1,000 spam addresses.
If there are hitches in your subscription changeover, by my ineptitude 🤔🙏, please re-register in the "Follow By Email" section of the blog.
Thank you so much for your understanding.
Prayer  hugs, Shaz in Oz.x
EDIT: I’ve added the subscription link on top of sidebar.
For steps on how to do it for your blog, see this link here. https://follow.it/ni
*** I'm just doing basic plan, as that page says it offers a lot.
***Any queries or questions or issues, I’ve found that they're brilliant and reply promptly.

CAS Washi & Peel Off Cards + WOYWW

Hullo, hullo! It’s Wednesday... again! 😉😃 Those in the know, also know Wednesday is time for desks of the world at WOYWW - What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday So head over to Julia’s - peek, learn and share - do!

I’ve some simple cards today, I saw some discussion last WOYWW on someone’s desks re peel offs not being used.. curiously peel offs silver borders, front right, washi cards, in make, etc. was what was on my desk last week, not been touched again til this morning.

When I need a card in a hurry, this is an idea I sometimes chose! Here I’m making the most useful JUST FOR YOU (Die by Ultimate Craft)  or THANKS (CB die) on cards for my stash. It’s quite simple, using two neglected stash items.. namely washi or peel off stickers. And if you don’t have a wide washi, you just put two from a set together like I’ve done of these cards, here. Layered up the greeting with a washi die cut too, which is adhered to white snippet of card and DST on the back, to make layering easier.

Step 1: lay the wide or two layers of washi roughly an inch or 3cm from top of folded card.
2. turn it over tape ends die my score a pair of lines top and bottom and to finish off hedge of washi.
Then add the silver/ gold border of of peel off, top and bottom (peel offs front - silver sheet).
3. Then round the bottom corners.
4. add layered chosen greeting. Full step by step given on this post HERE.

So here's two cards made this way.
Another Kazelkraft Brusho penguin cards (Technique, includes polished metal embossing folder technique- see here), which is flying to Norway, DV. One more male card then I’m done, for a while. Now to Aussie photos some seascapes mostly.
First off a potplant  from our courtyard has been magnificent for months. An Anthirium - in cooler climates they grow indoors, but here they grow outdoors.

Seascape on one of main beaches where there’s a walkway along the break wall…
I saw
this curiousity - do you know what it is? I didn’t know till I looked up closer!
Mm, I thought Rolls Royce doggie shower, obviously a dog lover on the council. I wonder how obediently said doggie is rinsed off?
Seascape of one of northern beaches - such beautiful contrasts.
That’s it for today, I may miss next week I’ve a very busy week, and blogging is difficult then. I did try visiting everyone who saw me + extras last week, but sorry for those I missed.
BTW in post above this one, here, I share I’m going to use Follow.it instead of feedburner for email subscriptions. It has a free option (as well as paid options with more perks), of course I’m doing the free one.
Or that’s the plan.
Every blessing in your day and God’s keeping upon you, and those you love, Shaz in Oz.x
Thought for the day.
This is what we all need to do every moment of every day…
And it’s not a suggestion!
It’s a command.
“Seek ye my face”!
When we truly know someone - we know what their face looks like.
Seeing God, truly, makes us want to follow him.
Seeing, knowing, believing, trusting, loving God, and His Son, Jesus, our Saviour means we want to follow Him.

If there is something between that relationship between us and God, some sin , then we won’t want to seek God.
As Adam and Eve hid from God in the garden after sinning, so will we.

“When Thou saidst, SEEK YE My face
My heart said unto Thee,
Thy face LORD, will I seek.” Psalm 27:8

Brushos with Kazelkraft Angry Penguins + Tarnished Foil + WOYWW

Well, everyone I’m back again with another WOYWW, What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. Over HERE 😁 at Julia's, Queen of Deskland,  there's worldwide desk exploring to be found!

My first desk is the making of a card for a very dear 89 y.o friend called Iris - an iris card!

I had no ideas for her card this year, usually do an iris card. Just before starting, providentially my friend Anne in France sent me a photo of her magnificent Irises and Lupins! I wondered if they’d work? My first idea was dumped because my printer refused to do as planned. 😣 I won’t tell you how many card sheets I wasted in that endeavour! 🙏🙏 Take Two.. a struggle, again because of printer, but eventually  it worked! Yay, so thankful.

I’d edited the image to print a really light background sheet, then layered up central images in the "Spotlight" technique, for the main focus.
Yay, happy! 😃 the finished card.

Next desk… using the lovely penguin set from our very dear ShazSilverwolf at 2018 crop in Llundudno. I find it strange they’re called Angry penguins because they look like they’ve attitude, more than anger?!! Here are previous cards with Kazelkraft (145) Angry Penguins stamp set. They’re made with the Joseph’s coat of many colours technique.

This one is totally different, I love how varied uses of stamp set can be. Memento Paris Dusk + DI Frayed Burlap for stamped images, overlaid with Versamark and clear EP to seal it for the watery background.

Watercolour background is brushos - Cobalt, Sandstone, Yellow. Sprinkle lightly on blending mat, spritz vigorously with water, smooch cardstock through colours till happy.

This is a really great ✔️ brusho technique, as the colour doesn't get too intense and if not quite deep enough just repeat or move colours with watery brush around till happy, have a lot more control.

Technique on Heather Telford's blog

Used the left over colours to paint the penguins, add more if needed. Used white gesso for snow at penguins feet + background stamps Newsprint + Marble by Kaisercraft.

Now the bottom layer on card is 3D SB embossing folder Celtic weave. Used a cereal packet for that, as coloured a lovely mottled sandstone (cardstock = frozen food packet, a heavy duty white card + print seals it on back - see below).

Decided to use
Tarnished Foil aged look on card base.
Three different types of EP, a chunky EP - Eucalyptus (soft verdigris effect), glitter bronze + WOW Platinum, to tone down bronze.
Added Archival Cobalt ink highlighting EF pattern, reheated so the ink blended into it.
Happy camper. 😆😁 Added a string, brad, etc to side. Happy Birthday x 3 layers (Elizabeth Craft).
Nephew's B/D card, done!

**New subscribers or old please join/ rejoin by subscription tab on top sidebar, as Feedburner will not send emails from July 1.

**Need to select tab for desktop site, to see sidebar and wait for sidebar to load. No idea why it takes so long, sorry.

Well, a few Aussie photos to close.

For the squeamish, a carpet snake is totally harmless, except to rodents, etc.
Snow scenes by family are last Friday on the Northern Tablelands, 150km west to Great Dividing Range, or 90 miles away. A very early snowfall as autumn leaves + snow! Second is of Standing stones (see link) & snow!
Some flowers - zygo cactus in magnificent garden in Qld!
That's it for today.  Hope this finds you well, praying God will richly bless you and those you love, too. Thanks so much for popping over and saying hi, I really appreciate you.

Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

Thought for the day:

A day with the LORD is a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day...

To our finite, time-limited mind - this so sounds contradictory.

However, God is ETERNAL.

Time has no beginning or end to Him.

We are the opposite, on earth we are totally time limited (& don’t we know it!).

Some may look at this verse (or verses like it) and use it to prove how wrong (in their minds) and faulty the Bible is.

However God's ways are NOT our ways.

We are in a hurry, He is not.

"He is long-suffering, NOT willing that any should perish.."

So, I shouldn't be impatient with God, for His times or ways are never mine.

Any Christ-follower, believer, Christian truly knows that:

"My times are in Thy Hand..."

Aren't they the wisest, safest, kindest, most loving Hands of all?

Love You, Lord.
